So much of what you said resonated with me. I've also had friends who were a huge drain on my time and emotions. I'm not 100% sure I'd expect male friends to always pay on shared outings, but to always be respectful, absolutely. Ugh, I really need to get rid of some of those emotional vampires from my life.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I'm curious about your comment re: being more lenient with your friends. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I lean towards the opposite. Like in my busy life, I only have time for so many friends, so the ones in my inner circle must be super high quality ones. I feel like I'm a little more lenient with my partner because...I have more of a vested interest in him? I'm not really sure how to put it. Hey thanks for sharing. I 100% agree with everything that you’ve said and I’m exactly the same way. And I’m just coming to realize that women are not men. I think I’ve always sorted treated them the same but thinking about this question....I’m now thinking that they’re not. My male friendships do seem different in some way. That makes me feel I need to me more guarded and not just my loving self. Hm.

What is it that guys get out of texting? A little bit of external validation? A quick pick me up? Is it really enough emotional intimacy for them (if it isn’t enough for us? Like are their needs lower than ours by so much?)
