If they had decided to go for a quantitative analysis with a sample like that I would have agreed, but qualitative analysis can produce relevant results with compareable small samples. I'm not a big fan of qualitative analysis because it has its problems, but you will never get a sample that is anywhere near the size you're asking for (there simply aren't enough people convicted of rape) so it's the best option in this case.

No, it's not. a sentencing hearing date is slated to be set next week I can see where they're coming from, though - the daughter and the mother accused each other, she was strongly intoxicated when she killed him, and the police work appears to have been sub-par as well (they didn't find the knife the first time they were there). You know what? I agree that you're right about 16 and 17 year olds being able to give consent and aren't victimized by consentual sex, but this goes for boys and girls. The article implies that all rape victims belong to an enlightend social group in which they would not be considered to be "devalued" by being raped. This might be the case for a lot of women, but what about those living in subcultures where this is still the case?
