Someone has clearly never worked with the homeless...

That's because at the end of your life, you're gonna be much happier having had an actual intimate relationship with a best friend you can rely on. That is what most men and women want. A life of drama, insecurity, and superficial relationships screams narcissism and arrested development. This is what we see in high school.

You are way too grown-up for this sub.
/r/TheRedPill25/08/16 10:53 PM

I think the point is that those aren't traits "women" have, they are traits "people" have. By categorizing women as being "like that", you're splitting the genders down imaginary lines that don't exist. This is an immature coping mechanism that we grow out of as we proceed through adolescence and realize that almost everything and everyone in life is made of shades of grey.

I'm sure if you look hard enough anywhere you find some exploitation. That obviously wasn't the point of my comment. In Thailand, exploitation is rampant. An estimated 40% of prostitution in that country is underage sexual exploitation. ... That doesn't even cover the number of people who resort to selling their bodies because of the extreme poverty. Sexual tourism has reinforced an awful cycle. I said Thailand is a poor example. It is, and you probably came off as ignorant when you defended it …

Prostitution isn't actually legal in Thailand, and unlike Australia, that county is a really shitty example because extreme poverty, corruption, and sex tourism has led many children--not even young women but children--to sell themselves so their families can eat. If you're gonna give an example, don't be ignorant and use Thailand.

I feel like you don't even try to understand the dynamic between you two. It's just victim diarrhea. Even when I was in a shitty relationship I tried to be critical of myself.

Look, it's clear you have been through a lot; and dysfunctional relationships find a home in the court system (SO is a family lawyer, so I get to hear the stories). The point is that it isn't the norm and it most certainly ISN'T gender-specific. If you are accusing me of being angry for her lies, then you would be on firm ground; I think anger against someone who attempted to ruin your life is warranted. If you're saying I should "get over it", you're blissfully ignorant of what such a thing doe…

Sorry I want to get this straight. Your ex-wife accused you of false rape and/or battery? Given that you're still having thoughts of her dying in a freak accident, I'm sensing there's an anger problem here.

This is how my aunt found out her first husband was cheating on her; their infant died in the first few days of life because he had given her HSV-2 (herpes) and she didn't know.

I've never seen those words used unless they were directed at a specific post that contained disgusting, hateful comments directed toward women, followed by complaints about "hypergamy", "AWALT", and "why won't women sleep with me?" That's not painting "an entire group"... that's reacting to actual people. I really feel like you're taking TBP personally, when it's targeted toward specific assholes. Why?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/16 06:37 AM
2

Care to explain? This sounds more personal than actually related to TBP satire sub.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/16 05:18 AM
6

TBP advocates abuse, practices it on the regular and even goes so far as to talk gleefully about prison rape and death to those in the outgroup. What the fuck? TBP found that in the complaints of low value males. No one on TBP even believes "low value males" are a thing. God.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/16 04:52 AM
3

That is the thing with hatefull ideologies or groups. They allways think that the target of their hate deserves it. Ignoring the typos... What you're saying sound insightful, but really doesn't apply to this situation at all. This isn't bigotry... TRP advocates emotional manipulation and abuse.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/16 02:22 AM
8

Can you not see the difference between TBP (criticizing people who openly hate on an entire gender), and TRP (advocating rape, cheating, abuse and manipulation toward females, teaching bitter men that their value is only tied to their weight, vagina, submissiveness, or that their feelings are to be ignored... Etc)?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/16 10:52 PM

So, younger is my guess.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/16 07:08 AM

Whatever hatred they project onto women or society is just a manifestation of that self-hatred. There is some truth to this, but when I read the rest of the comment, it sounds like victimization. At some point, we all have to grow up and out of our fantasies. Life gets better when you stop grouping people so much.

I see. I post a resource and you tell me to "shove it up my ass". I explain why I am more comfortable with evidence collected from multiple sources, and majority of studies that put the number between 5-10%, and you call me "bitter and irrational". This is one of those complex, probably impossible subjects to put a hard number to, but that doesn't mean we can't estimate. Most evidence shows a much smaller number, and that is usually over-estimating because of the factors I described beforehand. …

I'll keep this simple and avoid personal attacks. One study does not come close to data collected from hundreds of sources. Also, the number quoted was 8%, and it was said to be an over-estimate. Two-percent was there to allow you to compare it other crimes. I do constant research in medical school, and filtering studies by quality is part of the job. Objectively speaking, your post sounds bitter and irrational. If you want to keep ignoring dissenting opinions and live in an echo chamber, your d…

Ya wasn't talking about the wage gap. Wikipedia articles that quote their sources--like those from the FBI--are very reliable. This poster is bullshit. Anyone with some critical thinking skills can see it. It's really sad to ignore the mountains of evidence (most from studies of higher quality) that turn up from a search of Pubmed... just to further your opinion.

So because women are happy to have guys approach them when they show interest or get dolled up, this proves AF/BB? No way. AF is something these guys made up to protect themselves from being hurt by the possibility of being cheated on. It's not just saying that "women are generally attracted to outgoing men", it's about this made up crap that women use men for money and sex.

None of the women I've hung out with. How do you explain the evidence that suggests women are six times more loyal to men who fall sick (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/cncr.24577/abstract). Or the fact that men cheat more than women. Or that "cuckoldry" is, in fact, MUCH less common than people suggest (http://arstechnica.com/science/2016/04/cuckoldry-is-incredibly-rare-among-humans/). Yes but what does that have to do with my statement?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/04/16 07:10 AM

Ignoring the first two points--which are nothing more than statements taken to such an extreme that no one would agree with them--I'm thinking your statement about 30-somethings is dumb. It's not making any point. Most 30 and 40-somethings are more mature than women in their college years. If you think that's not true, then you are dealing with a selection bias (hence the reference to bars). Your arguments strike me as having little substance and more of a "gotcha" attempt.

What do they do? Put up with a shitty relationship? I live with a divorce attorney and work in medicine (medical student). Most divorced individuals I know in my life are divorced due to their partners controlling their lives, abusing them and their children, etc. Divorce is awful,.. I get that, but I'd much rather live in a country that allows divorce. The countries with low divorce rates are rampant with infidelity and physical/emotional abuse.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/04/16 11:47 PM

most guys only care that a girl is cute and nice. This isn't most guys.. this is a group of narcissists that hang out with each other (either on a sub or in a frat house). Most guys grow up and have more mature expectations of a girlfriend.

Oh good I'm glad you mentioned Cluster B. She doesn't seem able to regulate her emotions.. It doesn't make her a bad person, it just means she needs to re-learn how to comfort herself. Her parents probably didn't meet that need when she was young. It sounds like she recognizes she has a problem. Did you just compare wearing make-up to a sub that encourages boys to think of all women as intellectually, emotionally, and physically beneath them? This is why TBP exsists... If your argument is that a subgroup of men who are classified as "alpha" have historically attracted the most women, this study does nothing to support it. It supports the idea that at a brief historical moment, fewer men had the power to reproduce (for unknown and only speculative reasons) but once that period passed, so did the idea that few men were able to attract/mate with a large majority of the females. Plus, come on... The use of the term alpha is so stupid. Humans deserve more credit th…

As someone who ultimately doesn't care why things are the way they are, only that I understand that they are the way they are, this is the salient point for me. omg you are so frustrating. The point of knowing the dip indicates a cultural or a sudden environmental change destroys the argument that "alphas" exist. Before and after the dip, the trend was toward more even numbers of men and women reproducing. If you don't understand that, I'm signing out.

I'm pretty sure the essence of blue pill is that making giant assumptions about an entire gender is not only scientifically unfounded, it's damaging to interpersonal relationships. /r/PurplePillDebate20/02/16 09:28 AM

That doesn't follow logic at all, and it has nothing to do with legislation. Also, I already said I have compassion for these people. I've worked many of my summers as a teacher taking care of a household shared by developmentally disabled adults. Now I work in medicine; between free clinics for the mentally ill/underinsured and the personal stories of elderly (or abused, or handicapped, etc.) men and women, I have lots of compassion for people. This is a joke.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/16 09:22 AM

So by saying that we should stand up for the respect of individuals unfairly mistreated by society, you think it logically follows that we should be legislating that no one should be ignored? That's not reductio ad absurdum... That's just a crappy rebuttal.

My SO (family lawyer) says it almost never happens in California. It's not worthwhile to go through the process financially. Also it doesn't help the state because the deadbeat dads have a right to a lawyer on the state's dime... Which often results in a waste of money as they can often get off through a loophole. It's even harder to jail for alimony. Ya I'm gonna call bs on this one. Besides, pay your friggin child support... It's your responsibility as a parent. That's not the same thing as al…

That makes me sound snotty, sorry. I just was thinking about when I had a more rosey view of this topic myself. It was honestly before I worked in business, and also worked closely with the leadership in school districts. I met many men who subscribed to the ol' boys' club (not so covertly, but they tried). It's rampant in the field of law. In medicine I see more of a variety of leadership styles, but there are still plenty of older docs who spout sexist nonsense. At least in this field it's met…

I would say, for any gender, being "nice" is a reasonable expectation for simply being a human being. Generally, being "mean" (really digging these simple adjectives) requires something to trigger another person, snide comments, ignoring, abuse, etc... sex doesn't really play into it at all. Another way to see this is, why the hell are you having sex with someone who would be mean to you for no reason? What I wrote is not what you angrily ranted about. Through my SO, I have a good resource for the law in my state. To add to this, I want to say you seem to latch on to this idea that women are using their sexuality to get something out of you. Withdrawing affection when you're in a loving relationship is a form of narcissistic abuse. It typically happens when someone decides the other's feelings aren't worth considering. All male mistreatment of women nowadays stems from either 1. hypergamy or 2. small, excludable portion of violent, criminal men, mentally unstable, etc, not part of the norm. A lot of women are stuck in monogamous relationships but the man is 1.5 smv points higher and can relax (read: she thinks it's abuse he doesn't take her out to romantic getaways every week) and not try hard. men's slut-shaming of women is hardly the only regulation that exists upon that marketplace. Today's sexual marketplace is in fact a case of pro-seller corporatism where the "government" (sometimes the actual government, sometimes only the metaphorical one) outlaws/regulates substitute goods, discourages competition between sellers, and basically tries to keep prices as high as possible for the benefit of the sellers and to the detriment of the consumer. Well of course there are stupid people! Intelligence forms a bell curve like anything else. It's my job to care about people, so I have a different view. My experience shows that more I get to know a person's story, the more value they have. I don't care if they've been sitting in a gutter shooting crystal meth for four years, they have a story (just listened to a guy who went to Stanford law school talk about how he went from attorney to this btw). Intelligence is so varied, too! I suck balls a…

Ah, the intimacy thing makes sense. It's not something I think about, but of course males might have a harder time with that. I'd have no problem falling asleep one of my gf's shoulders, sharing a blanket while we watch a movie. These things would be pretty taboo for guys... Never mind emotional intimacy. So you are a fellow NPR geek?? If you're like me, Terry Gross and Nina Totenberg feel like the names of friends. I also really want Carl Kasell's voice on my answering machine. I promise, NPRin…

Look farther than the local sororities. That's not an accurate representation of an entire gender. In fact, I feel nothing but sorry for young women who've been made to feel (ether through family or social pressure) that this was their worth and the best they can do with themselves. I bet if most of those girls were separated from their vapid lifestyle, their more true personalities would emerge. I grew up in Texas in a suburb that drenched young girls in this type of thing (moved out of that co…

I love the insight into peoples' brains. You have to understand that it's interesting to see how some males perceive the life of an attractive, intelligent female. I'm sure it would be just as interesting flipped the other way around, so I'll have to post something like that when I have the time. The intimacy comment caught me off guard, but I think you're totally right. It's easy for me to open up and get close to friends and patients. Women may on average be more approachable. When you say "I …

I would rephrase that as "there are men who only value looks, and women who only value looks... in themselves and/or in their partners". Human beings are always more valuable than that, and our values adapt as we go through life.

Great post. You make a good point about like the validation and attention, but hating the value placed on looks. I have no problem with self-esteem in my thirties here because I've invested in myself, but many women don't get that message in their 20s and flounder once they find themselves aging (ahem, for the record, I like my looks A LOT more now than in my 20s). It's interesting you mention feeling weak. I've never thought much about it, but then again I've never considered the men around me …

I would just point out that when we tell ourselves "but they shouldn't have been wearing that" or "they shouldn't have walked down that alley alone", we're victim-blaming. There's a small part of us that says "that wouldn't happen to me because I wouldn't do that"... This allows us to think less of the person who was a victim.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/16 05:57 AM

I can totally get on board with hating when people become victims. As far as the rape thing goes, I'm finishing medical school and we have learned from several professors and psychiatrists that the majority of abuse/rape claims are founded. Notice I said majority, not all claims (how do you bold shit on here?). My rule of thumb has always been the man is innocent until proven guilty, and treat the woman with the respect and care she deserves. It's easy when I think of it that way.. I don't waste…

/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/16 05:33 AM

lol, yes you're totally attractive, and stay pretty good-looking through your middle age.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/16 05:31 AM

I guess I'm making it sound "pie in the sky" because that's what I've read on TRP. So yes, solidly middle class, attractive, intelligent, treated well, taken care of, able to obtain a degree, etc. You're not saying yes, and I'm making the assumption it's because it's an oversimplified question. That's totally the point... for the men who say no, I want to know what factors keep them from wanting to be female. From those that say yes, I want to know what perks they would like to live.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/16 05:30 AM

So on this alone, would you rather have been born female?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/16 05:18 AM

I think the point is that in either case, mugging or rape, the person who committed the crime is to blame.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/16 05:14 AM

So it's the fact that women have a choice that's a benefit?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/16 05:08 AM
1

I was looking for something a little deeper than periods, and I wasn't even thinking about rape... more along the lines of the privileges I wrote about (being cared for, lack of financial responsibility, having a leg up, etc.).
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/16 05:06 AM
1

Of course I'd feel bad. Not agreeing with someone doesn't make them less human, as long as they treat me as an individual. It's easy for me to separate behavior from the fact that I'm speaking to a human being with an entire life story. If someone treats me shitty, I can both not tolerate their behavior and still recognize they have they have emotions like any other human.

So... like most thjngs in the English language, the word feminism seems to mean different things to different people. To me, feminism and equality are interchangeable. There's no right answer to this question; it's semantics and doesn't matter. What matters is what people believe in and care about, and if someone calls themselves a feminist, instead of getting upset, it might be prudent to ask for more detail.

Some of the biggest studies show that the age men prefer (on average) depends on the age of the man... about 2 years younger in their 20s and that slowly crawls up to 10-15 years younger by the time they reach 50. By 60, the avg is about 40-45. The authors suggest that it's a mixture of potential fertility in the woman and the fact that couples of similar age share life experience and may bond better. I'll find the studies when I get on my laptop, but thought that was super interesting

When you say "if you give everyone the same starting point and same rights more men will be in STEM..." due to "natural differences". Says who? There's no evidence for that; men and women are never given an "all things being equal" scenario. This statement assumes a genetically-programmed proclivity toward STEM subjects, which has never been proven. We don't grow up in a bubble; a male with my aptitude in math growing up would be encouraged to study a career in the field. What did I hear? "Becom…

Look -- I'm studying for the medical boards and am trying to make my arguments pertinent but succinct. If you really want me to go claim by claim, fine, but I stand by my previous comment. This kind of thinking does NOT go on in a healthy relationship. I as a person I'm not obligated to give time to anyone correct? Aren't you supporting my point by talking about women as if we are all the same? I'm finishing up medical school, and prior to that worked teaching high school. The women I have met, like any person, have wonderful qualities and qualities to work on. Feminism isn't about manipulating/putting down men, it's about allowing females equal opportunity. I've never seen any feminist I know to talk about all men as if they were teenagers, needing to be manipulated through jealousy, threats, or put-downs. You can argue all you want and that's fine, but I get the impression that most of RP is focused on males defending themselves from a grossly over-exaggerated paranoia of women.

I love what you said about lumping people into convenient categories; it is absolutely a cop-out. I would hope my relationship with him would be close enough that I could see a change like this. Women's hypergamy is based on pseudo-science (evolutionary psychology), and is NOT supported by evidence. I imagine if you really believed a good woman would leave you because AWALT, I could understand your anger. Truth is, more men cheat on women in monogamous relationships and infidelity is MUCH more correlated to personality types (conscientiousness, agreeableness) than gender.

This is making no sense to me and I totally think I know why. I have another thread going on about a man being accused on twitter of sexual harassing 10 women, and completely confused the two. Ya know, your post exemplifies the fact that it takes A LOT more effort to justify this man's behavior than it does to have empathy for the multiple women he's very clearly harassed. These are people who are going about their careers, not asking to be groped. It's threatening and scary when a drunk guy continues to feel you up and you are sending a clear message that you don't want it. Isn't the idea that AWALT just a self-fulfilling prophecy? RPs view basic day-to-day interaction through a lens of "shit tests" (honey, can you help clear the table) and "comfort tests" (e.g. expressing emotion, tears, anxiety,... etc.). My guess is that BPs, and the majority of members in an egalitarian society, are better able to live with the fact that all humans have shades of grey.
