Continuances are not via mutual agreement and either side can ask for and get one with almost any excuse The judge asked "Buddy" if he wanted one, he chose against it. If Exwife's lawyer wasn't smart enough to ask for one himself, that's on the lawyer. Also, the filings were for contempt of court and a restraining order. He wasn't trying to get the custody order modified, just enforced. You don't need family court to get someone to obey a court order

Original post says "Buddy" filed claiming Exwife was in contempt of court, she filed a restraining order. Since it seems neither wanted to modify custody/support, that "Buddy" just wanted her to do what the court ordered, my guess is family court wasn't needed to handle either filing

I once had a coworker that had Down's Syndrome, but if you spoke with him, you could tell he was as sharp as anyone else. Basically the appearance of your "standard" Down's afflicted person, but none(at least not obvious) of the mental issues. Little shit abused it to the fullest. He'd dick around, take his sweet time, do half-assed work, etc, etc, and when the boss came around, boss had nothing but praise for the guy. Everyone else knew he was full of shit, but nothing could be done.

Same thing I was thinking. It doesn't matter who is the caregiver and who is the breadwinner, the caregiver is going to be with the children more than the breadwinner because, dur, the breadwinner is working to support the family. It also wouldn't surprise me if a majority of the incarcerated parents were from split families anyway, and the mother is the one who usually retains custody in those split families, so of course the child is going to have a stronger bond with the mother

This is the single most sickening part of the article: "When Tom died we had over 200 cards with everyone saying what a good friend he was and how he would help everyone but no one was there to help him in his darkest hours. Two. Hundred. That sat by and did nothing until after he was dead. I think if I were the parent, I might consider those cards a slap in the face instead of a comfort.

I'm one of the lucky ones that actually has decent, respectable family*. So if I ever had kids, I'd trust any of my family to watch them. Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky. *Mother's side is Catholic, Father's side is Presbyterian, both sides have kept a philosophy of "the actions of others are not my responsibility" Prime example is my grandmother and a cousin. Cousin got pregnant before marriage and while grandma wasn't happy about it, she hasn't treated cousin any differently and absolu…

Yep, and the last time it came up I'd mentioned that there was another father who had gotten flak for letting his kid eat at McD's.

Indeed, this shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. Doctors treat patients, if that specific doctor can't help you, they can send you to one who can.

"Son, you know how they tell you to practice safe sex? Yea... they're not talking about condoms and/or birth control, they're talking about never having sex without first going through a lawyer, a contract, and having a video camera present. And [insert deity] help you if she had even a sip of alcohol"

What the fucking bullshit is this? $500 fine, 18 months probation, Narcotics/Alcoholics Anonymous, charges reduced to "felony reckless endangerment", AND does not have to register as a sex offender. [edit]I derped formatting

Ya, that's the big one. It's silly that one father can be railed for letting their kid eat at McD's while another father can be railed for telling the kid "no"

Yep, I too remember an article or two where a father feeding their child McD's had it used against him. [Edit] For added "amusement" there's a comment in there from a different therapist that says the father did the right thing.

If the article is accurate and school officials aren't lying through their teeth, it implies that he was carrying the purse into class(it is stated that purses/bags/satchels/etc are not allowed in classrooms). Now, while it is possible he's being singled out because boy+purse, it's also possible that when told he couldn't bring it in to the classroom, he got cranky about it and that's why he got suspended. It could still be that the only reason the rule was enforced was boy+purse, but that proba…

When it was pointed out that nowhere in his message did he ask her to return home, Cole said: “Well I love my daughter, and you know what I’m definitely not the kind of man that I would say to my daughter, `Sacrifice yourself to save me.’ I will sacrifice myself to save her.” The kind of father any kid needs

The bit about adult entertainment reminds me of a scene from American Dad where an older woman working in a strip club asks Hayley who is really being exploited, the girl wiggling her T&A on stage, or the guy dropping 3 days worth of pay in 10 minutes to see it

Ex girlfriend of a buddy once mentioned how "super creepy" our old science teacher was and proceeded to ramble about how he was being creepy. I wanted to slap her and yell "No shit sherlock! You're a fucking DD cup and you just admitted to intentionally sitting in the front row while wearing a rather low cut top. His 'creepiness' is the reaction you were aiming for!"

So you could only lift a heavy object by moving a heavier and more hazardous object. Reminds me of warehouse job I had years ago. I was in monitor shipping(this was pre-LCD/LED) and we had figured out a way to "throw" monitors onto the line to ship out. We consistently got all orders finished by the end of the day with no injuries. Then OSHA came through, and the supervisor decided we needed this overly complicated vacuum lift to move the monitors onto the line.

Problem is sometimes the ones making the safety standards have no experience with the job they're trying to make safer and could end up making the job harder with a very minimal return in safety. For example, I know a couple that operate a sandblasting company. Recently someone from their health insurance came by. One thing he asked was why the blasters wrapped their boots in duct tape and then stated they shouldn't do that as it might be a slipping hazard. Here's the thing, that duct tape actua…

Job I had long ago was like that. The girls got away with all kinds of shit, broke rules left and right, and were treated like princesses by the female manager. This same female manager berated the male staff damn near every chance she got. Doing X instead of Y even though doing X was needed and Y wasn't? Get yelled at. Take more than 2 seconds to move on to the next project? Get yelled at. I think I was the only male to last more than a month. Suffice to say, when that place was shut down years…

John McFadden, the divorce attorney for Kelly Conboy, told the Times Union: "This was not an act of vengeance or spite on Mrs. Conboy's part. The reason she elected not to testify against Mr. Conboy is that would only serve to make her strained relationship with Mr. Conboy even worse and this would have a negative impact on their young daughter." Is this guy even listening to his own bullshit?

If he ignores his SO, it's potentially abusive. If he doesn't ignore his SO, it's potentially abusive. A strange game. The only winning move is not to date. Oh wait, he'd be ignoring a girl that might like him, indirectly abusing her.

Also, he said, "If you put her in jail the message you send to other people who have done this ... if you come forward we're going to lock you up." And they should be. That man lost 4 YEARS of his life and unless his record is expunged and he moves halfway across the country, he is screwed for life. If his record is not expunged, no one will care that he was actually innocent, no one will care she lied, all anyone will see is he was convicted of rape and look no further

How can a man of your size be harassed by a "little woman"? Pretty damned easy when she determines if you get to keep your job or not... Anyway, know them feels. There was a store I worked at over 10 years ago where the store manager did not like men and it showed. If you were male and she didn't like you, you got transferred to registers and was constantly berated for things the girls were getting away with left and right. I don't think I ever saw a guy last more than a month after being punted…

Bleh, dating sites are a joke as too many times you have no idea if the woman you're interested in even exists or not unless you pay up. In the past I'd signed up on some of the "reputable" sites and would get messages left and right from women, despite having nothing on my profile beyond username, sex, and age
/r/MensRights30/06/13 08:00 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
