The problem is, there needs to be a person who would decided who is and is not worthy of an appeal in that scenario. The idea that a judge or other figure of authority could say "you are sentenced to death without the possibility if appeal" is terrifying. In the cases where it isn't obvious to everyone, the families affected would still be calling for death without appeal. There would still be pressures to give the toughest possible sentence. People don't always care whether it's clear cut or no…

A lethal injection only costs 90 bucks. We'd have to throw out the current legal process that is in place to try and prevent innocent people from being killed by the state if they're wrongly convicted.

That proof that it was a lie is usually in the dorm of a confession, I.e the accuser gets guilty and says it was all made up. Wouldn't this deter people who have made false accusations from coming forward and keep innocent people in jail?

There isn't one, and as much as I don't like it, it makes a lot of sense. The only way people could really be charged with it is if they confessed. That confession is often necessary to get an innocent person out of jail. To deter someone from coming out and admitting they made a false accusation would probably cause more problems than a false accusation penalty would solve. Civil action can be taking though.
