Stop grading yourself on where you want to be. Grade yourself on where you are and your current abilities. I hear you. I still deserve a 1/10 due to lack of effort on my part. I really can (and should) do better. So you admit your position is "jaded" (that is, incorrect) and then justify your laziness using your position. Yuck. I see your point, but I still maintain the cost-benefit risk-reward belief that I have mentioned previously. Everyone does this calculation; my math keeps coming up as a …

Sleep is on point. Diet is on point. New workout is a killer. And awesome. Excellent work! A good starting point coming out of the holiday season and into the new year. Haven't been keeping a budget. Time to nail this down. Me too, bro. Care to elaborate on your plan to get this done? I think I am going to start by re-reading The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey and making an excel sheet budget. I may even consider living out of a bus If you are serious about this, consider the cost and resou…

I'm going to create a specific plan for the week of which I read the Bible You've probably heard this before, but Chuck's bible reading plan has been incredibly helpful for me. It's about 3 chapters/day, and it gives me something to track my progress by.

OYS #9 STATS: 26yo, 5'8", 160 lbs Reading: Sidebar (finished 100s & starting 200s), NMMNG (audiobook), Mere Christianity, and the Bible MISSION: My mission is to glorify God by serving, encouraging, and building up those around me. I endeavor to become a stronger (physically, mentally, and spiritually) man in order to provide a more sturdy shoulder for others to lean on. I am still not happy with this mission statement. I think I will pursue the things I am passionate about (building vehicles an…

OYS (Get back on the horse!) #6 STATS: Marital Status: Single Age: 26 Height: 5'8" Weight: 160 lbs Reading: Sidebar items under "Post Series" I read a little more after my last OYS, but have not made progress in a while. MISSION: My mission is to glorify God by serving, encouraging, and building up those around me. To that end, I am forming relationships and joining a local church to open up opportunities to fulfill my mission. I am seeking more avenues to serve, build relationships, and develop…

This isn't a "no time" issue. It's a "not as high a priority to me as other things" issue. Good point! I'll make some progress on it this week. Back to Scripture to figure out why God created you. My understanding is that God created me for his own glory, but making disciples is a part of that. I should review the sidebar, as it probably elaborates on this. This is a discord bot-worthy quote, btw! Mind sharing your/OtA's PT for that? What is an OtA? In addition to stretching, walking, and icing,…

About two years ago, I hit a real low spot. I dropped out of grad school, girlfriend dumped me, and I couldn't get a job. I was in despair, surrounded by monuments to my own failures, and felt like God was grinding me into the pavement with his bootheel. I want to share some verses/lessons that I came across as God brought me out of that state. 1) Romans 8:1-2 - "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life has set you free in Christ…

OYS (Grab your Stuff by the Horns) #5 STATS: Marital Status: Single Age: 26 Height: 5'8" Weight: 160 lbs Reading: Sidebar items under "Post Series" Still no progress here. It's hard to make time for reading when I'm not in a deerstand. MISSION: My mission is to glorify God by serving, encouraging, and building up those around me. To that end, I am forming relationships and joining a local church to open up opportunities to fulfill my mission. I am seeking more avenues to serve, build relationshi…

Go on the website for your insurance, they should have a link to "Find A Provider" or something similar where you will find a list of providers there (if you can't find it, call and ask because it may be a separate website). Underneath each provider it should say whether they are accepting new patients or not. This is pretty much what I have been doing besides asking for recommendations from locals. I am currently on two different waiting lists; the population in my city is growing rapidly which…

Thanks for the advice, Chuck! I'm gonna tag u/OrlandoTheAxe, he may have some advice since he's been dealing with one as well. I will recommend trying an MSM supplement for the pain. Are you stretching? I know that guy! He will share his routine with me this weekend. I usually stretch before I exercise on MWF, but perhaps I should be doing it every day. I'm sure there are free resources online that you can use as a refresher for some of the things you've forgotten. This feels more like a mental …

OYS (Own Your Self) #1 BACKGROUND Since this is my first OYS, I will tell you a little about myself. I was raised in an active PCA church and became a Christian in elementary school. I was first exposed to porn and masturbation around 14 years old, and have struggled with both since (especially the latter). I had a girlfriend in high school (~16 years old) and another one a little over two years ago. During college, I backslid significantly and my PMO struggle kicked up a few notches. I made my …

I agree that it would also be wrong to force pastors/congregation leaders to go if those pastors/congregation leaders do not choose to accept the risk. My main point is that people should be allowed to make their own decisions on how to move forward. The church can meet the needs of the many without crippling itself for the sake of a few.

In my opinion, churches should leave the decision to come to church to the people. Open the churches and let those who wish to accept the risk attend. Provide other options (like livestreamed services) for those who wish to remain at home.
