I got into lapidary and silversmithing this time around. I did the gym phase back a decade ago.

It's gold for a rainy day. If your next wife is worried about it, offer to let her collapse it with a hammer(put something leather under it though to ensure no gold is lost)

We first discussed divorce in June 2019 with a goal of being in separate housing by the end of the year. It was toxic AF. She refused to find a job/ support herself. Then she blew her knee out at the gym in mid-october and us separating became financially impossible. Then covid... it ended badly and she left, with the kids, to her mother's in Chicago.

My ex is a recovering catholic, but that shit left a stain on her soul. My fave was her "I said I'm sorry, I'm forgiven, I can just repeat this tomorrow" antics...

I met someone new just 4 months after separation/ as I was starting to work with a lawyer to get divorce. We're still together, coming up on 4 years in just a couple of weeks. I definitely hadn't been looking for a relationship and she also wasn't the first woman I'd met. I had already checked out of my marriage nearly a year prior, so it wasn't like I was blindsided by the divorce and I was ready to be dating.

Are you taking any prescription drugs? Wellbutrin killed my ability to finish when i was taking it... it may be worth investigating.

9 days... I was laid off for 9 days when things exploded. We were in a bad place already, barely holding it together when together... I had broached divorce in April '19... Filed June 2020, finalized May '21.

I hope you've already filed paperwork... if not, she can take them and go...

What in the toxic crap is your friend spouting? He's a red flag. You're letting his jealousy of their ease of dating devalue your opinion of this person. Maybe the person you're interested is more interested in life than in kids; maybe they're still looking for their "one"... Practice safe sex, go get an std test together. Don't be afraid of their dating history.

Do not let her push you into becoming something you're not. The best victory is living your best life. If that means releasing family relationships, so be it. But yeah... Even after the Depp/Herd trials you'd think people would acknowledge that there is often more to a story

DMT. Use the clarity to purge any remaining vestiges of attachment/emotional baggage. Like others have also said, work on yourself; go to gym, get outdoors, take a class at the local community College, learn a new hobby, etc.

Sounds like an unhealthy environment already if you were ready to leave years ago. How is that affecting your kids? Toxic passivity and repressed feelings can do terrible things to a person. Maybe what's best is moving on and being happy with your own life in order to be the best parent you can be. You can make more money, you can't mulligan raising kids.

I know nothing of Michigan(assumption based on handle) family court. I'm in Washington and courts prefer 50/50

Be thankful her mom is only a few hours away, not thousands of miles. Hope it works out in your favor.

Well, I think you just answered your own question... Verifying income as an easier task for most court systems, so they might just be mad at her and it will end in your favor. Best of luck.

The system thinks you owe it more money... Sorry about that.

Yeah, that's the crux of the issue... Per parenting plan they're scheduled to be with me for this holiday break. According to the state of Washington, unless lockdowns are in place parenting plans must be honored. She isn't going to take them to the airport.

She works in retail. At a mall. Yet is choosing to play this card. One of the things that ended our marriage was her constant need to create road blocks...

Once you open pandora's box, don't hang around if the situation turns toxic. You may think you'll be ok with it, but that shit poisons thinking & reactions.

It's not about politics, it's about attitude, social views and being a decent human. Just reading some of the election material from this sleaze is enough to make me fume and commend the judge for limiting the children's exposure to his toxic views and rhetoric. Unfortunately yes, lawyers are the only true winners.

Yeah... Maybe an endorsement from a pathological liar didn't go over well in court. I hear that's called consequences of your actions.

I deleted the majority of the pictures that were just my ex. I even deleted a few of her and the kids. They hurt, a visual reminder of the better times from our marriage.

I let fear of mental health issues cloud my judgements in regards to my divorce. I stayed way too long and it ended badly. In hindsight, I was creating mountains out of mole hills because I had my own fears/issues that I wasn't addressing.

Enjoying your time apart is healthy for all parties. I know gaming is a draw, as it's an easy escape and can be a healthy outlet; you may also find that doing activities will give you things to share with your kids as they grow.

Don't hesitate to move them, take them to a friend or your parents. She's looking for excuses... Hopefully it gets better for you.

Oh, and she is 37 without kids. People like that are out there, living their best life for themselves...

Get out while it's cheap! You're 28, live your best life. Grow into the person you want to be(unless you want to be an asshole, don't be an asshole), for yourself, and a partner will come. I got back into dating at 39, last year as lockdowns were lifted. I met a wonderful, intelligent, caring and far fewer incompatibilities woman on Tinder. She was the 5th woman I interviewed for the position(that sounds crass and really hoity, but fuck I want to know your issues and share mine before I consider…

Lawyer up, the expense is worth it. Both parties need to agree to a parenting plan, so don't feel she in control.

That's a terrible idea. If you're at the point of considering splitting, just do it. Don't waste your financial future on a partner you have doubts with.

That space will change you into something you don't want to be... File. Move on. For yourself and your kids.

Just be sure to document any and all monies given as support. My divorce isn't final and we've been separated since last April. We still have a joint checking account that I no longer use, except to deposit support money into for my kids. I was advised by my lawyer that not providing this could be taken as abandonment by the court.

We are not together. Our separation was unnecessarily ugly and I don't recommend suffering thinking it makes you a good guy. It will rot you from the inside. If home life is a stressor, separating becomes helpful to a person with hypertension/high BP.

I know. I worried the same, though my ex was/is unable to support herself and I stayed because as the sole provider I was afraid that she would take the kids and run home to her folks over 2k miles away. I stayed trying to get her to a place we could coparent, but she suffered an injury and derailed the plan of her getting back to work. The canker of my desire to leave the relationship destroyed me from the inside out and brought about my worst fears by my own hand

Jobs come and jobs go. If you're unhappy and thinking of divorce, don't suffer longer thinking the situation will change; you will change. It will have negative effects on your mood, reactions and general attitude by staying. How much have you invested in your social support network, do you have friends that will help you get through it?

That terrible movie comes to mind, mile 22 or some shit... One of the characters, the gal from walking dead, had something like that on her phone. Kept freaking out at it all movie...
