They specifically allow misandry. And you violated the rule for calling them out. Rule 2: "Do not accuse others of “misandry” in response to civil comments. Do not defend quirkyboy memes by purposefully ignoring/denying its intention and implications. Do not make arguments such as "the meme never specifically said ALL women, just women" to defend quirkyboy memes. Do not make arguments such as “but it’s not ALL men” when such a phrase is used in response to these memes." There is a time and a pla…

Thank you for sharing this. I hate that this reddit rejects anything suggesting people make efforts to fix their problems despite have some societal roadblocks.

While I see where you are coming from about pride month and to each their own, what you are describing is not the point for most people. Pride is about being able to be *not ashamed* (aka "proud") of being gay. Through most of US history and even today by many, it was seen as something shameful. I and many people I know where raised in religious households where being gay was seen as shameful and it's a challenge to walk with your head held high when you were told your whole life something is ev…

Treating genders equally=bad now? Lol. This place would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.

Feminism is criticized all the time. There are many forms of feminism which disagree with each other too. The problem isn't criticism of feminism, it is criticizing it without other valid alternatives. If you're only offering criticism how are you being any different than those who seek to keep inequality of the genders?

I think an issues is that historically feminism has been so attacked, if you’re not careful, you appear to be one of the many. I used to think the idea of “dog whistles” was about as stupid as they come, then I saw so many examples of it where those people started saying “the silent thing out loud” Now I avoid speech that could be construed as supporting evil people. Mostly to the bigots don’t assume I’m with them….

It's facing reality and not living in some ideology that doesn't actually exist. The reality is that I'm scary to some people. Am I obligated to change myself? I'd say hell no personally, though some may disagree. However if I want to be kind and empathetic to others, why the hell not? But you are free to live in the fantasy that everything in the world is perfect and you should treat the world around you as if there are no societal problems...

I had no idea until my LGBTQ+ teen was telling me about the types of people his community see as scary. Well that's me (tall big white cis-het looking male). So I started wearing pride pins, heart glasses, and since then, people approach me all the time where before I just thought they "minded their own business". You can't fix everyone, but you can take steps to make yourself be seen as someone who is safe rather than a potential danger.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
