I honestly wouldn’t have any fucking clue how to date at this point in my life. I’m not even sure I want another serious relationship. I’ve felt so devoid of any real feelings lately that all I’m doing is working. I went an entire week without talking to anyone outside of work (except my children). I sat at home on friday night and had no clue what to do with myself. I’m not sure life can get any lower right now … living above my brother in laws garage with a twin bed, dresser and a lamp … come …

I feel like mine is gearing up … just a gut feeling and the coldness of responses about kid duties. Ask me a year from now or after I start moving some real shit out of the house.

Holy shit … is this what post divorce is like once you start dating again? I’m looking to get my own place later this summer and really can’t wait!

Hey man … listen to me when I say this … it’s been almost 6 months since she broke the news to you about this. I read over your post history and honestly it brought a tear to my eye. You are a decent guy and it’s pretty clear, to me at least, she cheated on you for whatever reason. Take my advice and move on. Find some hobbies or do something you truly enjoy. Find yourself and let yourself heal. You deserve better then her and better then how you are living life right now. Blowing up the situati…

Well you’ve come to the right place friend. Sometimes people just grow apart and still love each other. Obviously I don’t know the specifics of your situation but it sounds like she wants to be divorced and there is always a reason … no matter what. Not saying there is infidelity or ill will towards you … just that there is a reason she wants divorced, could be something specific or something much more nuanced that has built over time.

I love the “you moved on so quickly” … the mental gymnastics never cease to amaze me. Stay strong friend.

Yeah … 3 and 6 alone would do it for me.

So this is fairly complicated and I would advise you seek legal counsel. Custody laws vary from state to state and since you aren’t the biological father of some of these children and have custody of some of the others they are going to be some significant issues you need to work out.

First … I’m in that boat right now. I left right after Xmas and my living situation is not conducive to having the kids. Second … it’s still your house and your children. Demand time with the kids whether she is there or not. I just had that conversation with my soon to be ex last night … told her she didn’t have a say in the matter if we were keeping the house and she was living there … funny how agreeable she was with that arrangement but so unwilling to change her behavior to save the marriag…

Be careful here … I wouldn’t reveal you did this to an attorney or your wife or anyone. Depending on the state you live in this could be a summary offense…a la a crime. Now that you know she is cheating … I would make arrangements to somehow catch them in the act or find some other tangible evidence. Adultery in no fault states is not a relevant factor in divorce … though it may off set alimony payment as a mitigating circumstance again though depending on the state you live in.

This guy gets it … funny cause you sound exactly like my therapist … and she told me the same thing! So … remember that you need to work on that 50% too … otherwise it will seep into your new relationship like a slow dripping poison. I’m already fit … both physically and financially but there is some emotional shit I gotta clean up before I even consider getting romantically involved with another woman. So keep that piece in mind.

I’ve never cheated but am sympathetic to those that do. I have a friend that opened up to me about his affair one night while we’re were liquored up … turns out his wife hadn’t had sex with him since 2019 and hasn’t kissed him since 2022 … he literally remembers the dates. He broken down in tears, sobbing uncontrollably. She told him several years ago it wouldn’t bother her at all to never have sex again. He has three young boys and is a school principal. Great looking guy and in decent shape to…

I didn’t have the porn issue but this is why I left … dead bedroom and no interest or initiation on her part. When it did happened I got the starfish treatment as well. I just couldn’t take it anymore. I told a friend yesterday I felt like my sex life was held hostage. Funny part is we got along really well in all other aspects of our marriage except that. At 52 I just couldn’t allow my sex life to be put in someone else’s pocket any longer.

I think you reached the last straw friend. Also … that money she’s been withdrawing from the retirement plan is a material asset … you may be entitled to the equity from date of marriage…so she may be in for a rude awakening on that loan she took out without your knowledge.

We are all in a weird place.

You are likely entitled to half the martial assets … even equity in the 401k from date of marriage. It’s advisable to get an attorney but a simple google search of Florida family law asset division will tell you all you need to know … the judge can’t take that away from you but you can negotiate it if you choose.

Confront her … it’s the only way you will break the cycle, then tell her to move out. She’s cheating, plain and simple.

Eat it and be done … 6k is t worth the amount of stress you’ll endure and if she’s out of state it’ll be even more of a headache. Call the credit card company and explain the situation or transfer the balance to another card and close it out.

Typically it’s only after the date of marriage but each state is different.

If it’s still your house then demand he moves out immediately …. or tell her she needs to pay you your half or sell outright. Shit will change real fast. The house is an asset not her personal Airbnb for whomever she wants to live there with her.
