I’m ok. Keeping myself busy doing things I need to do.

I just lost my Mom last week to Covid. First, I did the things I NEED to do (arrangements, day to day necessities) because life goes on. 2nd, I spent a little more time doing things I enjoy, because life is too short not to. Have I thought about her some, sure. By keeping myself occupied, it keeps me from dwelling on the negative, and moving forward which is what I need to do. It doesn’t mean you don’t love or miss your relative, you just have to handle your business like an adult.

IDGAF if they talk behind my back. I’m too busy handling my own shit to care.

I would place loyalty and trust at the top of any list. Then emotional well being, compassion, good communicator and the ability to take care of business when needed.

Ignoring her comments is the same as acceptance. You CANNOT allow this to go unchecked. You need to be firm in the handling of your MIL. A very clear I don't tell you how to run your house, and you WILL NOT tell me how to run mine is in order here. Are you the king of your castle, or is your MIL?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
