Take a look at what’s happening in Ireland, Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US. He should avoid such people, yes, but let’s not pretend the hate isn’t real.

If you’re not living in a western country, I don’t see any reason to be concerned with the dating lives of western women. Keep in mind that all the current hate directed to South Asian people in the west is rooted in xenophobia first and foremost. It’s not from misogynistic cultural practices. It’s not from economic pressures. Those are just secondary reasons tacked on to rationalize the xenophobia. If South Asia became a bastion of women’s rights overnight, the same people hating South Asians i…

While I agree that it’s important to treat people as individuals, it’s going to be a lot more challenging to do when you’re in the demographic currently being targeted. These aren’t just mean words on the internet anymore. Just last week, there were two Indian men beaten bloody and racially abused in broad daylight in the west. Safety comes first.

I am a little older than you, but in the same boat. The online hate has increased exponentially since 2020. It’s not just straight men, I have gay/bi brown men as friends who are also struggling on the apps. The apps suck for a myriad of other reasons, and racism is yet another reason. I’ve seen racism against Indians even on the hinge subreddit. Meeting people irl may be a better option, and the desi community has a strong in-group bias that helps in our favor for dating. Also, remember that be…
