In this context she changed as a person (in more ways than stipulated above), but yeah societal norms and the like definitely factored into that. I fucked up by throwing all my chips on the table, I suppose.

I wish more girls had this mentality. But as you said, it's your life and you do what makes you happy. The last girl I was with I thought I was gonna marry and go all the way with. She shared most (if not all) of your views. But she's changed, or maybe society and the norms you speak of changed her. Now it's just a free for all and nothing to do with it "meaning something".

Noticed a lot of people in this post saying "don't shoot your shot to a girl at work", and generally speaking I'd say this is sound advice. I think you need to approach every situation differently and gauge it. Yes oftentimes they need to be nice at work, but the last girl who's number I got worked at the local liquor store and it went from casual "how are you doing" to having serious discussions about the pandemic, ethics, life etc. By the end of it I went for it.
