Make friends with bartenders. They often know about what's going on in town, have a sense of who's who, and most importantly, offer social proof when you walk in the place.

They are both manipulative, but the difference is that The Rules don't work. They are applying Game theory to men, but men are far too simple for that. I'm no expert on "The Rules". I've only read the "Top 10" from the link above. Maybe there's more to it than just that. But, from what I can tell, it seems more about how you treat yourself than how to manipulate men. Head back to my place, pop in a movie- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Great date flick. Now, in my room I have a small little couch. GET A FUCKING COUCH. Chairs are awful- because then you're either sitting separate or awkwardly trying to get her on your lap somehow. Couches encourage instant kino and there's no distance, really. Every time I've watched "Eternal Sunshine" I've made out with a different girl. That movie makes them melt for some reason.
