Never in a million years would I tolerate that kind of behavior from someone who supposedly "loved" me. I'd rather be single than deal with someone that vile, immature, abusive, and manipulative. I'd immediately cut contact and never speak to that piece of shit again. So no, terrible advice for anyone who wants a mature, respectful relationship. If you want nonstop drama, misery and game playing, do exactly as described above.

Yes, I would definitely agree that relationship I linked was very disfunctional, due to mismatched expectations and personalities. As your relationship proves, there are many submissive/dominant relationships that work just fine, and they are perfectly healthy. No worries there! Thank you for your perspective, I'm glad you're in a happy and healthy dynamic, and all the best to you. :)

I understand what you mean by submission. Submission is submitting to someone else. How that is achieved varies due to different circumstances and personalities. That's why I chose those links--because they are an example of one person wanting another person to submit, and the other person not happy with that dynamic. That is desiring another person to be happy with an unhealthy level of submission, because it does not make them happy. As your submissive relationship is your choice, I don't thin…

Thank you, I'm glad you found me reasonable. :) I don't read RPW, so I can't give you an example from that sub. From what little I have seen of RPW, the majority of ladies seem very happy with their submissive role in their relationships, and I'm not concerned about those that are happy in their submissive role. If they are happy, awesome! I was actually thinking of a recent thread on r/relationships from the perspective of a woman being treated as submissive by her boyfriend, and she did not wa…

Well, sure, since one part of the relationship isn't happy in the dynamic, an "official" Dom/sub relationship (which requires explicit and ongoing consent) probably isn't the situation in those instances. I'm not describing a consenting Dom/sub relationship, I'm describing an unofficial/quasi dominant/submissive, manipulative relationship where one party isn't happy in that dynamic and the other isn't willing to obtain consent, or act in a healthy, cooperative manner to obtain said consent. That…

I hear you about pleasing others--I was definitely a pushover in my younger years, and I still struggle with boundaries and stating my needs. I'm getting better, but I think that's why I am extremely adverse to submissiveness in my relationship dynamics--I never want to feel that way again, because even my good friends didn't treat me as kindly as they should. When I stood up for myself after friends took advantage of me, I lost those friendships, and that was a very hard realization. Some peopl…

I understand. It sucks having your choices dismissed and undervalued, and it feels SO DAMN PATRONIZING when people think they know what's best for you better than you know yourself. You know, I think that's what I fear the most when I think of expectations around gendered submissiveness--in the past, I was a meek, submissive woman, and it did not served me well. I was very passive aggressive, I never spoke my needs and found my voice, and it damaged my personal and professional life (I've felt v…

Please don't take offense, that's why I ended with: If the sub desires it and is fulfilled by it, more power to you. That's not what anyone objects to, it's the worry that the sub is not a willing participant. I was just offering my thoughts on why people might get up in arms about women and submissiveness in relationships. You are obviously very happy in your arrangement, I don't think anyone looks at you and thinks you need rescuing. It was not my intention to lump you into that box, and I apo…

What I'm really hearing is "trust me. I know what's best for you. You don't even know how much you hate yourself, but I promise you that you do, whether you recognize it or not." It's incredibly condescending. This is what I see when I read conversations on TRP discussing women's inner lives. In fact, this is what people are reacting to, and those who may be hostile to submissive women might think their dominant partners are actually acting this way to the submissive partner. The concern is that…
