That’s where I have to disagree. I haven’t seen peer reviewed data that concludes this, if you know of any please send me a link I’m down to change my mind with convincing evidence. Masculinity and femininity have been massively over romanticised, they are outdated in the way you prescribe them. Times change, the scientific method evolves and improves, and things that we once thought to be widely true become more nuanced and sometimes transition out of truth completely. Expression is individual,…

Playing with barbies doesn’t make you into anything. Did playing with your GI joe make you a soldier? Did playing in the sand pit and jungle gym make you an architect or an triathlete? I will concede to you that ppl will be loud and wrong about what is or isn’t toxic, I’d suggest looking into the actual sociological studies on the matter. But the point is let other dudes do what they want without shaming them, if it isn’t harming anyone why get so upset about it. Ppl are so scared that men can b…

Now you’ve explained a bit more I’m understanding where you are coming from. I apologise for misrepresenting your view bro. I forgot we were actually talking specifically about rejection like an idiot

Oh lol, nah that’s cool man. I appreciate your measured reply. Also the critique is helpful. Whilst I agree with your statement about the negative externalities, I think there is always a negative effect of large social movements. However I don’t think it’s helpful to focus on those, as they aren’t the core message and are often a result of that ‘sjw’ nonsense about, which more often than not does not come close to the harm done by the behaviour/system the movement is calling out.

I’m not gonna spend more time on you. But I will say this, toxic masculinity is a very charged term and can make insecure men feel attacked. The terms purpose, is to label behaviours that men have which are harmful to men, and women. It’s a critique of social behavioural norms, and if you’re so fragile you can’t see that it’s used to try and make the world better for both men and women, you don’t understand what it is to grow and progress and get better with time. Stay the same as you are, don’t…

How did you interpret what I said in such a distorted way? I’ll assume it’s just miscommunication. What I’m saying is awareness is the first step to fixing a problem, and that’s at the core those movements. If women (and their witnesses) didn’t speak up about their assaults there would be many men unaware of the issues with their behaviours. Does that make sense? (Genuine question, no shade bro)

Being older doesn’t make you an authority my friend. Yes, some women will ‘play the game’, as do some men. Hard to get is a strategy afterall, but it’s not descriptive of ‘women’ in general. Plus my issue was with you acting like sexual harassment awareness movements were somehow wrong or made up? Learning from our mistakes as men, and I mean all men, is how we improve and make the world better. Surely growing from your mistakes is an attractive quality

I feel your vibe, but there is nuance, and denying it doesn’t help either party understand it. Yes no means no. But to act like people don’t use no in the way referred above is a bit disingenuous imo. I assumed this is a place to help navigate nuanced situations or an i off base here with my perspective?

Bro what you were saying was kinda okay until you refer to literal movement about sexual assault against women as ‘BS’. Get off your culture war diet and come live with us in the future

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
