Maybe try flipping the script a bit, but once you start talking maybe give some leeway for him to also approach you to gage his interest. Theres the usual stuff like taking care of yourself, but I think girls underestimate how hot it is to have the confidence to approach someone. I'd suspect its similar for gay men/women.
