The best thing to do is to talk to a lawyer. I would think that you're probably entitled to at least some of the stock and retirement. I was in a similar situation and protecting your rights isn't being selfish. I ended up going to a lawyer and fighting, and because I did, my life is better now than it would have turned out had I not fought.

You can have a clause or two written in your divorce agreement that prohibits harassment at home, work, etc. You could also have another one stating that you're both expected to earn a living. That way if she does do it you can take her to court for violating the agreement. She could also get the subtle hint that these clauses imply and back off if there's clauses specifying penalties for harassment etc. That could also prompt the judge to ask why you want this and then you can show him or her w…

I started out in mediation that failed, but as far as I understand, you'd have to negotiate it with your ex. She has to sign off on it before it could go to a judge.

Don't waste your time and energy. Your animosity towards your ex wife is understandable, however, it's better to take the high road. Make the payments and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that you did your best for your child. If your ex turns your child against you or wants to do so, your dodging out of paying your child support gives her the dagger to stab you in the heart with. Something negative that is verifiable and permanently toxic to your relationship with your kid. Money can be replac…

Eventually the feelings will fade. Try to keep as busy as you can be while the kids are away. Hobbies, maybe try meetup.com to make new friends with common interests. Divorce support groups are helpful if you can find one. It's hard but you'll rebuild your life and discover things about yourself that you didn't know about yourself. Being in this situation is better than being in a relationship with someone who doesn't want you.

I agree, don't worry about destroying her right now. She made the choice to leave the family and you have to stabilize the custody issue to protect your child. Once you have insured your child's living situation, and you have settled the divorce, you can make the effort at supportive Co-parenting.

I was married to my Ex for 24 years. We were together for 29 years. I caught her once, forgave and forgot and got burned again. I think Chris Rock got it right when he said that people are only as honest as what their options are. I won't make that choice ever again. I suppose some people can reform, I just am not granting such mercy to anyone again.

So, you have some homework to do. Some lawyers have free consultations, you have to look around. I'm in NJ and they have formulas for alimony, I would suspect MI would too. Mediation is an option, but I think it only works in an amicable situation. I started out that way but talking about money brings out the worst in people. Initially it's like walking a greased tightrope over a lake of diarrhea. Things went into the lake pretty quickly for me and my Ex. I wouldn't mediate without a lawyer beca…

It can be scary, take the high road and keep cool. Keep your answers short and sweet. Stick to facts. Don't take the bait and get provoked. I had to sit through a three hour deposition in my divorce. It's my understanding that that most cases don't go to trial and that a lot of this stuff is window dressing.

It depends on what state you're in. You should consult with a lawyer or look up divorce laws at a library or at the county court. I'm my county the court has a do it yourself library with people to help you. You asked about financial issues but the emotional ones are important. Divorce is a painful process that can cost you your relationship with your kids at worst. At minimum it will change it. You may not like the results. Obviously, the nature of your relationship with your wife will change b…
