The only group-wide belief I'm aware of is a requirement that members believe in "a supreme being". That can be the Abrahamic God, Hindu deities, it's up to you. My understanding is that it's actually discouraged to discuss religion at masonic functions in an effort to make all members feel welcome. Make all members feel welcome, as long as they believe in some sort of god though.

Well, I do imagine it's men committing the vast majority of those murders, so that would by why it's seen as more of an issue for the female victims. Typically a man killing a woman is a lot different than killing another man(as in why they did it). There's also the ridiculous amount of rape that seems to happen over there against women.
