She is on the Canadian $20 bill as Queen of Canada, not as British monarch.

What amazes me is that this chap somehow managed to get himself into a situation whereby a girl actually wanted to have sex with him. Baffling.

Don't you see... Who has been behind all the great disasters throughout history? It's been men every time! It was a man that was piloting the Hindenburg. It was a man that decided to invade Russia in 1941. It was a man that decided New Coke was a good idea. I think she is onto something here, we should welcome this new era of enlightened women leading the way.

From the Green Party Policy website: CJ381 Recognising the nature of the female prison population, with high levels of mental illness, experience of being a victim of crimes such as sexual assault and domestic violence, and caring responsibilities for children, the only women who should be in custody are those very few that commit serious and violent crimes and who present a threat to the public. CJ382 For the vast majority of women in the criminal justice system, solutions in the community are …

That's Caroline Lucas, an MP for Brighton Pavilion. She's part of the Green Party, who are a special kind of crazy. (Wanting to reduce immigration controls even further, dismantle the armed forces, reduce prison terms for women, etc)

UK guys on stag party come here with cheap flights, get cheep beer and pussy pretty easy I hope that isn't the only exposure of British culture you've had...if so you must have a terribly low opinion of the British. I apologise for the terrible actions of my countrymen.

The thought of OP doing this just as the ex-gf turns up to apologise is a hilarious mental image.

It is UKIP I'm talking about! Some of the students here don't seem to understand that there is a difference between the BNP and UKIP.

At the moment this is happening at my university (UK). There is a petition to the Student's Union to get one of the major political parties in this country effectively banned from campus (Not allowed to invite representatives of the party to speak on campus, students not allowed to set up a student society for that party, etc). It's not even as if it's a fringe party either, they have representation in parliament and actually won a national election earlier in the year. The arguments are basical…

My grandfather is 94 and he still exercises everyday and he is in better shape than a lot of people 3 decades younger than him!

That depends where you are. Here in the UK it is a fairly common phrase.

What sort of evolution are you talking about when you refer to the "classical" sense? The idea of religion and traditions being the result of adaptive evolution pre-dates the theory of biological evolution. In the Seventeenth century we had the likes of Mathew Hale arguing that "Long experience makes more discoveries touching conveniences or inconveniences of laws than is possible for the wisest council of men at first to foresee". Gradually, over the following centuries theories emerged that sh…

Does obesity differ by class in America? I feel like in the UK the prevalence of obesity is much higher amongst Working class people. I don't have any statistics to back this up, but certainly in my experience the Middle class seem to be in better shape overall. I'd be interested to see if any fellow Brits agree with me here or if I'm suffering from confirmation bias.

Brit here. I suspect that these figures aren't actually true, but it's hard to say for certain. Attitudes vary across social classes, so I think that the age an average middle class person loses their virginity differs to that of a working class person.

Brief mention is made of 'some rights' being granted by cohabitation but it explicitly doesn't include the half yer shit scenario. IIRC cohabitation has some implications for some means tested benefits.

For some reason your comment made me laugh a lot. I imagined you shaving your hair immediately, right in front of her in some strange primal display of dominance.

I've had a sudden flashback to a few years ago when a highly attractive girl told me that one day she would like to marry me when she's older, the implication being that I will probably be wealthy in the future. At the time I took this as a great compliment, but now I agree with your thinking: I don't want to end up with an aging woman whose SMV is rapidly deteriorating.

To be fair she is writing in a British newspaper, where house prices are so extortionate that owning property is not a realistic proposition for most young people any more (well certainly in the South East/London).
