They'll never pursue the antidepressant angle because the pharmaceutical companies have too much influence. Look at how long opiods were allowed to destroy this country. We know these drugs cause suicidal thoughts/actions. My father said when he was in high school (in Alabama) in the 60s, kids drove to school with hunting rifles (loaded) in their trucks. Everyone had a gun! There were no school shootings. There also were no antidepressants back then, either.

Are you talking about Teach for America? They pay for your education and then send you to the worst possible schools. Most of those people QUICKLY burn out and leave teaching. There have been numerous shows/documentaries about people who signed up for TFA and felt like they got duped.

OP is talking about K-12 education where most of the college BS (adjuncts, etc.) does not apply. There are a lot of hoops to jump through to become a K-12 teacher.

Depending on the district, if they have a union, etc. they may end up flaking out of the job. Most teachers leave in the first 3-5 years (of course, most teachers are female) so they either get burned out or angry that it requires more than just playing daycare. We can only hope.
