Everyone is on their own journey, we can only hope they will eventually be encouraged to self-reflect and level up! Most of us here are reformed PickMe’s so we know it’s possible - doesn’t make it any easier to watch in real time but what can you do (apart from continue to spread the good word of FDS!). Ultimately we can only help ourselves and our sisters who are willing to learn and level up.

I'm looking for someone intellectually stimulating who can hold their own in a conversation without interrupting me or disregarding things I said (this ties into mutual respect and being a good listener). Someone capable of intimacy (emotional and physical/sexual), and what I would broadly describe as "competent" - has skills/hobbies and is capable of planning and executing projects (both big and small). Someone who looks after himself, is kind and open-hearted, can take problems in his stride, …

Got rushed into moving in together after one year. This might be enough time for some people, but it wasn't for me. He kept pushing until I eventually gave way to appease him. Ignored my instincts, moved in, regretted it. Never again.

Thanks for this. Although it can be weirdly vindicating reading about others’ experience of male depravity, lately I have been leaving the FDS sub feeling like there is absolutely no hope finding even halfway decent men!

I haven't got much to add here, as I have only seen online commentaries mocking Tall Girl rather than the movie itself, apart from: 1) this is a stellar critical analysis that genuinely taught me something, 2) thanks for providing context those other online commentaries did not, I now understand how this ridiculous movie got made, and 3) I love your writing style, both articulate and funny - what a combination!

I hope this doesn't sound condescending but I am super proud of the podcast team, putting out killer episodes, getting sponsorship, and hosting incredible guests like Queen Gail Dines and Lundy Bancroft. Keep up the great work <3

Errand dates are acceptable and fun to do with friends, but the fact that he would even entertain doing this on a first date suggests he thinks that spending time getting to know a woman is only worth it if he gets something out of it.

I bought my NVX a bass guitar for his birthday and a Chopper bicycle for Christmas, both exceptional gifts (especially from a poor Uni student). Meanwhile I had to pay for my own birthday lunch because he was penniless and spent any spare cash on weed. He never reimbursed me for the meal like he said he would but at least he did the gentlemanly thing and offered! /s Agree hard with this post. Countless videos on TikTok et al of women gifting their men a PS5 or XBOX or frickin' CAR but when do yo…

You know, I kinda get the point of dry humping with clothes on...like if you are both turned on and making out and rubbing up against each other before getting down to business. But dry humping naked just sounds...clammy and abrasive and profoundly unerotic - even worse if he has a limp dick *barf* I don't blame her at all.

Tbh I believe that, no matter how high-value he is, entering a relationship with a man almost always holds a woman back in some capacity. It may not be conscious, or intentional, it may happen by fractions of degrees at a time, but ultimately a women will end up sacrificing more of herself to a relationship than a man. We can be so competent and brilliant but it's like we lose the time and capacity to believe that about ourselves once a man enters the picture.

Speaking from experience: Never date a man who doesn't drive! You might think it's NBD at first, especially if you both live in a city with good transport links (as I did). Eventually you will realise the burden will fall on you for every single errand, car payment, grocery store trip, long-distance visits to family, transporting stuff when you move house, picking up friends...and you will grow more and more resentful as he snores next to you in the passenger seat and leaves pastry crumbs all ov…

Men are such sociopaths. They can actively court a woman, purse quality time with her, introduce her to family, and whisk her off to weekend getaways, all the while remaining completely emotionally detached and ready to brutally drop her when she starts to express a modicum of emotion.

I understand how easy it is to slip into the mindset of feeling responsible for your partner's feelings, especially when you're a naturally sensitive and empathetic person and your partner is prone to bad moods and arseholery. BUT I cannot emphasise how FREEING it is to disavow yourself of this mindset; instead of curating all your behaviour to placate his moods, tell yourself: "Oh he's in a bad mood about [stupid thing]? He'll get over it". Suddenly their shitty behaviour has much less power ov…

Was that the post about the study of maritime disasters and how men are 2x more likely to survive because they shove women and children out the way to save themselves? It was summed up as there being a cultural myth that men adhere to the "women and children first" rule in life-and-death situations but it is actually more "every man for himself". I already had a low opinion of men but after I read that it sunk all the way to the ocean floor alongside the Titanic.

It may be 3x more frequent (and even that seems a little low) but I bet it's 10x the severity.

The importance of this advice cannot be understated. I can look back at countless times in my life where my gut knew what was up and what was good for me but I just couldn't or wouldn't vocalise it. So I blundered into relationships with men who weren't right for me even though I knew that on day 1. Our intuition is SO powerful if only we can learn to not cut ourselves off from it.

Being judgmental is the point! Making a judgment is a necessary part of being a human, deciding what's right for you and asserting boundaries. It's triply important when we are talking about women's safety.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
