The problem here is that if a woman decides to abort, there is no baby. If only the man decides to "abort", there's still a baby that needs to be taken care of. The child is the innocent party here, it didn't choose to be born to people who wouldn't care for it. Is it irresponsible for a woman to give birth to a child if she knows she can't adequately care for it? Extremely. But what's at stake here is the rights of the child, not the rights of the parents.
