The "don't be so hard on yourself" is especially bullshit. What most people do when they fail a goal is "okay, NO BIG DEAL, let's try again". That's fine until you realize that you're not immortal - meaning that there will come a point in your life that it will be too late to retry, best case scenario because you're too old or close to dying from some illness. I don't even see discipline-oriented communities stating the obvious "listen, you're gonna have to suck it up and make some sacrifices, a…

Depends on whether said girl is a sexual fleeting partner or an LTR. LTR's will inevitably know, plates don't have to so I only mention shit that affects our date like ordering milk when you're lactose intolerant or whiskey when you have gastritis (example).

You're far better to start sooner than later. I'm happy with whatever progress I can get at this point (I arrived late in the red pill party) but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be better off if I were to have an actual father figure who knows his shit.

So it is an "elephant in the room", so do we just not talk about it because it is too late? We don't usually talk about here because the truth is not comfortable. It's better to become something than nothing but the older you get sitting on one's weed the lower the altitude you can climb. The kid that eats and shits self-improvement since his 17-18's will reach higher than me starting in my 35. The majority of kids who hit university can't wait to finally fuck around and work on them "later", an…

There's an elephant in the room hidden in the vibes of what you wrote. Women throw away their youth getting plowed by chads until they realize they're 30 and want to settle. Men throw away their youth partying, playing video games, smoking weed and indulging in hedonism until they realize they're 25-30 and want to find a mission. Like Jordan Peterson said "nobody's excited about you if you're 30 and you're just kinda looking where you belong". Go out there, do shit. Invest in multiple interests,…

You're confusing crystallization with personality transformation. I'm close to my forties and I'm vastly different than what I was a year ago. Changing habits and behaviors is the same thing. "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" applies when the dog doesn't give a fuck about changing.

A buddy of mine would go the extra mile "she's too hot, therefore she has a boyfriend" (???), "I'm too ugly for her" (perhaps true but then she won't tell you something new if you talk to her so what the fuck scares you?).

Since I started hitting the gym which is the first advice that you get, the benefits slowly trickled in my life: I focus on building a skill to translate it to a career, I work on my social skills etc (I don't approach yet because I'm too shit physically to do and I stopped going to clubs a decade ago). Nowadays I visit TRP when I have the time. And this came naturally. I didn't decided NOT to go to TRP, I decided to focus into working on myself. And while reading TRP and the sidebar is part of …

I have no social life or friends, been masturbating to porn for 5 months 3 nuts a day, I have a phone with no numbers in it besides my family and I only hang out with my parents, I realized I must change and mature You're just like me. 20 yr old No you're not. I'm 37 with health disorders and I know that vomiting paragraphs to vent my frustration that came from learning how things work will not help. Go to the sidebar for reading, I'm following.

If someone pretends that he didn't get it, pressure flip. "Wow, aren't you going to respond?" I did. "When? I didn't heard anything." Well, pay more attention next time. ;) "Please say it again" Things like these are like jokes, explaining it or repeating it ruins it.

It's Tinder, you're not looking for LTR in Tinder. And if you're looking for LTR in Tinder get over your approach anxiety and meet girls normally. There's no such thing as a non-slut girl, especially on Tinder.

Lower the weights man. A buddy of mine got trigger happy with the idea and damaged his muscle tissue (can't remember the name doctors gave) and now has to abstain from working out for months. Meanwhile I said "well I'm not doing that shit, I'll start lower" but a week later I made the mistake of upping lifts in a wrong way and my body hurts. People go "it took me 6 months but did it" but there's nothing wrong with taking you 7. Everyone's body is different. Stay strong.

You've met like-minded individuals is something that can happen anywhere. The fact that you then went ahead and did a lot of things worth mentioning that aren't gaming, because if you were to honestly categorize activities by "worth mentioning" or "impressive", "nailing it at Capture the flag" isn't one of them. It isn't even about impressing others, it's about placing value in your finite time in this life. When young, you have no sense of what that means, of course. Video games aren't anything…

There's something to be taught to people who generally value the contents of their wallet more than their time. I got into reading Stoicism stuff and Seneca's letters "on the shortness of life" pretty much taught me to respect my time. By absorbing that lesson I stopped browsing reddit and became more productive. In fact wasting excess time now disgusts me, because my standards on what "fun" is are higher. That means I'd rather read a book that has some insight to offer than play a video game th…

Positive pop psychology failed when everyone became a winner. This is reality saying "8th place isn't the eighth winner, it's a loser". And fuck off for correlating positive psychology with maturity. Being mature is about how you handle your day to day life, not making others feel good and "you can do it even if you fail", "get up and try again, nothing's wrong with failing" (try doing that 10 times see how this works).

This rings a bell with me. Because of an accident that I had when I was young and my parents being uneducated to the point of agreeing with something unspeakable to my upbringing, I ended up lacking in self-esteem. Being a natural Chad is like being a natural scientist. You get to realize that the distribution of any human trait is not only Pareto-like but the top 20% will simply be a league on their own. I recall a lecture I was watching a few years ago with someone explaining this to the IQ difference between 125 and 135. It's like the 135 makes 125 look like a monkey struggling with a banana.

I don't know what it is that women find so interesting in a man that is taken Think of it like this: If you were to hire someone for a job, assuming everything else equal (to get networking and nepotism out of the way) would you rather hire someone with proved track record or someone inexperienced or someone who, in the best case scenario, held a job for a few months before getting fired? I think you overstate male rationality. If it came so naturally, training in mathematics and logic would come more easily. People think that "a gender being more rational than the other means free meal ticket". Think of it like the muscle capability. Men's muscles can grow larger than women's without external interference (supplements) due to biological difference. But that alone doesn't guarantee that you will be more muscular than any woman just because you're a man. It guarantees that if you …

Men tend to look at things in parts (we’re attracted to boobs or butts, we will look at a guy’s shoulders and assume he is strong, etc.) whereas women get a feel for the overall thing. Did we just explained why men tend to get into engineering/crafting professions naturally, whereas women tend to be caring and artistic with a "big picture" viewpoint?

The problem is they object to doing anything. Incel becomes self defining If you think about it, that's "learned helplessness" in a nutshell. You identify with your life situation so hard that it became a part of your identity (who you are). Best case scenario: You're aware of it and you're constantly trying to make things work. Worst case scenario: You're not aware of your own bullshit and you keep avoiding personal responsibility because blaming anything else feels better for your psyche. Whic…

Sometimes you will find yourself in social situations with women (and pussified men), and they will bring up topics related to relationships or dating. Their goal is not to discuss them objectively and get to know other perspectives. They want either validation or a reaction. When women and betas discuss their problems they're not looking for guidelines on how to solve them, they're looking to vent their victim mentality so you can go "oh poor unlucky thing, I agree". That's part of their social…

What should boggle your mind is that, if marriage is discouraged then you can either have kids without being married or just not propagate your genes. And if you opt out of said propagation then what's left to carry humanity's torch is "blue pillers". It's why I treat this place as a salad bar, filtering the bullshit out and move on. Discipline has to stem from a position of self-love and self-interest. Your post reeks of self-loathing. "I feel like shit", "I waste away a whole day". If you think that you must do something "just because you have to" then you're gonna look for the easy way out or you will be anxious about doing it as quick as possible so that you can play video games. Don't know who downvoted you but I just fixed that. We do need more experienced people and advice but we also need to be able to tell when we need a better mentor. That's why people come here. They are trying to learn and mature. Every activity in your life is a place to grow, that doesn't mean they're all equally responsible for your education. TRP isn't here to babysit no one. You're gonna get an opinion or 12 and what you'll end up doing with that is all up to you. This is what we call critical thinking. I can appreciate GayLubeOil's criticism but still like the other things The Family Alpha offers as a married man. Relying on other things in stead of anything else is in fact the definition of compensation. You cannot negotiate actual sexual attraction. Talking about dieting feels way better then actually dieting. It's also the reason why discipline-oriented subs are full of losers waiting to cry blood on how doomed their lives are and how they cannot get their shit together to work. And if you dare suggesting them to "just work" they'll go "waaaah but I can't!". Suddenly they have a new source to get social approval for failing. The only times when that's not true is when you're actually fucking attractive to the point of invoking her animalistic sexual desire. The strongest attraction triggers are social alliances and preselection. Think about why that is. You're not wrong but I wouldn't rely on just those because those are the basic requirements. Beta bucks can also provide those, and I'm not gonna become some girl's wallet that gets laid only in his birthday. Newcomers would say "well, now I don't have to hit the gym I can just socialize". I 100% agree with the core message of your post, but I'm having trouble understanding this (which isn't part of the core message): A man's support is quite often altruistic, where as a woman's desire to support is inherently selfish. "A man's support is quite often altruistic"? Last time I checked "No more mr. nice guy" is one of the required reads of the sub because beta men are selfish. My pet theory is that masturbation with porn eventually leads to SMV delusion. It's not masturbation itself that is bad but systematically visualizing that you are the actor who fucks the hot girl in the video will eventually lead you to think that you have same SMV. "real mission" is a fucking myth, like "the right one" is the myth that leads to oneitis. Both finding your passion and finding the one for you are bullshit feel good myths around chasing a unicorn. The difference with a mission is that you know when it's DONE. I'll disagree with you on that. Because when it's done then what? You find another mission in life? Are life missions that replaceable? And if missions = goals then what if your mission is too specific and fails, like "becoming a senior dev at Facebook"? You think that's sick? I used to know a girl who was on the process of making a third facebook account because her 2 accounts where already full! She just kept inviting men and was posting pictures of her visiting the beach, eating ice cream etc. Social media for girls are like video games for boys. Boys feel achievement for performing great in a competitive yet virtual world like Overwatch and Hearthston while girls feed on the social approval from people they don't even know.

Thanks for the advice. I found "The Power of Habit" summarized online (how habits are formed etc) but after looking out for discomfort and forcing myself into it I realized that what you describe is similar to what Julien Smith describes in the book "The Flinch", which in turn led me to pretend that I'm a fighter looking to get over my flinch, and of course the answer to that is "expose yourself more".

To be a man be is to be strong. It's the strength to look fear in the face and be strong in the face of fear! If then we really need to solve this "problem" then we should start by making up a term that isn't rigged to blame the student, but the teacher. If we wanted real solutions we would be scolding those who use half-assed blanket patch-aids as "man up" instead of giving a step by step guide on the issue that I face that led you to give me "man up" as an advice to solve it.

If you have a shit job as a woman, you're a victim of feminism Fixed. Let's not forget the persecution complex.

Underrated comment and spot on to what OP's asking. Why is this sub default to "if you wonder if X is beta it's a beta behavior"? Without close examination of your habits there's no improvement, and no 2 activities are made of equal value. Maybe we're more busy trying to be alpha while playing video games and masturbate to porn, because showing 1 sign of alpha "I do what I want" is better than showing multiple.

We'll just agree to disagree on that, then.

That one in particular becomes a masturbational pity party after a while. Just read the 2 most famous books about habits (7 habits + the power of habit) or even better, read their summaries under 10 minutes and get working.

Here's a plot twist: 2 years from now you'll be different in some ways and the same in other ways. There is no such thing as "something that you truly are" that you need to find. A person's character is dynamic, not static. If you don't like something like a hobby, habit, behavior you just change it. It won't happen overnight but it's worth it.

I googled it and it's pretty much the entirety of chapter 1 if you're talking about this one.

It's why I always preferred the "forge it until you make it" wording more. You never fake that you stopped smoking or drinking. You never fake that you're suddenly French or German because you learned a couple of words. It's only when we talk about changing your expected behavior to something different than your upbringing just happened to be that we talk about "faking until". Every other intervention to affect your brain's plasticity towards adapting your skills or habits are fair game, it's on…

As /u/VirginPlaya said, I tried to get into the power of now when I was getting into meditation (I still consider myself to be novice at meditating), but the spiritual crap was a huge turnoff and found "the mind illuminated" and "a guide to spirituality without religion" to be much better (I'm currently following the mind illuminated practice).

That sounds a little too pretentious, given that you cannot completely remove all external influences to your behavior. After all, before you reach the point where you have sufficient amount of wisdom to operate and decide by yourself you followed advice from others, whether parents, relatives or friends. I also don't see where in my post worded it as a "need". I only brought up gym as an example of giving a fuck about what would people think about you when you walk in the gym for the first time…

I think the reason he opted to not being straight forward with both models and the not give a fuck book (although I only read one chapter of that) is that he's playing on people's fantasies while broadening the message. It's like choosing to pander to everyone but no one at the same time.

I think I read something similar about "Models" which is also his book. His message through "models" does sound like it's trying to pander to an audience that isn't the book's target audience (women) and he's softening the rough edges by saying "show vulnerability" and shit. The threads I dug out have tons of arguments over what that means, why would you even attempt to obfuscate the core message of your book unless you really have nothing to say and you just go left-right-right-left enough time…

I have to ask: She does not hang out with or see anyone besides me. Is that knowledge derived by one of her statements or simply your observation? The reason I ask this is that, in the off-chance that this has become something that you talked about, you may have come across to her as "mate-guarding". You don't want a girl to stay with you because she cut her ties with the outside world, you want a girl that stays with you because no matter her social circle you're her best option. Same goes with…

It feels like it's a book that is targeting those who already live comfy lives but are getting anxious and distressed over minor shit.
