Millions of women also get trapped in a bad relationship by a deft manipulator because she feels pressured to "give him another chance" until she's given him so much ground that she doesn't have any of her own.

I mean... I don't give blowjobs to my current guy because he's too big for my mouth (he's just massive, guys). I miss blowjobs, but unfortunately, he likes my teeth far away from his cock. :/

If people decide they don't want to be friends with men like Aziz, that's their business. I honestly think Aziz was probably drunk and might not have been thinking clearly/might have been clumsy and pushy in his approach because he was drunk, but if his friends don't want to be friends with the type who gets drunk and pushes women into sex, that's their right. I think that there needs to be some kind of scale, but honestly, it's Hollywood, people lose out on jobs because they have affairs and co…

Okay, I get where you're coming from, but what's the worst a court of public opinion can do? It's literally just a bunch of people deciding they don't want to be associated with someone. Guy loses his job? That literally only happens if you're famous - and if you're that famous, you're probably rich, and I'm not exactly crying a river over your job loss. If in some alternate universe this happens to some man who isn't rich, that same man can probably get another job, because most guys who sexual…

Oh, please. (a) People in Hollywood lose their careers over a lot less than the #metoo shit. Have you ever heard of Nina Simone? She lost a lot of money and many gigs because of her protest song, "Mississippi Goddamn." Mel Gibson made a bunch of anti-Semitic comments in 2006 and lost out on lots of movies for a while. He recovered. I have a feeling that all the people who are being called out because of metoo are going to be completely fine. Yes, even Kevin Spacey, who didn't even lose House of …

There will always be people who sympathize with the rapist over the victim. My role isn't to serve as the arbiter of public opinion. My role is to protect myself and those around me, and to support people who are clearly suffering and in pain. If the man didn't do it, then he might be upset that his female friends aren't hanging out with him, but he'd probably understand. He can leave the area, wait for the buzz to die down, and start a new life. If he isn't found guilty of sexual assault, he wi…

Why can't a woman who wears something like that be a lesbian? Edit: I literally don't go out, haven't worn anything immodest outside of lounging clothes in my entire life (literally, I hate wearing shorts because I feel they're too revealing), and I'm in a boring monogamous relationship. I don't relate to the type of women who go out in this stuff at all because I know I'd feel incredibly uncomfortable in that type of clothing. I just think that men need to understand that "being noticed" isn't …

Well, as a woman in general, I would choose B, but specifically, I would find a woman who fits this description more attractive than a woman who fits A's description. Ideally, I'd want someone who's as "boring"/devoted as B and as intelligent/ambitious/sexually adventurous as A, with less focus on success and more focus on personal happiness and achievement of lifelong goals... but you didn't ask for my ideal situation. Given those parameters, I choose B, because B would make me happiest in the …

Would I date this guy? No. Should I date this guy? Well, I'm not going to date this guy, so what's the point? Should ANYONE date this guy? Well, someone is going to date this guy. My stepfather raped a toddler and somehow managed to get married four times after that. Should they? Nope, probably not. It's not a woman's job to endanger herself for the satisfaction of a man.

Yes. I'd allow a blow-up doll in my relationship. I allow my SO to use porn. I'd be fine with him seeking out a sex worker if it suddenly became legal in the US. Why not a sex bot? At least the sex bot can't get communicable diseases, which is more than a sex worker can say. Edit: I don't understand why people here seem to have such a fascination with sexbots. Oh: More examples. Sailor Moon shows the main character repeatedly choosing her broke, orphaned (but brilliant, loyal, and kind) boyfriend over potential love interests, some of which include a famous musician, a potential alien overlord, and a rich race car driver. Sailor Moon has a special status among many female anime fans because most of us were introduced to anime by the series (which was weirdly feminist for its time and came on at 4 o'clock most evenings); for this reason I call it one o…

I'm not saying Angel isn't dominant. I'm saying that Angel is less dominant/"Chad" than Spike - though that's a personal opinion. You stated that all chick lit featured the heroine either ending up with the most dominant love interest or "choosing" the less dominant love interest after being rejected by the most dominant love interest. Buffy doesn't actually end up with anyone, even though both love interests pursue her in ways that make it clear that they are interested, but she comes the close…

Such a vague question, but I'll bite. Ouran High School Host Club is my favorite anime and has an utter buffoon as a primary love interest. Tamaki claims to be "dominant," but is in fact being dominated in almost every single way by the secondary male characters. -Kyouya is basically the most dominant character in the entire series. He's smart, badass, and basically saves the Host Club without assistance from anyone else. -The twins (Kaoru and and Hikaru) regularly turn Tamaki into the "butt mon…

It's less that someone with a high RMV would be unable to find casual sex and more that someone with a low RMV would only be able to find casual sex. I find that hard to believe. I asked my friends about all of this, and all of them had similar stories to tell. I don't know why your experience is so different. I do know that it's probably not going to stay that different, but hey, I'm a stranger, I don't know you.

1.) Not everyone is having casual sex. People around them might be PRETENDING to have casual sex, but hookup culture is largely a myth, particularly in high school, which is where these kids have a lot of problems getting casual sex. 2.) These nerds will one day grow older, learn contraception, get a job, and get their own place. They'll become intelligent, fun people to hang out with. Then, they'll get casual sex on their own. I'm a BP woman, just for the record. In my opinion, I think everyone should use their strengths to supplement another person's strengths, which thus makes the relationship stronger. In many cases, RP works because RP relies on society's perceptions of gender, sex, and love. Many women are more "feminine" because that's what society wants them to be, whereas many men are "masculine" for the same reason. The "feminine" and "masculine" traits naturally complement one another, which is why they've b…

I didn't have sex until I was out of high school, and when I did, I found myself surprised that doggy style didn't actually have to involve anal sex. People lie about having sex in high school. Very few people are actually having sex in high school - and in my state you could tell who they were because they almost inevitably got knocked up.

By the standards of this sub, I was attractive (not a 9 out of 10, but maybe a 7 out of 10) until I turned 16, which is when I fucked up my face (severely broken nose), lost my contacts, and gained 30 pounds. At first I was despondent about it, but then as time went on I started to enjoy it. No horny high school boys constantly harassing me? No weird locker room glares? It's called gaslighting. That isn't the only part of gaslighting, but it is a large one - making the victim believe that the abuse isn't that bad, that it's their fault, or that they have some sort of obligation to terrible parents - and it's not a gendered phenomenon. My SO has been gaslighted so badly that he's trying to justify the fact that his mother threw him out of her house in the middle of December (while we were visiting for Christmas!) over the fact that he didn't share her religious …

A lot of times it's because abusive families tend to brainwash their victims. Think about it. If you wanted to abuse and take advantage of your child, wouldn't you brainwash them while their minds are pliant and malleable? I'd say it's not an epidemic of unattractive men. It's more an epidemic of men who have set their expectations too high. (To be fair, I'd say most women have similar problems.) An unattractive guy (who by the way probably isn't going to be played by Matthew McConaghey in the autobiography about his life) isn't going to get in bed with Stacy unless Stacy's a high-class hooker and he pays her well for her time. A lot of women could have done most of those things and decided not to for similar reasons. Does that make their stories somehow invalid? The fact remains that TC was sexually assaulted, is one of the only adult men in Hollywood who has admitted to this, and could likely help other men admit much worse sexual assault if we'd discuss it. If this happened to a woman, people would listen. I hear a lot of people on all sides saying the same. Why aren't we doing better? Maybe this instance isn't the …

I think it's important to discuss this because this happened in a context where Terry felt he wasn't able to say no or report subsequent misbehavior. Why is coddling such a bad thing in this instance?

Friendship is different from Nice Guy-ing the fuck out of a woman who's too polite to tell you to leave her alone. True friendship - the kind where you enjoy one another's company - is an incredibly good thing when it comes to romantic relationships. Nice Guy-ing? That's just pathetic.

I'm definitely 4. I'd say that my type has helped me avoid some really bad relationships. Actually, women who end up in abusive relationships typically report a cycle. Their partner starts out as kind, charming, and genuinely good-natured. In the beginning, he does "treat her right," possibly even better than another, non-abusive man might treat her. The women are idealized by their partner - maybe not put on a pedestal, but definitely idealized in a way that a typical man might not be on-board with. It feels good... at first. It's not technically sexist. It's just weird as hell. The sexist part is the fact that you haven't stopped to wonder whether or not this would threaten the woman in question. A guy who weighs 300 pounds and spends his entire life playing WoW isn't going to fuck Paris Hilton. He might have to settle for a quiet, dorky-looking girl who also spends her entire life playing WoW.

I expect a man who's as intelligent as I am. He also has to have a good sense of humor, and a strong jaw (most of my family members have very narrow, weak jaws). I'd like it if he had symmetrical feet. Don't ask me why. It's probably some weird primal shit that I couldn't explain if I tried. I want him to be comfortable. I can't be sexually attracted to someone who I can't be comfortable with. This means no head games, no gaslighting, no flirting with other girls, and no withholding information …

Fair enough. My point was more that even "bitches" have positive qualities.

I'm pretty sure most know that tidbit. Edit: Considering the fact that the words are so similar that many people in the US pronounce them in the exact same way...

It's in the word. The word "shrew" is etymologically related to the word "shrewd."

Honestly, I think the term "shrew" doesn't really get at the heart of why some men hate bitchy women while others seem to really enjoy them. I'm a bitch, but I'm also intelligent, competent, kind (when you aren't fucking minors or sexually assaulting teenage girls with mental illnesses), and brave in the face of horrible shit. I'm the most loyal partner anyone could ever ask for. Many of the women these men unfairly castigate as "shrews" are similar, and that deserves to be said.

I'd say this is because shrews have personalities and aren't just caricatures of the traits you seem to despise so much about them. Guess what? Some men like women with tempers (see: my mother's entire dating history). Some men like women with intelligence and a witty sense of humor. Some men like successful women. Some men like bitches. Deal.

Can confirm. Am shrew, am in happy relationship.

Men don't hit on me, insult my appearance, or make lewd jokes about me because they know I'm in a long-term, established relationship, and they respect my SO more than they ever respected me. That was a large part of why my interactions with men were so unpleasant before I got with my SO.

/1.) Male is born into a decent family, gets a good education. Maybe at 16 he gets a job. He gets into multiple relationships, fools around a little bit in high school, but doesn't lose his reproductive virginity until about 18, when he goes to college and has the ability to buy and use condoms without parental interference. Hopefully his parents provide him with contraceptives, but we can't assume that. By about 22, he graduates college and starts looking for a decent job. During this time, he …

I think we need to reframe this conversation. Many women who have achieved greatness did it in spite of the fact that they were shoved in a box. They had to either rebel against society's expectations of them (like Frida Kahlo) or they had to shrink their artistic drives into something that could fit around them (Jane Austen). There's an essay by Virginia Woolfe, called "A Room Of One's Own," wherein she describes the requirements for creating art. They're very basic - "A woman must have money a…

I think it's less about obsession and more about the freedom to follow that obsession.

Before I got with my SO, the majority of my interactions with men were... well, pretty shitty (most of those interactions were either with arrogant-yet-incompetent writing colleagues or dates). Now that I'm with my SO, the majority of my interactions with men are either neutral or downright positive. Gee, I wonder why that is. /s

The custom has never been observed. It's a figment of collective Hollywood imagination. The actual custom has always been, "People with money first. You poor motherfuckers can freeze and drown." EDIT: If it were me or my SO, I'd pick my SO every time. Not because of gender equality or anything dumb like that, but because I don't want to outlive him. A strange man? He can go kick rocks.

/1 - In this hypothetical situation, either (A) your girlfriend isn't well matched with you sexually, (B) one of you isn't making an effort, or (C) this is a new thing. In the case of A, break up with her, but do it kindly. She deserves to find someone who's well-matched with her. In the case of B: Who isn't making an effort? If you're trying to keep sex fun and she keeps shutting you out, you probably should dump her. If you're one of those missionary-only dudes who doesn't enjoy oral and is in…

Anyone who says "I am useless" or "I was useless because I didn't do X" probably has some kind of mental illness, but I was mostly going by your summary. You implied that you had been through plenty of BP resources, which implies at least a running knowledge of therapy. Maybe I read too much into it; IDK. Now for your questions. \1 - I say that RP self help is bullshit because it simultaneously pulls from more educated sources and denies the fact that those sources had any impact on the final pr…
