I second this. 5x5 is going to have little effect on your physique. The reason I recommended it, was for people who have never lifted before and are relatively "weak", and who don't have the experience to go out and start with their own/more complex program. It definitely will help with building strength and will prepare you for something that actually will give you physical gains, but as I mentioned, eventually you'll have to graduate to something else.

Well then maybe you should unsubscribe. The point of the post was to bring to light the hidden effects that lifting has, and how it has helped to motivate me to finally get out and do things I previously hadn't felt I was able to do. And I understand that TRP has a much wider spectrum of topics, but college is often where guys are introduced to TRP, and I want to highlight some of the rationale why we push new people to lift, rather than the obvious "just go out and get huge".

Not to mention the cyclical pattern this creates. The higher levels of T you have, the better you will be able to perform in the gym, leading to better muscle mass and strength, which causes an increase in T. You get the idea.

I think he means he was able to successfully complete 4 sets of 5 reps, with 4 reps of the final set, failing on the last rep. Confused me too at first.

I had to get a benign tumor removed. The reason I couldn't do physical activity until it was removed was because had the tumor ruptured, I could have bled out in minutes.

I would say they would probably be comparable. You're getting exercise doing something you like, you are working on developing skills in something you are interested in and you probably have the confidence (depending on how long you've been doing it) that if you ever get mugged walking down the sidewalk, you can make that motherfucker regret everything he just did haha.

I can't really say either way, but with lifting you're targeting specific muscles, whereas with something like that, it would be more cardio/overall strength training (can't say definitively though because I'm no expert in the field haha). I also do judo in conjunction with lifting, so maybe you can find a way to incorporate both into your lifestyle.

Bodybuilding with the goal of looking like you've been taking steroids for 17 years; sure that's not good (nor do I personally think it looks all that great), but lifting to get stronger and create an appropriate muscle mass increase is absolutely fine and most certainly recommended. The only real argument you have here that is valid, is the use of BS supplements and steroids. In order to experience the best results from lifting, no supplements are necessary, you just need to ensure that your di…

That's a great point I hadn't considered when writing this, and actually just read that most guys will lose motivation in the 3-6 month period. For the time being (rest of the semester) I'm not too concerned with this, being that I'm just now beginning to feel the internal and external benefits of lifting, not to mention the gym is less than 5 minutes walking distance from where I live, so I can't use the drive/trip as a way to justify not going.

It's good to hear that you're lifting, keep doing that and just keep pushing your goals higher. Testosterone is the magic chemical that can not only help you lift better (ultimately creating an ever improving lifting performance and testosterone increase cycle), but it boosts your confidence as an awesome side effect. Now in terms of building confidence and growing socially, seriously go outside, go to social events with friends, and just talk to people. Focusing on talking to girls will only he…

Yes I would say this is fine, as long as it's something you're not constantly doing, and keep it at a more sporadic level. And one tip I'm going to give you in regards to compliments; make the compliment about her. For example, if she is wearing a nice shirt that you like because it looks neat or because it compliments her features, you DO NOT want to simply say you like the shirt. You rather want to say that you like the way the shirt looks on her. You're effectively doing the same thing as say…

I don't think that the GentlemenMindset meant the TOPICS that are discussed with your friends, but rather they WAY you talk to them. Because trust me, no girl wants to hear about your stance on politics and religion on the first few dates. You don't go around talking about your personal problems and emotions with your friends. You talk about bullshit, you joke with them, you make fun/harass them, you genuinely enjoy your time with them, etc etc. Now you may not want to be as harsh with the ladie…

Haha oh the confusion I once had as well. Sucks doesn't it? Essentially when you're first starting out with a girl you have sexual interest in, your goal is bantering essentially making playful fun of them, disagreeing with their opinions, etc etc. If and when things progress, and I'm not talking later meet ups, but rather down the road during that interaction, those questions would be great to ask (having a balance of funny/mean yet serious conversation is all part of calibrating the interactio…

Thanks man, glad to know this is just a phase and I'm not permanently fucked lol. I definitely plan to start doing a whole lot of shit to really get my new red pill life started once I get to college in a few weeks. Hopefully lifting and excessive socializing will finally destroy my AA among other worries. I've been reading TRP literature for quite some time (actually just bought The Definitive Book of Body Language and Influence yesterday rather than reading them as PDFs). (Reason for the post …

The thing that is important to note is that while attraction does not have to be said upfront (preferably not that way at all), it must be pursued in one way or another, or else before you know it you're in the "zone" or she simply disappears. This "don't show attraction yet tell her how you feel" paradox can be solved by simply doing the above and making it clear that she isn't your only option, and that you'll be willing to walk away at a moments notice.
