I say this with brotherly love and experience. The person she was getting attention from is no longer giving her attention. So you’re option 2 or 3. Once you let her back in, she’s going to get comfortable and seek out the attention of other men because why not? You’re always going to let her back into your life anyway. Move on with your life. She’s already shown you how she is. Learn your lesson now. Don’t wait until you’ve thrown away 5 or 10 years of your life before coming to your senses. Ge…

A peaceful, non-toxic home. No compromising with anyone. Don’t have to share a space (no more cohabitating). If I want something I just get it. My idea of a vacation is sitting in the middle of nowhere in Iceland in the dead of winter trying to photograph a starry night for a few hours. Very few people would consider that fun. My ex certainly would not. I’m at peace in my own skin and I work on trying to better myself, whatever that looks like. Getting a divorce was probably one of the best deci…

I’ve been where you’re at. And there’s no magic pill or quick fix to your current predicament. The time it takes to resolve is the time it takes to resolve it. Your path might be 3 steps forward, 1 step back. But it does get better. Aside from caring for your child, don’t occupy your thoughts with anyone else, but you. Focus on yourself getting better, join a gym or MA studio. Exhaust yourself there so you’re not using your energy to sulk, bc that could be draining. Plus, the more you exercise, …

When I looked at her during marriage counseling (trying to navigate reconciliation after her infidelity) and said, “I don’t want you to be the mother of my children.” That was it. Soon after we filed the papers.

If you stay for the kids, you’re teaching your kids that it’s okay to cheat in a marriage as long as there are no consequences and that the betrayed spouse is okay with being a doormat, because his feelings, mental health, and emotional health doesn’t matter. You can still be a father to your kids without the cheating wife.

Depends on how they feel they’ve been treated during the marriage. Doesn’t matter how we think we see it. Their emotions are valid to them and that is what matters to them. Same goes if the shoe was on the other foot. If we as men felt mistreated by our spouse, then we don’t need our spouse to validate our feelings. Can most issues be resolved? Maybe. Though I’d argue it’s next to near impossible with infidelity. Does it suck when you have children? Of course, but having children should not be t…

To be fair, I would find hotel-beach-restaurant vacationing an absolute bore, myself. I could be wrong, but I think you’re looking for something that ignites your soul. But to each their own. It boils down to what makes you happy. Oftentimes, we won’t know what that is until we try it. In regards to exercise, it’s always challenging when you first start. The more you do, the more the activity becomes tolerable and fun. But again, do what makes you happy and healthy.

Gym, jiu jitsu, boxing, skiing, snowboarding, scuba diving, photography, a new car, make over, yoga… I would give traveling another shot. It can easily be one of the most fun things you can spend money on. Maybe you haven’t found a fun place or activity to do…. There’s Rwanda or Uganda to see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, Iceland, Antarctica, jungle trekking in Thailand, exploring Japan, many locations in the U.S…. sometimes simply getting out of your comfort zone will work wonders…

You know, some people lose the love of their lives in accidents, some people lose limbs in combat, some people lose their high paying jobs or lose homes, some people don’t have enough saved for retirement, etc, etc. Not to downplay what you may be feeling, but we all have to deal with the uncomfortable cards we’ve been dealt in life. We have a choice to linger in those feelings or take the steps necessary to get out of our funk. That process, that journey can be uncomfortable as well. There are …

Per your story, your ex comes off as pretty selfish and self-centered. It seems the major reasons she wants to reconnect is because she and her guy aren’t getting along, she is getting older and probably is not as “marketable”, and sees you as “Mr. Dependable and Reliable”, because her guy probably isn’t. This is her imposing her will and control over you (yet again) and she may expect you to fold to her requests because you’ve done it before. I may be all wrong. But as someone else mentioned, t…

Divorced. No kids. To get out of depression I sought therapy and took up CrossFit. Both got me out of depression. I started traveling more. Engaged in hobbies I had put to the side. The divorce process will be challenging/difficult to cope with at first. But most likely you’ll be better off. Being in a toxic relationship is incredibly detrimental to who you are. And the only way to stop that from continuing is to sever the relationship and start getting healthy for yourself. Take care of your children. Take care of yourself. Being alone doesn’t mean being lonely. Believe me, it is much better to be alone than feel lonely in a toxic relationship.

If marrying, protect yourself with a solid prenup (but sometimes that doesn’t help). It’s better (a lot better) to not marry at all. You can still be in love with someone and have children without the legal stipulations of marriage that, today, will rarely work in your favor should you get a divorce. Marriage is overrated.

Turn that pain into productive physical energy. Join a CrossFit gym and push yourself beyond your perceived limits. Understand that you are going to suffer physically, but you’ll be getting stronger, healthier, and more fit in the process. Your body and emotions are already going through the pain of separation. Might as well suffer through the pain of working out, too. Embrace the suck. You will come out of this better than your yesterday.
