They are overrepresented compared to the control group. On top of that they are numerous enough (in the US) to influence the average. Men and woman that don't marry/have kids are quite different from a social-cultural perspective. The main reason woman don't marry is that they have a highly demanding job and prioritize career over marriage/kids. A secondary reason are their (poor) looks.
