To extrapolate this a bit: seeking mentors is something that adds massive potential to your life but it doesn't get talked about directly much here on TRP. It's like Da Vinci said: "if I have seen farther, than it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants"

Lol, yeah you're going to be hard pressed to provide the kind of dopamine spikes that video games provide. Are you really supposed to just entertain some Joe schmoe for 2 hours? What about your entertainment?

I think it'd be better as a whole if society wouldn't goad these fragile men into these kind of situation in the first place. The world couldn't handle everyone being alpha, the hierarchy stays in place. But I don't think the betas need to be this beta.

HUS is privately owned and as such they can pick and choose what comments stay up. Free speech isn't under attack from what happened to you, more like people on the Internet like to keep their biases nice and confirmed. Women are naturally solipsist, and viewpoints on the Internet tend to echo that sort of perspective, this is true for both men and women online.

That and when they do stay in college is because they picked a field that's actually a challenge, and the degree will prove to be worth more than the paper is printed on. Can't say the same for women's studies

Dependence and potential serotonin syndrome. Now obviously MDMA pales in danger to crystal meth or heroin, but the issue OP mentions doesn't seem like MDMA would help.

Hmmmm, an interesting thought, I definitely don't disagree that the state of euphoria can be enlightening. But that's running a potentially large risk on a mere gamble of efficacy.
/r/askTRP18/09/15 03:31 PM

Well, the OP is talking about a persistent issue and you're telling him to use extremely potent amphetamines. Prolonged use of drugs is extremely reckless and dangerous and it's a cover to avoid underlying issues. Sure MDMA would probably turn OP into Lord of the Club for the evening, but if he's Lord of the Club every day and night, his neurotransmitters get fucked to hell and back and he dies.

Idk why this got downvoted. Children are generally neglected/abused whether physically, emotionally, or psychologically in the West and I think that plays a role in the screen obsessed generation. Their experiences of face to face contact primarily include getting yelled at, shamed, scolded, and beaten. Is it really surprising they want to avoid that, when they can get online and find any echo chamber they want? (whether that chamber be for the better or worse)

Probably, but look at how most government programs and efforts have gone in the past. The U.S. government is largely and grossly incompetent. Part of people's fear of government is in the illusion of government's capacity to handle things they wish to handle/silence dissent/etc... How many governments have successfully achieved that?

Yeah people jump against the gluten bandwagon with the worst non-arguments imaginable. There are other gluten sensitivities out there, and there's also the gut microbiome, which high-carb/gluten/glycemic foods tend to wreak havoc on. This. You procrastinate because by not trying you won't feel the pain of your effort being good enough. It's a survival strategy you probably learned to adopt somewhere in childhood. OP, just be aware of your self talk and when the procrastination comes up, tell it that what is doing, while well intended, is actually leading to a much more detrimental result in the long run.

The second text you sent was you repeating goodnight, which you already said. You said you "got" needy, implying you weren't before. I'd wager that's not true. I think that you have a unfulfilled need for female intimacy. Then that neediness overtakes you and desperately claws to get the affection. But that doesn't work and then you berate the neediness inspite of the fact that it was ONLY trying to help you. I'd just put soft next on this girl for a bit.
