I’m not saying your fiance is abusive but the blaming you for things that aren’t your fault and then criticizing you no matter what you do are both major red flags. Consider reading the book why does he do that by Lundy Bancroft. A free pdf is available online you just have to google it. It’ll only help you to check it out and decide for yourself if your fiancés behavior is less than you deserve.

No shit. Afghanistan shortly after 9/11! Kinda feels like the same war a few decades apart. My dad served in Vietnam too. Much respect. But im a woman so apparently not a real soldier according to others on here but it is what it is. Thank you for your service friend and you are welcome to think whatever you want as a vet in my book no matter how offensive it might seem.

They didn’t say anything about lynching anyone or Amy shumer and even if they did, it’s still weird and backwards as hell to refer to anyone as “your kind” unless you’re an uneducated hillbilly then I suppose your comment makes sense. Are you also still upset about losing the civil war and slavery being abolished? Those damn northerners. I can’t stand “their kind”. Almost as bad as those damn feminists. They wanna lynch us all! Yea you’re 100% a paranoid nut job. Nobody wants to lynch you bro. N…

No it’s true especially if you are an evil feminist. We have a secret ceremony that takes place after our equally secret monthly meeting with world leaders - to make sure they stay in their lane and carry out our secret agenda. Shh don’t tell anyone but during this secret ceremony we actually drink the blood of all the men who have sworn off sex due to their inability to cope with rejection in a healthy way and it keeps the critters away. This applies to lice and incels. It’s win/win! Let me kno…

Being that this sub has become an extremist misogynistic hate group that consists of a lot of men who scurried over (like cockroaches) when their incel go your own way group got shut down for being a hate group, I wouldn’t take the downvotes to personally. This sub is gonna get banned too eventually and then they’ll all have to find some other sad dark corner of the internet to complain in. Lol
/r/MensRights27/10/21 07:17 PM

Agreed. I can’t help but imagine all the men here saying women can’t be real soldiers probably couldn’t run a mile under ten minutes or do a pull up. Easy to sit at home with your beer gut and laptop open typing about how physically inferior women as a whole are to men. If your life is that sad that’s what you gotta do to feel good about yourself, I pitty these dudes. Women who serve are too good for their hateraid and deserve our respect and gratitude as do all who serve.

Okie dokie sounds good. By that logic we definitely shouldn’t be even considering extending the draft to include women then unless we want to just lose every war and that doesn’t seem very cost effective. Or are you suggesting we draft women but only place them in non front line positions only since they are not capable of being “real soldiers”? Curious…By that logic are all the engineers, mechanics, medical staff etc. and non frontline military service men and women not “real soldiers” or does …

I’m sure the families of female soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice might disagree. It’s sad to see such a lack of support for our armed forces but hey if you want only men in the military because women aren’t real soldiers I won’t argue with you on that one but then don’t complain about the draft being a feminist conspiracy against men or any of that nonsesense.

This is exactly it. I didn’t know an entire movement existed that was solely anti feminism. Referring to me as “your kind” feels a bit dehumanizing. I would appreciate it if you didn’t lump me into some category of people to despise and hate. I’m a human being just like you. If you wanna carry a gun around, go for it. I never suggested you shouldn’t and have nothing against it especially if it makes you feel safe and you behave responsibly and of course, it’s legal which I assume it is in this case. Let me get this straight. You think that the women were responsible and totally in control of their actions and not at all victims in any way of Charlie Manson and his cult. But “the establishment” got together and decided those women needed to be portrayed as victims in order for them to have more women enter the workforce to drive down wages? So the women who followed Charlie Manson are responsible for low wages? Dayum the establishment really don’t wanna pay us! How exactly does having women …

The twisting of the comments on this sub declaring that the comment posters think a man or men is/are responsible for what this women did is in itself anti-woman and is being done to generate hate towards women in this sub and blame society for supporting female murders when they don’t support male ones. I disagree. This is not what this poster thinks. She clearly stated that in her comment and in her comments in this thread even. Could have is not probably. More importantly, I’m not sure we’re going to get anywhere on this so agree to disagree. I said what I wanted to say. Thanks.
/r/MensRights16/10/21 06:36 PM

So probably doesn’t apply because the commenter isn’t saying she probably killed herself and her kids due to abuse. she is saying what I wrote above and what’s in the comment itself. Nowhere is there anything close to she probably did it because of abuse.

Hey I support you and you make complete sense. It’s being completely taken out of context and twisted to fit some crazy anti-women narrative.
/r/MensRights16/10/21 05:24 PM

The commenter says several times outright that she is not saying that domestic abuse applies to this case. She also outright states that she is not defending this woman or her actions. She writes of a situation someone else completely different went through which was a terribly abusive partnership and drove the victim to feel they had no options. She is not saying that that is what happened to the women in in the story. She is not saying the women in the story was a dv victim.

I said it because a lot of gender focused groups turn into hate groups. I’m sure a lot of people here see feminist groups that way and that’s fine everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don’t wish to be a part of that and I am vocal when I see hate in all its manifestations. I think if people don’t speak up in the face of hate it just festers and grows and can be very dangerous. The basis to state that are the many comments here where folks have said exactly that. It is not my desire. This is just what you have to tell yourself to justify being a very nasty person. People in this sub just love to tell women they deserve to be treated poorly by men. You see it over and over again in almost every post’s comment. This is not an acceptable way to speak to anyone and is a classic technique used by abusers - both men and women to make the target think they deserve the abuse they receive so the abuser can continue exerting control. I was gonna write back with an actual point but this isn’t going anywhere. I’m not going to argue with you over whether I’m smug or not. That doesn’t sound like a positive use of either of our time. Take what I say how you will. I spoke my peace in the comment before this one to you. Take what’s useful and ignore the rest and if that’s all of it that’s fine. This honestly makes no sense. I’m responding to a comment using the same gender pronouns they used. Please don’t blame me for turning anything into a gendered issue on a men’s rights page. So many on here want me to hate men so they can justify being nasty to me. I don’t hate any one.

I can accept your first paragraph as totally logically even if I don’t share the same exact sentiment. I know a lot of people feel that way and maybe I’m in the minority. To your last point I think it’s crazy that someone would respond like that to a victim sharing their story the gender of the rapist is irrelevant. Rape is rape. That being said, I do hope when women share their stories you sympathize and don’t make it about men or as a personal attack on your gender as a whole, just as you want…

And of course I’d be sympathetic to male victims of rape and abuse because as I’ve said a bajillion times( not meant to be rude) abuse is about power and control and all genders can be victims and nobody deserves that. I’m not a monster even though a lot of people here would like to think I am.

This logic I can get behind. I appreciate you breaking it down. In response, I would argue that stooping down to someone’s level by meeting nastiness with nastiness isn’t going to benefit anyone. Also kindness isn’t always met with kindness. When you decide to hate people because you don’t feel they’re being kind to you that can be a very dangerous and slippery slope as well! Edit: using the proverbial you here I’m not implying that you hate anyone. Maybe you do maybe you don’t but I have no ide…

I’m not hurling insults or trying to make anyone here feel like shit. I have absolutely nothing against men despite many folks here thinking I have some kind of secret evil feminist agenda. I think a lot of people here are quick to defend themselves when someone disagrees versus viewing things from a different perspective and then forming a respectful response. If people hate me for my opinions and experiences in life that’s unfortunate but their prerogative. Personally I wouldn’t have any hate …

If the dynamic in the relationship is one where the women is abusing the man by seeking to control him through different forms of abuse and the man strikes back he is still the victim of abuse and she is still the abuser. Does that help? It’s not about men are always bad or women are evil. It’s about power and control and the toxic ways that impacts relationships.
/r/MensRights14/10/21 09:04 PM
1

Abuse is about power and control. That is my whole point in its simplest form. What you just wrote supports that in a lot of ways so it seems we actually agree more so than you might want to believe. Take out the gender pronouns and I agree with a lot of what you’ve written here.
/r/MensRights14/10/21 09:02 PM

There’s a lot of mental gymnastics going on here. The proverbial you means I’m not making that assumption about you personally. I don’t even know you. You might be a great person or a total piece of shit. I was just trying to answer your question of what women can do to earn your respect which again is nothing if someone doesn’t want to respect you then they don’t want to respect you. If you don’t respect me that’s fine. If I feel threatened as a result then I’ll remove myself. That’s all you ca…
/r/MensRights14/10/21 08:59 PM

All women need to earn your respect? Damn that’s rough. But to answer your questions, I guess nothing, if you really don’t wanna respect women then you really don’t wanna respect women and that’s your personal choice. I guess it just put the onus on the women in your life to pick up on that and avoid a situation that’s not good for them. Using the proverbial you here so I hope you don’t take this personally although I have a feeling you will.

To each their own but I still still stand behind my point of view that abuse is at its root an issue of power and control, and I don’t wish an ill will upon you or any of the other men here.
/r/MensRights14/10/21 08:26 PM

I stand behind the points I have made about abuse being something that can happen to either gender and that it is a symptom of toxic relationships where one partner is seeking control over the other. Men and women both do this and I believe nobody should do this. If you agree with me then you agree and that’s great but again this conversation is not about debating the Duluth model. If you feel I’m synonymous with this model that’s wrong. I’m an individual with my own insights and knowledge which…

Oh sorry to have missed that. You’re right you did clearly state it. You really shouldn’t use quotes unless your word for word quoting the literature because that can be misleading. I don’t want to debate the Duluth with you I am seeking to express that the dynamic of power and control is nuanced and complex and abuse can go either way. If you disagree with that that’s one thing but again I don’t want to debate Duluth with you.

I’m not quoting anyone lol I’m speaking what I know to be true from my own experiences in the field. You are projecting your hate of Duluth on to me, a complete stranger on the internet, who has valid opinions on the dynamics of domestic abuse which are drawn from experience. I keep my opinions gender nuetral because that’s what they are. You’re just angry because it would be a lot easier for you to berate me if I did believe men were bad and women were good but unfortunately for you, that’s jus…

You really hate Duluth. I’m just speaking my truth. Take from it what you like. Duluth aside from a moment I’m curious what pieces of what I’m saying you actually disagree with because so far all you’ve talked about is how terrible the Duluth model is but not actually acknowledged any of the points i have made.

Who deserves abuse then?
/r/MensRights14/10/21 06:17 PM

I will absolutely look into that but I have to respectfully disagree. I think in domestic abuse there is an aggressor and a victim and it can be either gender that fills either of those roles. Even if both sides do nasty things to one another, there is still one who is doing so to exert control over the other and one who is reacting to it. That doesn’t mean it’s right but it is what it is.
/r/MensRights14/10/21 06:16 PM

Like I said if you find what I said useful great but if not that’s fine too. I don’t know what this feels before facts things is about. We’re having a conversation about domestic violence so yes I’m going to refer to my experiences in the field working with survivors of both genders, including men. As I understand it there are male survivors of dv and rape on this sub so I would be careful about assuming their experiences are feels not facts or however you so eloquently put it.

I’m sorry but I have no idea what you’re talking about with this men bad women good thing. I’ve been preaching the exact opposite in every comment I’ve made and by ignoring that you’re not engaging in a real truthful dialogue with me about how people should be treated. I’ll say it again, No gender is inherently bad or good. People are complex. Abusers are complex as are victims. My main point is no one should abuse another person. I’m surprised so many here don’t agree with that. No one should e…

I’m telling you what I know to be true through my experiences and work with other survivors of all genders, Duluth model aside. If you find what I’ve said useful great but if not that’s fine too. You are entitled to your own opinion.

I think abusers are abusers and victims are victims regardless of gender. I think men can be victims and women aggressors and the other way around. I think it benefits men and women to understand dynamics of power and control because either one can become a victim of it. There are men here who have been abused. I wonder if they see themselves as abusers for fighting back or if they see themselves as victims/survivors of toxic relationships and a partner who sought to control them. Domestic viole…
/r/MensRights14/10/21 05:54 PM

So I’d ask in this situation who is seeking to exert control over the other ones life and using abuse to get their way, and who is fighting against that? What is each party gaining or losing as a result of the abuse? These will help uncover who the victim is and who the perpetrator is regardless of gender.

I guess what it comes down to then are the details of this specific situation. What was this person doing to ensure women feel comfortable that made them feel so degraded? If they were stripping off all their clothes because she demanded it than that’s not appropriate and feelings of being degraded would be valid. If he was letting her voice her opinion without being…

Except I wasn’t? I used respect as a synonym for making someone feel comfortable which is a totally acceptable thing as showing respect is making someone feel comfortable. That’s not a lie and you know it. If you disagree that’s one thing but it’s very obvious your calling me a liar to gaslight me and to dis credit me right now. It’s not going to work so let’s just agree to disagree and call it a day.

All of them. Women are mostly likely to be murdered by their domestic partners or ex partners. If men commit to not being aggressive towards women vocally and/or physically, we might just see that change.

But this poster isn’t talking about hearing this comments from the feminists your quoting. He’s talking about hearing it from every day people who claim to be feminist. I don’t believe that to be true or accurate. I’ve traveled the United States and the world and never met a feminist that would victim blame. Maybe I just surround myself with the good ones. Maybe just take out the word “real” from my comment and just leave it as feminists? Is that less triggering? Do you get at all what I’m sayin…

You comment implies that this poster is saying everyone deserves respect accept women because it fees degrading to create comfortable spaces for them just because they have a vagina. They said that in their comment: “ I admit I have no problem making them feel comfortable. But it feels degrading…” and your comment sounds pretty spot on as well. If it feels degrading to treat someone with respect that’s a problem.

I guess a counter example might be the Violence against women act which funds dv hotlines and organizations, all of which have seen an uptick during covid, as well as workplace harassment laws. I’m sorry but I’m getting really mixed up about what we’re debating. I haven’t lied about anything. You are lying right now by saying it’s about pointing out my behavior as if I’ve done something terribly wrong and offensive. I’m expressing my opinion and behaving completely appropriately. You don’t like what I have to say so your response is to go after my character. That says more about you than me.

I respectfully disagree
/r/MensRights14/10/21 02:45 PM

Sorry you feel I’m dishonest. I clarified my post above. Happy to discuss in good faith just simply saying if you throw personal insults at me, ill stop responding. I’m comfortable with that working both ways as I have no interest in personally attacking you either.

Okay I’ll jump in but if you resort to personal or hostile attacks, I will stop responding. I don’t really know what you want me to say though I’ve already expressed my view point throughout this sub. I read the angry rant fully. I don’t really know what you want me to say about it.

Well if you think so very little of me guess there’s no point in discussing this matter further. Good luck on your quest for men’s rights.
/r/MensRights14/10/21 02:26 PM

Okay well sorry to have offended you. Guess by your standards I’m an uneducated unempthetic person so there’s no point in discussing the matter further with someone who thinks so little of me and my opinions.

Oh gaslighting at its finest. If you attack me personally instead of focusing on the issues we’re discussing, I will stop responding. Uzy wrote that it makes them feel degraded to make women feel more comfortable. If it makes you feel more comfortable I’m happy to reword my questions for you, “You feel degraded when you help women feel more comfortable? Sounds like you’re doing it wrong.”
/r/MensRights14/10/21 02:21 PM

I’m not sure they are asking for male escorts and I would argue there are many ways to make people safer even in the first world. For example. As a man you can do your part just by very simply and easily not being aggressive towards women, respecting their boundaries , independence and their autonomy and right to opportunities that advance their own lives. And you can call it out when you see other men not doing that same.
/r/MensRights14/10/21 02:16 PM

Please I’m curious to learn more about your perspective. I’m simply sharing mine. Do you not believe that at its root domestic abuse is about power and control? What have I said here that is wrong in your eyes?
/r/MensRights14/10/21 02:08 PM

I’m going to exert a healthy boundary and stop discussing this with you as you are now personally attacking me by calling me “short sighted” versus having a healthy discussion about important issues. Best of luck. I have no Ill will towards you.
/r/MensRights14/10/21 02:04 PM

Oh then no that’s absolutely not what I believe. I believe victims can be and are men, women and everything in between and that regardless of gender, escaping a toxic partnership or bad situation as you put it can be dangerous and complex regardless of the victims gender.

You’ve literally just shared an angry rant with me about how evil feminist are. I don’t really know what you want me to do with that. There’s tons of information out there on what feminism is. It’s a movement and people are going to have different views but I can assure you that at its core it does not victim blame and like I said for men who have been raped or abused, I’m sorry for what you have been forced to endure but feminism is not the enemy and there are healthy ways to work through that …

I appreciate you sharing this information with me as I’d never heard of this professor koss. I wonder how popular she is among feminist. The first thing I notice is this information is from 1993. That’s almost three decades old and might not be relevant today as academic and social sciences evolve. Let me dive in and I can give you my informed thoughts once I’ve read these resources you’ve shared.

I’m honestly not sure what you mean here. Would you explain a little more so I can properly respond?
/r/MensRights14/10/21 01:35 PM

Domestic violence is a pattern of power and control. One partner feeling entitled to having their needs meet at the expense of the other. You will know who the abuser and who victim is when you look at the situation through this lease and you will realize “instigating” or “reciprocal” abuse is either, self defense/ reactive abuse, wanting to get through the blow up part of the cycle in order to relieve the tension building or simply an attempt by the abuser to share or escape blame and place it …
/r/MensRights14/10/21 01:31 PM

Like I said no real feminist feels these sentiments described above so no most or many isn’t true either.
/r/MensRights14/10/21 01:11 PM

That’s not for you to decide. Your language is abusive. You were raped right? I’m very sorry you had to go through that. You should know that People who are abused can often grow into abusers themselves. You can read up on this and educate yourself and find healthy ways to heal from your trauma that don’t include putting others down. Also just because you don’t want to give people your sympathy doesn’t mean you have to give them hate.

How about in the age of equality nobody goes one on one with anyone because everyone is safe and respected and free of control in their relationships and professional life’s so even when disagreements arise they are handled maturely and with compassion?

/r/MensRights14/10/21 12:53 PM

Just here to say no feminist would respond this way. In fact no educated compassionate empathetic person would respond this way. Women have been blamed for the violence against them since the beginning of time so in most cases believe claims of abuse and take them very seriously. Sorry if you had a bad experience with someone who said this to you but I think it’s wrong to generalize that all feminist think this way and you’re just going to get angry and frustrated over something that isn’t even …
/r/MensRights14/10/21 12:52 PM
-18

I think the concern is more about systematic and domestic patterns of power and control that keep one group or person on top having their needs met at the expense of the other. It infuriates you that women don’t want to be punched in the face because you think they’re okay with it happening to a skinny guy? What kind of logic is that?
/r/MensRights14/10/21 12:48 PM
-7

Are you suggesting men should “go out of their way” to make men feel safe but not women? Why not create a world where everyone feels safe and free and has access to pursue opportunities without oppression? In order to do that though men need to stop hurting women and maybe just stop hurting people in general. I find it strange that so many individuals on this sub seem to feel so threatened and insulted when women speak up about the way their rights are violated. Holding abusers accountable helps…

Are you god? It’s not your place to punish those you disagree with until they behave in a way you deem acceptable. Speak your truth and go on your way. Give them a taste of their own medicine is 100% abusive behavior.

I don’t think anyone deserves to be abused or go through domestic violence especially by someone who claims to love them. It’s very disturbing to hear you say someone deserves to go through domestic violence because you don’t like the way they spoke to you on Reddit. I can only imagine how you treat people in real life who cross you or disagree with your point of view. I hope you can find peace without hurting others.
