| 1 | How do you respond when someone pulls that "circumcision reduces HIV" card? They often cite that study in Africa. Do we know details about that study? Was it peer reviewed and repeated? Do they have an anatomical/physiological theory to back up their claim?Oh yes, no doubt about it. But I hope you see, that only because the infant doesn't remember anything later, that doesn't mean he is not in terrible agony at the time. I would not want to subject any sentient being to this kind of horror if it isn't absolutely, unavoidably required. Which religious, cultural and traditional circumcisions aren't. | /r/MensRights | 07/07/12 06:09 PM |

Do they have an anatomical/physiological theory to back up their claim?the 'pain' of circumcision is not part of the procedure, or the reason for doing it. At best, it's a by-product. Ergo, circumcision != torture. You know very well about the pain and still do the procedure. That's the same in my book. A medically unnecessary procedure that causes insane amounts of pain for basically just your own pleasure. further, you don't know if it's insane amounts of pain or not, or that it lasts weeks. Totally subjective (but handy for the emotional, non-rational side of th… | /r/MensRights | 07/07/12 12:54 PM |

Something he certainly does not want to happen to him at that time. | /r/MensRights | 07/07/12 12:36 PM |

If that doesn't fit the definition, I don't know what does, sorry. | /r/MensRights | 07/07/12 12:29 PM |

If a child is born with a malformed (or extra) limb, you as the parent/consenting adult legally approve its removal. Less extreme, if children are born with webbed digits (fingers/toes), you as the parent/consenting adult legally approve (or prevent) the corrective surgery. Absolutely correct, and rightly so! But as long as there is no immediate medical need to circumcise, a parent should simply not be allowed to undertake the procedure. At all. Do they have an anatomical/physiological theory to back up their claim? You are not allowed to cut off any other part of the body of your child, why do you think you should be allowed to cut off a large chunk from your kids genitals? Dental work is done due to medical conditions, not because of silly superstitions. And vaccines do not mutilate your childs body. They are perfectly healthy and generally a very good thing. Circumcision OTOH is barbaric and serves no purpose to a toddler at all. | /r/MensRights | 07/07/12 12:02 PM |

Do they have an anatomical/physiological theory to back up their claim? That is indeed true. But we must not forget that there are countries and regions on earth today, where there is little to no access to condoms. While I strictly reject the idea of MGM, I do believe that in these cases, this barbaric act might actually be of benefit to the victim. | /r/MensRights | 07/07/12 10:32 AM |

When the boy is old enough to be sexually active, he can decide for himself. Or use a god damn condom. | /r/MensRights | 07/07/12 10:28 AM |
