I feel like once an accusation is proven false, the accuser should be sentenced to the same punishment they were looking to impose on their target. There needs to be a solid deterrent to trying to destroy someone's life through the misuse of the justice system.

Seems wildly unfair. I'd assume it's based on current income/earning power so if you change jobs it adjusts accordingly. Anything else and you basically have the ability to make a highly paid person homeless because their huge paycheck isn't enough to pay for their own home anymore. OK, so it sounds like they weren't guilty of anything other than misdemeanor theft and maybe some slander. I'm curios if at some point they'd have pushed the sexual assault claims as a means of defense making it official. Then pulling the video out would cause a shit-storm. I've seen videos of people driving for Uber with passengers "behaving badly". At this point there's no way I'd drive people around as a job without a loop recorder going to protect myself legally.

When does a "police report happen" I was under the impression that simply telling a police officer that a crime had occurred counted. If there's a formal time in which "it counts" he'd have been better off to wait and use the video as evidence then. I'm supposing the cops just treated it as "people being drunk and stupid" and typically lets people sleep it off if there's no damage done. Not enough evidence? Filing a false police report (for which there was overwhelming evidence) is a pretty serios crime (Source: 1, 2). I'd also say there was a strong case for slander/defamation too. I'd suppose you'd have to include a provision where your punishment is dramatically mitigated for admitting having "made a mistake" before irrefutable evidence of lying had been presented. I'd only want the accusing party punished if there were sufficient evidence they were blatantly lying with the intent to use the legal system to attack someone. Not simply finding the accused party innocent. I'd never want someone to fear coming forward. I'd like to push for legislation that if someone is caught maliciously leveling false accusations against someone, that they themselves receive the full punishment they were attempting to impose on their target. Women in prison: It is equality to treat (female offenders) differently to men It seems the author doesn't understand the definition of the word equality. If some point is trying to be made here I'd suggest the use of "fair" rather than "equality". Even then it would be a polarizing topic, but at least not a lie in definition.

Pretty much nailed it... Federal politicians rarely do anything for the sole benefit of the american people. Virtually everything is political posturing in an effort to get into an office. Once in office don't expect them to honor any promises to anyone that didn't fund their campaign. I'm not so sure of that; she doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool int he shed. I'd be willing to venture a guess that she sees herself as an unprovoked victim and the her target as crazy and violent.
