You don’t need to quit eating at least 6 hours before you pass out, that’s overkill. I do agree about the nicotine and caffeine especially, caffeine did a number on me when I tried to sleep on certain nights. I eventually gave it up and my sleep improved. Also, make sure to black out your room when asleep at night using curtains. And if this work on your body, try eating a heavy carb meal as your night meal and see if you knock out rather easily.
