Side note: if you're butthurt about drawing parallels between the usual radical ignorance we see now and Nazis, compare the logic in this thread to third reich logic: someone asserted that Marxists dont deserve rights, someone else asserted that all conflicts need to be settled by physical force, and multiple insisted that apparently blind nationalism is best. If you can with a level head compare these things and come out feeling the same way, maybe you need to re-evaluate who you are.

You're right on the first part; i consider it a responsibility of every citizen to keep nationalism from becoming ugly, and part of that is applying rationale as to why you love it. If you personally feel unhappy with your nation, i believe its your right (and if you want something done about your concerns, its an obligation) to express that. Is not the act of extinguishing the flag that would escalate conflict; its the infringement of first ammendment rights, like i said earlier.

Its meant to be from the perspective of a riot cop. Its painting killing protesters as a good thing; painting people defending their civil rights as less than worthy of decency. Its the same mentality as justifying a war with the USSR because the "faceless red tide" isn't human.
