Historically, both of them did exist at one point. The Illuminati was (supposedly) disbanded in 1776 by order of the king of Bavaria, there's just no evidence that they, you know, actually disbanded, hence why people believe (reasonably) that they still exist to this day. Can confirm, I live in Scotland and I'm surrounded by people who likely masturbate to the EU flag, thank god most of my family and friends aren't Brainwashed.
