GF could have been a decent person and told OP that they where breaking up before stepping into the club instead of trying to cheat on him to invoke those cheating feelings which feel stronger for a female since her hamster will tell her she is doing something wrong. I may have lost some people but that's to be expected. Someone further up laid out an excellent point try and visualize how polite they are acting towards you and here is where experience plays a big role. Are they giving you business causal, just casual small talk, or flirting with you, or just trying to mind their own business. You have to be the judge of that and match their level etc and move forward.

Ty ty. I just noticed a lot of posts about cold approaching and most seem to be hitting some nails on the head and missing the point entirely in other regards. Will admittedly not my highest moment in life like I said wouldn't change a thing about it. She brought the fight too me. Started calling me names, shouting in my face and overall disrupting the peace. I was just telling my mom happy Mother's Day. Trust me when I say I tried to calm the situation down multiple times but she was having none of it since I'm a "white cis male scum." I'm usually a very reasonable person.
