You need to leave. You've got time to plan though. I'd suggest developing your own gambling problem. Cash just keeps disappearing. When it's a comfortable amount, serve her.

She did you one hell of a favor leaving the kids there and leaving the state. Like the others have said, lawyer immediately.

Them not working seems like we're providing and doing them a great service and being the best husband ever, but it screws us in divorce. With that, kids, and the length of the marriage, I'd say with a great lawyer you'll be lucky to get 50/50 and no alimony and that's a huge stretch. Child support's going to be a given. You're in a tough spot here, sir.

If somebody's trying to be competitive they'll certainly ignore the new guys at USPSA. Safety may just be relative, or the ROs sucked. Anything truly unsafe will get somebody DQ'd.

They want to know all assets and liabilities so they know how long to drag things out. Jog your memory for anything pre-marital and find the proof. Anything off the books or only known to you, keep it that way. Pay the attorney with marital funds. There any way to talk her into being amicable and doing it without lawyers? If so, do it!

Being married we conditioned ourselves to look away and not be interested in others that way. It's the promise. It takes some time to let go of that promise, obligation, and the looks of our previous partners, and start letting natural feelings happen again.

Oof, sounds familiar. Whatever's causing it is something that you likely aren't going to win against. You'll end up sacrificing yourself and going through a lot of pain and in the end it'll still go the same way. Probably time for you to start making plans.

Trust is gone. With what you've described, I'd file ASAP and be prepared with your phone camera rolling at all times in her presence. Sounds like the type to try and accuse you of false allegations. I'd want to get out of there asap and at least get an idea if you can stay with friends/family to do so. Last thing you want is an RA on you for something you didn't do.

If nothing's filed and you've got time, I started squirreling away cash for years and hid it and also gave some to my parents. Things of value also made their way to my parents and others I trusted in that time.

I was much more in love with my second wife than my first. That's what did it. I'd say now, my biggest thing will be to safeguard myself against financial loss, so a Prenup will be mandatory.

Mine did the walk away wife deal. We filed amicably, but also tried to save it for 6 months after she walked out. That 6 months was torture. She'd go all in, then bail. Over and over for 6 months. It just ended. The divorce was finalized about 3 months ago though. She got about 5% of the assets, no kids, no alimony. I'm selling the place now because I can't see anything here without remembering her. Basically doing the 'Tidying up with Marie Kondo' as I go through the house. If I see or pick up …

Write up an uncontested divorce agreement. Get the paperwork for a no-fault divorce from your county or look them up and print them off youself. Fill it all out. Take the agreement and the paperwork to a notary, make copies, then go to the county and file the paperwork. There's usually a fee of a few hundred dollars. Keep in mind TX is a community property state. I'm not sure if the courts there will force that or not if there's an agreement between you two. The hardest part of these is you gott…

I mean, now's the time to do it since you're not making much. If she's threatening you with it she's going to do it eventually. Do it now while it'll be cheaper.

Tried getting on Tiktok and watching the 'counselors' on there? They can be pretty motivating with how to deal with all these emotions and move on, especially the 'no contact' deal. There's also a sub for that /exnocontact

I've heard something like 85% of affairs are with colleagues. You've got the rip the Band-aid off. Then you need to get in shape, start eating right. You may be getting low T and such that was/is hurting your mood and performance. Drop the soy out of your life. Eat meat, vegetables, start lifting. Become friends with sauerkraut (removes excess estrogen, gets the gut flora in check). Try to make the divorce amicable as possible.

Seems like something that'd show up in LexisNexis. Probably better asked in /legaladvise. The regular online places to look things up are not going to be reliable since we can all send requests to have ourselves removed from those services.

Time for counseling, sir. That stuff from childhood's hurting you more than you realize. To trust and love again means to be vulnerable, but that doesn't mean to be vulnerable to financial ruin either. If you can get through the emotional part and it ever progresses enough you're ready for commitment, just protect yourself legally. It takes away the incentive for them to pull shit and leave, and if they do, at least you'll leave mostly whole financially.
/r/Divorce_Men20/06/24 02:23 PM

It makes me wonder if it's safer/better to just do a 'spiritual' wedding. No legal, keeps people from getting complacent in the relationship, less risk to the man. That or really strong prenups.

Wow. I'm not at that point yet, but I had written that one off. If/when I get to the app stage I'll have to give it a trial I guess.
/r/Divorce_Men20/06/24 02:18 PM

Once cheating's involved things are done. She is the one that's moved on and forgot about you. She had to because you cheated. Even if you could go back with her it's not going to ever be right again. You learned your lesson, take that lesson with you to the next lady. Starting working on the goal of finding somebody else and being the best you that you can be for them, and maybe don't get legally married again.

Those bitter and divorced ones are obviously poisoning the well - Schadenfreude. The best i can do is prepare by staying true to who i am and who i want to be. Bingo, sir. Doing that will make you higher value and reel her back in. Best of luck!

Try for marriage counseling, preferably a faith-based one that's an advocate for marriage. You need to consider what you've said, not much has changed. While you've been preparing, so has she. Don't be surprised if she's working on the Walk Away Wife plan right now - In fact, I'd say expect that. The internet and her friends/family are going to be in her ear/eyes and coaching her to do it oftentimes - that phenomenon is a scourge these days. Pay attention to her phone behaviors. Is she always ke…

Other than the kids, doesn't sound like a lot of risk just going to the courthouse and grabbing the paperwork and filing it yourself since not a lot of assets. Might be worth a trip or just look up your state's papers and fill them out yourself, then you won't have to drop 10K on a lawyer and can just pay your lease up front.

Oh yeah, and you need to stick with not drinking. It drives up our anxiety, depression, paranoia (WHAT'S SHE DOING RIGHT NOW?!) anger and more. Alcohol depletes GABA and that's a chemical that regulates those emotions in our brains. Finding out that scientific reason was what got me to ditch the hooch. I'm terrified right now to even take a drop, and that's coming from drinking 1/2-1 bottle a day. Cold turkey. I can't handle the emotional effects. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC165…

I'm literally sitting here drinking coffee before I go to church in my <600 population town. Before this, I hadn't gone in years. Finding the right one, led by strong men, is paramount. Another aspect to consider is that it could be where you meet your next lady. The ones that go there are going to be more aligned to what we're after, and the ratio of single women to men at the church is highly in the man's favor. Do any sort of search online for Christian women trying to find Christian men (or …

Thing is, she's insecure as fuck. Those men she's going to attract? Yeah, they're just going to use her - we're guys, we know how guys are. She's trying to create that hot single mom trap, and she's not going to get another guy that cares for her like you did doing what she's doing. She's just going to let herself get used for the dopamine as long as she can, then find out in the end the sands of time depleted her value to the point she has zero ability to regain what she had with you. Meanwhile…

Behaviors are learned, especially in our childhoods. The chickens of decades of single-parent homes, social media, feminism, and male-bashing - are coming home to roost. We also need to really evaluate ourselves. May want to look up what a codependent is and see if you think you are one. If so, they're drawn in by narcissists. Kind of sounds like may be what your situation was. Once you know that you'll know what to watch out for, and hopefully filter those women out, and then you can try to all…

Even just having that scheduled thing to do on Sunday morning, or whenever your religion meets, goes a long way towards giving you something to look forward to. You gotta get out of the house and get your mind right. Try to come up with a list of things to do when you're home and your brain's trying to kill you. Some workouts, video games - something. You have to go through the mental healing process, but we can't let it destroy us. Look for the online support groups, they could be a good at-hom…

Stop ruminating. Work on you. Burn the energy off. We create neural pathways with our bad thoughts and keep going down them. You have to break the pattern. Start working on you. Start thinking about how awesome it'll be when you meet that next one and how great it'll feel, and how you have new lessons you learned from the ex.

I wasn't religious. Had a church that seemed okay we went to a few times. Reconnected there. Turns out it's great. Building a route of things to do helps keep you from ruminating. Down time's the worst. You can't ruminate. A lot of support groups online. Hell, even AA. There's probably one on right now you could drop into.
