She read his thoughts and saw that, so she pushed him to accept and admit what he already was. Do you still go on dates, so there's a reason for her to dress up and put on makeup? The time to have left was years ago, now you are so intertwined it is much more complicated. I think you should seek marriage counseling to try and get to a better place.
