Ugh. You guys fundamentally misrepresent feminism and that's why this sub is labeled a hate sub. The whole community is toxic and unable to understand that women do not have the same social rights afforded to men. Feminism wants to mitigate the gap, not strip rights from men. Men already are the most socially empowered gender, so I honestly don't understand the purpose of this sub beyond just criticizing misunderstood concepts of feminism.

Source? Both men and women have advantages/disadvantages. I can think of many areas where men are at a disadvantage. It's generally consensus that men are at an advantage in society... Never really encountered anyone that will argue otherwise. Just economically, men make more money, Men are more likely to be hired, etc. You're also invoking the relative privation fallacy (we can't fix any men's problems until all women's issues are gone!). I never said anything of the sort.

That's missing the point entirely. Men are currently at the advantage in society, this is pretty much undisputed. So any programs for women aren't some crusade against men, they're aimed at mitigating that gap. It's the exact same idea as the NAACP. White people don't have an equivalent because we don't need an equivalent. Same applies to men.

Yes, no one is questioning women's right to have equal rights and equal opportunities - that view has near-universal support. But feminism isn't about that any longer, ..... That's literally the definition of feminism. Feminism is, by definition, about that.

In 2014 only 18% of Americans identified as feminists, and that figure is continuing to fall over time. In the UK in 2016 the number was only 7% and falling. Yeah it's actually a shockingly low number (the poll I was looking at said that 20% identify as feminists). However, I said that a majority of Americans identified with feminist views. 82% of American poll respondents believe that "men and women should be social, political, and economic equals" (the definition of feminism).

The people you're describing are a very, very vocal minority. Over half of Americans identify with the views of feminism. It's very easy to conflate shitty people who practice feminism with the whole movement but you have to separate the two. If you believe men should be equal to women, that's feminism. Anything past that begins to radicalize the ideology.

It's not a gendered issue because there is nothing we can do to mitigate the gender gap. The way we handle it is as an economic issue. Nothing is ever a 50/50 split. A correlation doesn't mean causation. There isn't really anything to suggest that the reason they are homeless is because they are male...
