I'd recommend asking her on the spot. I know you said you weren't in the seduction mindset at the time, and I understand that, but asking her during the moment when you've just elevated her likeness for you is generally helpful. Also, asking in person shows more confidence than asking over text or IM. One last thing, you got rejected, but remember, this was just one time. She might have just not been into you, and that's okay. There is no man in the world who can have whatever girl he wants.

It can be. The easiest way to tell is a girl's body language. Examine the way she responds to your touch, and try to adjust how and where you are touching her accordingly.

I'd avoid "hot" personally, just sounds very simple-minded and unintelligent. Hot is more appropriate for talking about someone rather than to them.

It makes perfect sense in this context. If you were at a birthday party for a girl you just met two days ago, the family would probably be appreciative of a stranger who was kind and friendly towards them. Also, OPs comment here about them being an ethnic family makes a lot of sense as well. I'm half Puerto Rican and every family gathering on the island involves A LOT and I mean A LOT of socializing. OP checks out.
