Considering women working and getting out there rather than being SAHM is more of a recent phenomenon, it's probably fair for people to be curious about men's opinions. Smh, some people just like to get mad when the topic comes up.

Oh my bad dude, your usernames were too similar for my brain to differentiate :/ I just took it as another attack to my points, wrongly. I apologize

This sub has a disproportionate amount of men who would think that way, because they are drawn to the content this sub. In statistics it’s called a convenience sample. It’s elementary. The facts don’t support your thesis. I’ve provided you studies. Tell me what you think. EDIT: Also, “the thought passes and then they move on”....? So... that means they can be friends. Dude get outta here I’m done talkin in circles lmao

You can think that. Your evidence was faulty, based off pop culture of the 80s or 90s, and anecdotal. Mine? Well, I’m not providing evidence. You’re trying to prove me wrong. Unfair how debate works, huh? Don’t get me wrong, I like the movie When Harry Met Sally but I’m not going to base my life philosophy off of it. On a similar note, I don’t find your non-study convincing. I asked for a link, you didn’t provide one. If your definition of schooled is being shown a poorly supported thesis, then …

Right - I know that you think that. I’m saying I don’t think that. Don’t get me wrong - I don’t think these relationships are as common; I could not grab a random guy on the street and say “omg ur my BFF now !!!” And expect him to be all for it. These friendships are cultivated, worked on, and typically happen between two fully autonomous, platonically-compatible adults. After 10 years these friends of mine could just...stop being my friend if they want. They know they’re not getting any. They c…

So what you are saying is with your laughable evidence is that men look at women and can’t help but think “me want to fuck that !!!!!!” I think you hold men to way too a low standard. I’m sure there are plenty of men who would read what you conclude about them and be insulted. I am NOT arguing that men are not sexual toward women. I am saying that men can be friends with women. I didn’t find your YouTube video compelling. Nor did I find your references to out-dated pop culture convincing. Your p…

Perhaps one could ask, “do you find satisfaction in this relationship knowing that it’s purely platonic?” But honestly, the fact that we’re still friends is proof enough to me. You may think I’m naive, but I believe people’s worldview is often solidified by those with whom they surround themselves. That is, people are attracted to personalities that are like theirs. Opposites do not attract. So while you may not have satisfaction from a platonic relationship with a woman, and anecdotally you bel…

that is specifically phrased to be like a come on. please stop putting everything “in quotes” it just seems like you’re totally trying to invalidate everything I say when we can both just resolve to disagree.

I understand your viewpoint. I still disagree.

Hmm, I don’t know. I respectfully don’t agree. I’ve met many men who aren’t like you. By the way, I know men are different than women, if I gave you some impression I don’t think that.

Hmm, or they’re just different than you? I don’t know why you put “male friends” in quotes - as if they’re not male and not my friends.

I mean, I’m a woman and I have plenty of male friends, none of whom I validate sexually. I show zero interest in sex, although I do compliment platonically when it is warranted. To each his own I suppose.

If this is the same study I read, it attempted to show women’s preferences in masculinity change at different points during her cycle. It actually concludes that the changes are too minuscule to affect mate selection. I see people try and use this study a lot to justify these ideas, claiming that the data does indeed demonstrate that there is some sort of difference. Unfortunately these people always conveniently leave out the study’s conclusion. EDIT: Also, for anyone arguing with you, there is…

Stop hating yourself. You aren’t a bad person. You were affected by a cult-like group of people who appeal to men who feel men (and young men in particular I think, although that’s just my assertion). You became a part of this community during the most impressionable years of your life. You need to focus on actively thinking empathetically, which I think starts with active listening and keeping an open mind. You also need to open up to the people in your life that you trust about this. You’re hu…
