This describes a pretty sad, abusive situation for elephants. It may have worked on females but when males reach sexual maturity, no way.

Woman here and, well said. I would like to think we occasionally have some good advice but most women I know are not honest enough to give it. There is what is acceptable for us to want and then there is reality. It's not an ideal situation for us either. Most of us are not misleading on purpose. I contribute here because I root for you guys but I always preface with my gender so you can do what you will with my 2cents. I have not read 50 Shades but I have read hundreds of other romance novels a…

Female here and no. Just no. You guys are being evaluated in all interactions same as every other human being in every other interaction. Using an evaulation card, and one that has only negatives on it at that, is not okay. Anyone who would think this is cute or helpful did you a favor in rejecting you.

Female here. Best comeback I've ever experienced to this question- He smiled slyly and said "now that is just none of your business." His smile said he was was having fun so I just assumed yes and continued to play.

Yep. Man or woman, do the right thing. Breaking up is hard but I will take a broken heart any day over a broken heart and a knife in the back.

I agree. It speaks volumes about a person if they feel they can't end a relationship and their only alternative is to cheat.

Not to make light of your situation but being depressed and having clinical depression are 2 different things. I'm glad you are doing better now.

In some cases yes. But sometimes watching a master craftsman at work can make people in a low place feel lower. Having someone make it look easy when you don't feel like you have the energy or raw materials can be discouraging. Like telling someone who has depression to cheer up. It gives the impression that you have no idea where they are coming from.

Female here. I don' have a facebook (or any other social networking account.) Just wanted to confirm much of what has been posted already. I don't know about using it to your advantage but I don't see it working against you. If it does, you are talking to the wrong girl. If a reason seems necessary- you like more intimate interactions, you are too busy and lost interest, you are hiding from the mob ;) etc. To me, you not having one would give you points because it is something we have in common …

One of my dearest friends (who is gorgeous) is with (married to and just had a baby with) one of the goofiest guys I know. I mean this in looks and personality. They are truly one of the most uneven and in love couples I have ever known. Chemistry.

Why do you assume they are white lies? Maybe you are giving off vibes saying you are having fun and not into anything serious? If these are white lies they could be the a girl protecting themselves?

It's 90% attitude. Put care and effort into grooming (5%) which helps with attitude more than you would believe. And then it is having something interesting to say (5%.) You are here reading this which means there is hope for you.

Chick here. Sorry to crash your party guys but. . . ice skating? Please. You don't have to be a pro I promise. Then warm up at a bar with a fireplace. I hooked up 2 friends on an outing like this last winter. It works.

I thought the take-home message was "confidence." Many guys struggle with this when they do not feel they have anything from the list above.

Great article and it makes sense that oxytocin is more complex than our statements relating it to relationships or bonds. I still think it is fair to say it's release and levels is linked with stronger bonds. That is was the research has supported thus far.

Same hormone is release when we look at and play with our dogs. They help develop relationships that aren't just deep, we long for them to be long-lasting.

No no no guys! (Chick lurker.) This is about learning some skills, not being a different person. Like learning to cook or dance. It's akward for a long time and then you are comfortable in the kitchen and on the dance floor and start adding your own flare to it. You are still the same person but with skills. To some guys this comes naturally. To others, they have to work at it. This is a subreddit to learn a new skill and get feedback. Not to find out "who" you should be. None of this will work …

I will gladly accept that beer when the teleporter gets up and running ;) You will go far with the Unnamed Buddy approach. Tease, make a girl laugh but still mysterious. Just always take the lead. No pre-brief needed. Just putty in your hands. Thank you for posting this and not pointing it directly at the girls. As you can tell, it happens to the best of us.

From what I have read- you sound smooth and not needy. My comment was about ymrhawk claiming that standing-someone-up is just what people do when they are not interested. That is what flaky chicks and a-hole alphas do. My different type of alpha comment was more from life experience and not listed on any sidebar I know of. A-hole Alpha- Needs to establish dominance in all the wrong ways. Standing her up, making fun of her in front of his friends etc. I know you have known that guy and look at al…

Maybe so but what kind of alpha do you want to be? It's all about 1) respect and 2) class. I notice when guys "respect" indicating they have "class."

I have to disagree. Decent, mature adults would not have made the plans or at least come up with a half acceptable excuse before you have someone go out of their way to meet you. Who you are is not about what other people think about you but how you treat other human beings.

I actually agree with 99% of this. The corny moan etc is very cosmo and was because he asked for other ideas about how to show her he is attracted without too much kino. My initial comment suggested a lustful gaze or something equally cheesy. I may have told him exactly what he wanted to hear and wished him luck but I also stated it would be a temporary fix if it worked at all. I also mentioned I hoped she was worthy of this kind of attention which I have my own doubts about. I have never told a…

You posting here shows your commitment and how much you care. I truly hope you can work through this. I also hope this is a lady that can appreciate your commitment and that she is receiving help for whatever she went through in her past. If not, I am afraid all your work maybe for nothing. Again, not speaking for all women but knowing a guy wants to sleep with you usually makes us feel good. But the complication is for you to show us that while also making us want you. The latter is where I see most men trip up.

I think it's a "victim chick." A female who has been abused and now has physical/emotional scars beyond the relationship baggage most people carry with them.

You've already had a ton of cuddling and some weekends away? She knows you are a friend and you have built every type of intimacy besides physical? This may sound crazy but capitalize the trust and jump in with a different persona. You have been nice and respectful but step back and become a single-minded seducer that she will not recognize. Surprise her. I would start with stepping back from contact. Let her come to you as often as possible. If she notices (hopefully she will) give her a confid…

I believe that a woman's biggest erogenous zone is her brain. From what I've read it sounds like you have been respectfully giving her space and time to grow into the physical part of the relationship. I cannot speak for every single woman but in general we need to feel desired. Is it possible you have given her too much space in this one area? I can see how this maybe tricky with a VC but there are many ways to let a girl know you want her without pushing physically. A good example is a long lu…

Thank you for your service. Sincerely. What you had to go through is not fair and not right. Yeast infections are a bitch but they need to come up with another system. As for the toilet seat. . .I say the whole lid being down just to keep the dogs from drinking it. I don't know how I would feel if they hadn't made that decision for me. I don't think it has a correct answer.

Possibly because it was the term I learned first. Maybe because it was one of the first recognizable causes I was introduced to. I could be wrong but it seems mensrights is a relatively new movement to get some attention. It it is not because I hold the rights of women above that of men. I am a woman and I naturally have a bias because I have only 1 point of view and can only imagine what it is like to deal with the issues men deal with. I talk to men to get feedback on my views and read media l…

Again, I do not have a leader, I have a belief system. I faceplam when I see women who call themselves feminists simply bash men. For lack of a better analogy, I feel as if being asked to change a word I use to define myself is not so different from Muslims being asked to change what they call themselves because some people cannot differentiate between Muslim and terrorist because the terrorists gave Muslims a bad name.
/r/MensRights18/05/11 03:03 PM

Maybe. I don't know. I do believe there is a real, valid issue with men being heard and part of it comes from the automatic belief that men have it easier no matter what the issue is. Or sometimes a sense of men "owing" women. That belief system is bias and wrong and has made it challenging for situations where men are not seeing equality to be addressed. I read mensrights regularly and there are some issues I disagree with but over all there are some great points that I do not think are coming …

I do not have a leader and my definition of a feminist is the same as what can be found in the dictionary- equal rights for women. No better. No worse. Equal. The good with the bad. I am just trying to point out to you that your first sentence is wrong because I think you are pushing people away that are for your cause. There are women who call themselves feminists that by the given definition are clearly not. Most of the feminists I know agree with me. We are not changing a word we use to descr…

There are feminists as well as mensrights activists that are giving their cause a bad name. Not all feminists match your idea of what a feminist is just like not all mensrights activists think all women are whiners who are just out to keep men down.I read mensrights because being aware of gender inequality is important to me as a feminist. Your cause is my own. Feminist bashing and generalizing may not be the best way to promote your cause.

I am a feminist and I support the pension age being the same for men as for women as well as women having to register for the draft. I also think false rape claims are real problem that has destroyed many lives. I support your cause and call myself a feminist in the name of gender equality. Please stop generalizing what feminists are and what they believe.

more of a chance to act responsibly Rape is not irresponsible. Not doing your homework is irresponsible. Rape is a whole other level of bad. Rape can be in the moment I really hope you mean rapists are opportunistic. I have reread this conversation and you can keep on thinking I make things up but hopefully one day you will hear and rethink what you wrote.

That my dear, is a fetish. I believe there are many like her but lucky for the rest of us they are not in the majority. I think he handled that well. His point, with sarcasm, hurting many women just in case they might enjoy it is idiotic.

Then one must in that case say that you only want to Kline and enjoy. You have to tell him you are only making-out/jerking him off for fun and sex is off the table? And that will stop all sexual assaults. Not buying it. There is a difference between being an idiot and putting yourself in a bad situation and violating that idiot that put themselves in that situation. Both people made bad decisions but to say that the first makes the other okay or less bad is blaming the victim. I bold for emphasi…

I read the article you refer to and this is a quote from the "sex expert." I understand that boys sometimes gets confused. It is often very difficult to perceive women's signal, and it is often not easy to understand that girls do not want to have sex. Let me clear this up from you- when she says no and/or stop. She also infers that women should make it clear from the get-go if they do not want to have sex with a man. If I have to start announcing to men when I first meet them that I am not inte…

I'm so glad you said you are enjoying this! Me too :) I skimmed through the article you posted and I intend to go through it throughly as it deserves when I have more time. The 'self-correcting mechanism' I was referring to is driven by peer review and new contradicting evidence. Culture will shape research but having more women to peer review and change how research is preformed is, in my opinion, self-correcting. 50 or even 20 years ago this would not be the case. As for women being wired diff…

I cannot disagree about society shaping and being shaped by research but science has a self-correcting mechanism. When something is misunderstood because societal norms are related to something far more complex, it can be refuted. The most brilliant behavioral researchers have not been bound by social norms. And some of the best ideas blew everyone away. Look at Robert Trivers explanation for altruism and Sarah Hrdy's explanation for infanticide. Society tried to limit the brilliance of Temple G…

I see that you have taken offense to this. Maybe it would be helpful to try and approach it as what it intends to be, science. There is no purpose except to define a concept and then try and show how this concept came to be. To legitimize something is to make is acceptable and inline with a set of principles and ideals. Science does not and should not tell us what is acceptable. That is the job of ethics. Science simply attempts to explain why something occurs. We must approach human behavior as…

First- that was hot. Second- you cannot really be a male and know so much about us. (Not a challenge, just a concern.) Third- if you are a man, that is scary. Get the fuck out of my head.

From a females POV this approach to interactions comes across as assertive. You take chances and that's hot. Glad you figured it out. Don't forget to start giving a fuck if you meet a nice girl or you will eventually be a whole new kinda forever alone. The wrinkly kind.
