Bit late to the party, but speaking mostly from personal experience I'd say the near total lack of empathy and support for men in crisis. I've been homeless twice in my life. Both times totally broke with nothing to my name. Everything I owned was what I could carry. I reached out to all the people in my life and got nothing. Publicly people would flat out ignore me, or worse look to actively torment me just because they could. Despite clearly needing help, being willing to do any work for any a…

Look man, you're young and have time to make mistakes. Don't be afraid to do so. I've been the "creepy guy" before. If you're genuine about your intentions people will see through any bullshit labels they might try to stick on you. Simple as. That said, figure out what this is going to be from the start, and stick to it. If you're interested in a relationship, sexual, romantic, or otherwise, say so. She's free to say no. Accept it and move on. Don't bother asking why, or get upset, just say ok a…

I'm no lawyer, but it seems like all you need to do is prove she's got the kids somewhere other than where the court thinks she does. If she got married, that should be public record and you could get confirmation of that at the courthouse they filed at. I'm certain they had wedding photos and video you could grab from social media to corroborate that. While addresses aren't public record, when you fill out a permanent change of address USPS will release the new address to anyone who sends you f…

Going your own way means shrugging off societal expectations in lieu of your own. This means living the life you choose, regardless of what others think. It seems a bit ironic that you'd ask this if you really were, but if the decision to have a partner is solely your own, then yes.

This was a piece I also took objection to, as whether or not someone generally trusts another person is highly individualistic, and often colored by their past experiences. Attractive people should also expect sexual advances, regardless of gender. That's just part and parcel of looking good. The last one could be interpreted in multiple ways as well. Masturbating is a release of sexual pressure and is normal and healthy. I don't like how conclusions were drawn based on answers to questions that…

I've engaged with incels, both on their turf and 1 on 1. I've seen that sentiment expressed one time, by one person in anger after being ghosted after 4 dates. That's out of 60-70 of them I've spoken to. Quite the contrary as far as improvement goes as well. All the forums and group chats had sections dedicated to ignoring women in the pursuit of fitness, education, career building, etc. Which ironically will make them more attractive to women. I think that's an unspoken truth they all know but …

I feel you mate. My attempt was about two years ago now. I know the feeling of having no family to speak of and people you call friends but aren't sure if that's the right word for them since they don't offer the support friends are supposed to. I also know there really aren't any words of comfort I can offer you that you haven't heard regurgitated by the people around you so often they're empty of meaning. You're still quite young and seem to have a decent head on your shoulders if you're in un…

Honestly I can take the brunt of things. Call me what you will, say what you want, hell you can tell me to my face you think I'm wrong and that's fine too. What really makes my blood boil, the thing that makes me feel rage in my bones is the hypocrisy. You say all victims have a voice, but when I try to speak my piece you tell me I don't really matter. I speak truth to you and you flood over it with lies. I play by your rules and you change them at your whim to keep me under your thumb. You chip…

If the ratio is 2:1 that means you would need at least a 101% increase for more women to have committed suicide. The rise was 83%. Not to mention male suicide also rose during that same time period.

You don't have to meet the requirements you set for your partners specifically. The sentiment is there to remind people to keep their expectations real based on their perceived value by the opposite sex and not be surprised when judged on their past. Short fat guys living in their parents basement shouldn't be trying to only date supermodels. Average looking girls with the personality of bathroom floor tiles shouldn't be rejecting every guy who doesn't look like [insert attractive male here] and…

*had assets. Just under 10k in savings, motorcycle and a ranger. All sold to pay off debts and get the new vehicle so I could get to work. I don't remember what the interest amount was I'd have to find the papers. My field was Railcar service and maintenance, but having your body basically destroyed limits what physical labor you can do. Now I test and store aluminum samples for 12 bucks an hour. If you're going to say work harder and save more or get a second job or just put yourself out there then no I don't want to hear it. There's a host of reasons I don't think you were in my shoes when you were younger but I'm not going to get into that. If you think you can help me, then by all means. It's your time to waste.

You shouldn't worry about having an impeccable, trendsetting sense of style and fashion; but you should worry about wearing tennis shoes and cargo shorts, gym shorts, or dad jeans every time you go outside. Most of the clothes I own are jeans for work and solid colored shirts. Getting a new wardrobe costs more money than I have access to, especially if you want it to fit well. What do you propose I do? You shouldn't worry about becoming a social butterfly that can talk to anyone at anytime about…

That's because for men what utility you provide and what you do brings a lot of meaning to your life. It's absolutely vital to your identity. If that's taken away and unable to be replaced quickly, it makes sense that person would begin to spiral without a fantastic support network. Instead people lose respect for them as you said. Way to kick em when they're down.

Markets can exist without some objective scale. Bazaars and open markets operated on barter systems for hundreds of years before the advent of money. What was being sold was only as valuable as what the person trading for it thought it was, and vice versa. In that sense, there is indeed a SMP. Those with what is perceived as most valuable can trade for nearly anything they'd like. Being able to represent that in an objective way to figure out what traits/behaviors one should improve first is the…

The scale would obviously be your objective attractiveness. There is no panel. I never eluded to that at all. Additionally it's only theoretically possible that you could be truly objective on such a subjective matter. I said this in my first statements which you chose to ignore. I'm not asserting it's the truth. You can however look at the people who would be at the top of said scale and emulate the qualities people find attractive in them. I'd be pleased if you'd stop pretending your IQ is roo…
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/20 12:11 PM

That's because it's theoretical. Quantifying attractiveness is nearly impossible, as what people find attractive varies greatly and even if you could somehow get them all together attempting to stratify and rank order them would take ages. Interaction between people and how they perceive other people is also nearly impossible to interpret in an objective way. In that sense it's much like a figure of speech as you said. On the other side of that coin anyone with half a brain could understand the …

If you didn't want to get pregnant, or don't think you're capable of raising a child, there are many steps you can take to specifically avoid that. Not living with the consequences of your poor choices is shirking responsibility for the things you chose to do.

It boils down to personal responsibility. Getting pregnant is not step one or two, it's about 10 wrong choices down the line, outside of corner cases. You chose the guy. You decided to sleep with him. You chose not to take the pill. You said no condom was fine. You let him finish inside you. You didn't bother taking the morning after pill just in case. You made choice after choice that eventually led to you being pregnant. There were multiple times along that line where you could have decided di…

It's never really defined. It's supposed to be subjective, so whatever that particular woman thinks "glowing up" is. They give a few examples of things you can do but it's basically whatever they think is enough to make them high value. Kind of ironic IMO.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/20 07:41 PM

I'd like to say you're misrepresenting FDS slightly. Having read the handbook they reference the "glow up" stage several times. It's essentially self care and finding a job that allows you to support yourself. Not exactly the pinnacle that TRP points you to, but they do require some work on one's self. Beyond that, I agree it's hot garbage. I actually encountered one of these women in the wild years before I knew what FDS was, and the way she acted and treated me just left a bad taste in my mout…

Congratulations, you named 3. My state has 54 listed women's shelters, 18 for families, and 3 for men. Your statement about the number of beds is irrelevant. It doesn't change the fact that men are indeed turned away. Shelters who house abused women and children are known to turn away men due to safety concerns, even though it makes no sense.

Dismantling gender roles is taking things too far, imo. It's perfectly reasonable to say you don't have to conform to them if you don't want to, but men and women naturally fall into them. That's the entire reason they were gendered in the first place. In the case of the family unit both parents need to occupy one of the roles to give their children the best chance of success. Doesn't particularly matter who does what, so long as the roles are occupied. As for affirmative action, that's unfortun…

Women's shelters exist, but men's shelters basically don't. Many homeless shelters simply don't allow men to stay overnight. SNAP and similar programs give higher priority to women than men. A single man cannot get government subsidized housing without some form of mental or physical disability, but women can. Medicaid applicants who are women receive higher priority in the approval process. In the US, more women than men benefit from government programs in general. Purely anecdotal, but I vivid…

You should take a basic psychology course and familiarize yourself with Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Societies destabilize and collapse on the first two levels, sex is on the third. Viewing monogamy as socialism is so disingenuous. People aren't rounded up and then paired together by some central authority, they make that choice of their own volition. The family unit and being monogamous was socially "enforced" because it provides the most stability for all those involved. No, the other systems …

The issue to me seems to be that men's power over women is explicit and women's power over men is implicit. So you admit that each of them has powers they can use over the other, but the only ones who need changed are the men. You're off to a great start. A lot of women in this society are allowed to get away with murder. And they have the state behind them in many instances. I'm not condoning the actions of those women. But what women do to is what they're not doing. They have unrealistic stand…

You can't place the accountability for gender relations solely on men when half of the responsibilities rest on the shoulders of women. Most likely. Casual sex/hookups/flings don't run along class structures because it's easy to keep discreet and those people don't impact your life in a meaningful capacity most times. LTRs involve interaction with friends and family, who tend to group along class lines. Within each class there are rules that govern what is and isn't acceptable. Once you've passed into UMC the general rule is to increase wealth, status, and power both actively and passively. Dating down or in some cases even asso…

Maybe it's different interpretations. Guy being an "asshole" ruins the relationship. So redpill guys skip the first step and change to be what she "wants" missing the fact that many women want to "tame a beast" so to speak and don't understand they're missing a critical element. I personally believe that men need purpose and responsibility or they will implode, without fail. I'm a prime example. You can fill out a relatively simple form to give power of attorney to someone even if they aren't married to you. Better mortgage rates would be based on having more than one income bound to the expense, meaning there's a better chance they get paid. Being married has nothing to do with it.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/09/20 03:47 AM

Can you not make a commitment to someone without getting married? If marriage means something to someone for personal or religious reasons, can they not hold the ceremony without becoming legally bound to one another? My stance is that marriage from a legal standpoint is superfluous at best and needlessly damaging at worst.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/09/20 03:41 AM

Okay, so there is a risk in that regard, albeit a small one. You don't take on risk without some sort of additional payout. What upside is offered by marriage that would offset that risk that simply remaining in a LTR would not?

I would venture to say most men don't do this. If you're going by this sub or the internet in general, you'll run into far more fringe cases because those are the only spaces they're tolerated in. Out of the 25ish guys I'm friends with only one of them behaves in the manner you've described, and everyone but myself refuses to hang with the guy because he can be a pain to deal with when he hits those subjects. Call it anecdotal. Say it's too small a sample size. Those are perfectly valid points t…

I am, but only because it's just the one pair of shorts with the cum stains. My shirts are all freshly laundered.

You're being hyperbolic about this whole situation. I'm also fairly certain you can't just choose who you are and aren't attracted to.

Generally, how do you feel about women? That's rather broad but I don't hate women on the basis of gender. People vary quite a bit so judging them on an individual level is the only real way to do so. I do find myself more anxious and conscious of myself around women though. Can you enjoy them intellectually? Sure, if they're intellectually engaging. Common interests help here too. Do you feel like you’re able to engage with them on a meaningful level? I suppose that largely depends on what you …

I agree that both exist. I just think you're discounting the positives many of the things you listed actually bring to both sexes. As I said previously, they're not a problem until taken to the extreme.

Enforcing the law is toxic masculinity?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/20 04:57 AM

Toxic masculinity is the result of men taking the ways they're taught to behave to the extreme. Saying they're harmful is like saying drinking water is bad for you. Only true if you drink way too much. Men having a harder time getting in touch with their emotions is a misandrist viewpoint. No gender is better than the other when it comes to something completely subjective. Honestly I think we mostly agree with each other, save for some misunderstandings and minutiae.

I don't really understand what you're trying to say here. Are you just listing examples? I didn't say toxic masculinity didn't exist.

Toxic masculinity is the end result of taking masculine aspects to the extreme, so much so that they hurt the individual, those around them, or both. How does it differ from traditional masculinity? It doesn't, really. As I said above, it's the end result of taking those traditionally masculine aspects to the extreme. Why was/is masculinity needed? Masculinity is one half of the whole that perpetuated human existence for thousands of years. Masculinity is most needed to maintain a semblance of o…

That isn't what I said in the slightest and I don't appreciate you trying to push me to an indefensible position. Of course I'm not okay with violence being inflicted upon anyone unduly. More to the point, what I meant is that violence, specifically the threat of it, is a major factor in deterring those who would use it for their own personal gain. That aspect of masculinity is the rule of law. We've all agreed to live by these rules and if you break them, we'll use whatever force necessary to s…

The only "dysfunctional" aspect you've named is misogyny/homophobia and possibly emotional constipation, but that's more of an end result of emotional constraint than an aspect of masculinity itself. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by emphasizing or exclusively promoting them. All of those things are part of the male experience and aren't problems until taken to the extreme. If that's what you're saying I'll agree with you but otherwise you're so far off the mark it's laughable.

Not being entirely supportive of her interests or her being dissatisfied with the way you're supporting her Not making enough romantic gestures for her satisfaction Not sacrificing enough to accommodate her wants and desires Not giving up your own hobbies and interests to give her attention Voicing complaints when she engages in unacceptable or dangerous behavior rather than encourage it Being nice to other women or engaging in "flirty" behavior Speaking entirely from personal experience, but ye…

It's in one of the links yeah. I think more realistically it's an extension of the fact that men are generally seen as the providers in LTRs and marriages. If at any point they stop fulfilling that role the women often leave or initiate divorce. So they say she never really loved him, just what he provided for her. I can see why they think that, but they don't give enough credit to how much strain financial instability puts on individuals, let alone relationships.

The knowledge itself isn't the shock, rather the blatant sexism and misrepresentation of an entire gender. Same goes for TRP.

However, since we have moved past sexist origins That's an incredibly disingenuous point to sneak into your premise. Most significant laws, actions, traditions, and cultural norms for most of history were about survival and continuation of the species. Even life in the west didn't improve to the point that sexism was the primary concern of the people at large I'd argue until the 20th century. Mothers create a couples child. They suffer the burden or sacrificing bodily comfort, risking their heal…

I'm gonna preface this by saying that even though I am a man, I am aware that my desires within a relationship run counter to the typical man. I'm the exception, not the rule. •Do you feel like as a man it’s your role to be the pursuer? Yes, but I don't like it. It's the way it's been done for the entirety of human existence, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. • Would you feel immasculated if a woman took the lead and actively pursued you? Fuck no. If anything it confirms your masculini…

I don't have a lot, but I do have 2 guys that I'm 100% certain that if I were to text them right now they'd agree to it. And a few I'm not 100% certain. I think this hits right at the core of one of the big issues. If you wanted a relationship or just a hookup it would be literally a text away. Most guys won't ever have that option and it breeds bitterness and resentment. FDS then further excludes them and makes the barrier to entry that much higher. They see it as being kicked while they're dow…

I think people with different goals in mind when it comes to dating and relationships are going to hate on strategies that don't serve their interests regardless of gender. The way you've framed the argument is incredibly reductive. Nobody should allow anyone to abuse them. That's like bare minimum requirement for any relationship, romantic or otherwise. If you're having trouble seeing why people hate on FDS outside of the hardcore incel/RP crowd, I worry for you. FDS does work, much the same wa…

Originally the statement was about wardens, not guards as you've so readily sidestepped to. You said nothing about the other two which I'll take as them being true. Women can and do rape men. Your assertion that that statement isn't rooted in reality is absurd as is you saying that when men get raped it's only other men doing it.

Thank you for blessing me with that. I'm in tears reading this. I grew up on a farm and giving Betsy the time of her life after milking her in the morning never crossed my mind. Now I get to figure out which of the cousins did.

Prison rape, men paying child support to their rapists, and women raping underage boys aren't real. Good to know.
