So what got me was I yelled it at her, and used a loud and boisterous tone. Which then she stated she felt scared and threatened and that is the disorderly conduct, it is a catch all. Even thought I didn’t actually threaten her life, etc. I still made her “fearful” as she stated. Yet she was never afraid of me, but my lawyer was the best in my area, he’s defended and won against cases with some real shit bags. But bc she had me recorded and said she felt that way, I couldn’t risk a found guilty …

Thanks for your advice, I do appreciate it. I am also in a one party state, so that’s how she was able to “get me” with her recording. Sucks. I made a mistake, and am paying for it. In the end too, I had to get rid of my dog to get the kids back. My ex lied and said he would traumatized our daughter because he barks. He was a 12lb mutt. But kids come first, I had to do what I had to in order to get them back. As when I was arrested, DCYF immediately opens a case to investigate. It took them 2.5 …

Thank you. Yes. She wanted control and she got it during the divorce. I made a mistake yelling at her and it was a very traumatic and expensive one.

I appreciate the words man. I’m paying over $30k a year on child and daycare, I can’t get out of this hole. If I get a second job, she’ll just get more money from me. I love my kids and want to see them all the time, but she is a terrible person. We had everything agreed to in mediation, equal custody, no child support, etc. she actually was going to make out with a lot more. We were done and drafts to our lawyers. And then 3 days later she called the cops and I was removed from the house in han…

Thanks for the info, my state, RI is definitely a mother state based on that link. Appreciate the advice and I have been subject to how “unfair” the courts are to good fathers. But life isn’t fair. Thanks again.

Thank you for that advice. I appreciate it. I will definitely do that and keep the days I have as if I start forgoing days I have them in order to work a second job, she will use that against me.

Yeah. I hope to never be in this situation again. I just want to find peace and happiness. Right now I have some females trying to date me and I’m just not ready. I’m honest with them. I also don’t tell many people my situation, it’s embarrassing. Unfortunately, I live in the same city I work for. So when I was arrested, the mayor knew within 30 minutes of me being in handcuffs. I was lucky to not lose my job. I need to be happy with myself and right now, I’m not. My mind isn’t focused enough on…

That’s all it took. I was legit shocked. Granted I shouldn’t have yelled but it was an highly Emotional time and to add her demanding me get rid of our dog. I just had a lapse in judgment and yelled at her. And as a dv charge, if found guilty I’d have a 3 year NCO against me, take 6 months of batterers course and have it on my record. I would have been more screwed. I took the plea.

If you say it loud enough, it sure will. I didn’t even threaten her. I have the audio. It was used as evidence. Just said “fuck” two times.

Unfortunately, the divorce process went on for over a year and in this great State, the judges don’t want any divorce going over a year. They will automatically set a trial. And since I had plead in criminal court (had no choice since she had me on audio using aloud and boisterous tone) I would have been found guilty of a dv charge. So I plead to a non-domestic disorderly conduct, with a one year filing and a one year NCO. The judges don’t give a single care as to how, what or why you have an NC…

She said when asked, I watched the body camera footage from the police after, she told them she “felt scared and threatened” that’s what “they” told her in order to get a NCO and she wanted me arrested. The cop was like “ok” and told me to turn around. Around here, northeast state, they don’t mess around with anything domestic. They arrest you and let the courts figure it out. Add in the body cameras the cops wear, there is no room for them to use discretion

I was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct. Not anything physical occurred and this was the first time I had ever been in trouble. Don’t even have a speeding ticket on my record. Cops have never been called to the house by either of us or anyone else.

So in my state, 50/50 will bring the child support to her paying me $200 a month. Which I forgoed in mediation. I didn’t want her money. I just wanted to move on with my life. My ex and I both work full time government jobs, we both have standard workdays and she actually makes more than me.

We were together over 10 years, married for 6. I have a 5yr old daughter and 2 year old son. She blindsided me with divorce when my son was 6 months old. She wanted everything monetary, all I wanted was equal legal and physical custody. She fought it, but couldn’t give me a reason why. You can’t say, child support as a reason obviously. Well she finally agreed and our final mediation agree was sent to our lawyers on a Wednesday. 3 days later I was in handcuffs. She started a fight and recorded t…

The best part, is she “allows” me to have our children 6 days out of 14 days. Just under half and that day less costs me 2600 in child supports month.

Thank you, I’m definitely going to look into the grey rock and parallel parenting. She still thinks she has control over me. She’ll send massive texts to my mother just to try and control me and make me do what she wants and she’s the only parent. In a way, she does have control over my mind still, so that has to stop. Something I have to work on.

My therapist brought up a point to this. She asked if I hated my ex, or myself more because I allowed her into my life, trust her with everything and she still stabbed me in the back. The reality is, I hate myself. So that’s been on the way out by focusing on my health, family, kids, etc. I want to be around for a long time for them. And co parent the best I can with someone who is determined to make me fit her narrative so I can’t get her any ammo

I appreciate it man. Luckily, I have a therapist I’ve been with to get through it. It’s been hard but just keeping my head above water. Kept me though some dark times when I wasn’t able to see or speak to my kids. When I finally got them back, my 6 month old, this point 8 months, didn’t recognize me. That hurt. But it’s been a year now and things are getting better. It’s just now the NCO will be over and there is no buffer between us. I now know what she is capable of….

Exactly! My ex didn’t want to me to get a dime from her retirement yet she wanted her half of a house she didn’t buy. I wanted the children 50/50 so I just agreed to forgo retirement accounts in mediation. Well few weeks later she called and had me arrested for false dv allegations. That’s been a fight in itself but I went after her retirement and got $53k. Take whatever you can’t get because they’ll fuck you over any chance they can.

I had to give him to a new family. Either that or shelter. We were together for 9 years and had him for a little over 8 years. She said “he wasn’t her dog” and then lied to cps and said he was a threat to our kids. CPS said that he could not be with the children. He did nothing. I couldn’t fight it or I’d never be able to see my kids. It was heartbreaking. They believed her with no question as my daughter was afraid of his barking, he rarely barked but she’s 4 and was scared when he did. I would…

I haven’t seen that show but I’ll check it out. And thanks about the dog. I was lucky enough to find him a home. He’s had some trouble adjusting but I mean we had him over 8 years and he’s almost 10. Besides losing all access to the kids for those 8 weeks, he was the only one there when I got home everyday. Now I come home to nothing, the silence of the house is deafening.

Still have not got over the fact that I feel like I failed. Failed marriage, failed my kids, failed the dog and even failed myself. I’m in therapy but it’s rough. But my kids are worth the fight.

After being blindsided by divorce and having her live under the same roof for 2 months, 1 week before she was moving out and after relentless tries to get a rise out of me, she started a verbal argument and then recorded the audio of me yelling at her. No threats were made, I yelled that I fucking hated her and couldn’t wait until she was gone. I tried to leave the house and she was blocking me, and I was trying to get around her. She called the cops, lied that I “pushed her with my body” and sh…

Since I was arrested in late August, I lost my ability to see or speak to my children while cps investigated me, which came back 100% unfounded allegations. I began seeing my children in late October, 3 days a week unsupervised. In those 2 months I could not see them, daycare informed me that my son, almost 1, was showing symptoms of having seizures during the day. They told my wife every time it happened, almost daily, for months , it is all documented by daycare. My wife did nothing. It wasn’t…

Our marriage of 8 years, began to deteriorate over the years, I think alot has to do with our two back to back late term loses. When she filed for divorce I was shocked, but my response was, I want you to be happy even if we aren’t together. We will focus on the children. As the weeks of living together went on, she made it clear she didn’t want to split the children’s time 50/50. She wanted more. She gave absolutely no reasoning why. In mediation we agreed to 50:50 legal and physical custody….e…

Make sense. Thanks for advice! In regard to me being assaulted, I’m not planning or even think it would go down the criminal path as it wasn’t reported then and it’s from a year ago. I hope to use it as yo show a pattern, in family court, as she is trying to paint me as an unfit parent which she knows is not true and that she isn’t some innocent victim and I’m some raging asshole. Thanks for the info. It’s either that or some postpartum. She blindsided me that she filed for divorce and I was to be served the next day, at the end of this last June. We lost two late term pregnancies between our two children, I don’t think ever recovered…and I definitely believe she resents me due to me not grieving the way she expected me too…I’m more of the “I’ll never forget them, but we have to move forward and focus on our living children”. I’ll put that one my list to ask my lawyer tomorrow! My stbxw is putting me through a lot of hurdles. All I want is equal time with my children. People always say “the guy doesn’t want to pay child support” I mean who does? If we split 50/50, my wife makes more money than I do and would have to pay me, I declined and said I don’t need her money. We both make a good living. But with all the bullshit she’s put me through already, I’m taking whatever I am due. When I watch the body camera footage, …

Oh yes, I was prosecuted by the State. And the video/audio captured me saying “get your hands off of me, don’t touch me”. But the cops didn’t give a shit. But I have it all saved. Unfortunately, it didn’t help me from being charged as I did yell at her and she called the police and said she was afraid. But the prosecutor did drop all the domestic violence charges, and brought the charges to a non-domestic disorderly conduct. But since I yelled and used a boisterous and tumultuous tone, she got m…

I appreciate that effort! As long as I have enough to make it obvious to the judge or even her lawyer, if we go to trial, she’s not as innocent as she claims to be. Same with the domestic violence charges being dropped. They didn’t do that because they liked me…unfortunately I was recorded yelling. Which is mind boggling that it is enough to be charged with disorderly conduct but it is what it is. Hopefully after I talk to my family lawyer tomorrow she has some good news. I just want to move on …

You’re probably right. I can’t change it now. Sucks. I just hope it doesn’t screw me too Much in family court and I hope I can bring in my evidence that my ex had a plan and I fell for it. Luckily it will only be on my record for a year, granted I stay out of any trouble, and it goes away. I’ll talk to my lawyer tomorrow and get a better idea on how to proceed. That sucks it happened to you too. And our next family court hearing is mid January. Unfortunately with the criminal case, I forgot I even had saved this clip as it was a year ago. But when I was going through to collect any evidence that could help my family court case, I found it. What made me save this clip from a year ago still baffles me. I’m sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately, in my case, since the recording of me using a “tumultuous” behavior, and RI is a one party state and it was entered as evidence, I am not a gambling man and the potential guilty conviction would have been a lot worse for me. I went with the advice of my lawyer. He has been doing this for a very long time 25+ years and he told me, the evidence was too damning. Since I was arrested and charged with dv, the family court case was paused as I couldn’t plead my case in family court incase I incriminated myself. Now that the criminal charges are “settled”, I can focus on family court. We had a final draft of our entire MOU including parenting plan sent to our lawyers days before the incident. She got buyers remorse and wanted control, unfortunately she has it right now, temporarily. At first I did feel that way in regards to my criminal trial about the plea…

Definitely keep your cool! Do whatever you can! Me and my stbxw got into a verbal argument and she called the cops. Made up some bullshit that I “pushed” her with my body. I ended up in handcuffs charged with domestic assault and disorderly conduct and haven’t been able to see my two little children in 8 weeks. It has been miserable. And has become very expensive fighting the charges.

I’m sorry to hear that happened to you man. Idk why the system meant to help people is abused. But that’s the million dollar question. When my ex called the police, and told them complete over exaggerated bullshit and had me arrested. I could have lost my job, I live in and work for the same city I was arrested by. Luckily my job is safe. But as I sat in the holding cell for almost 5 hours while the JP finished his bbq lunch, all I could think about is how fucked I was. She didn’t care.

That’s my fear, my 4 year old daughter watched the cops come. She watched me being interviewed, my wife kept her by her side as she told the police how “bad” I was and how scared she was. Luckily, my neighbor took my daughter to their house so she didn’t see me being put in handcuffs. But when she came back, I was gone. Who knows what my stbxw is telling her. CPS only contacted me once, and they knew I was going through a divorce. I have two attorneys now, a criminal attorney and a family attorney. Both were highly recommended and have proven track records. They weren’t cheap, but my children are worth every penny I need to spend. They both gave me the “OK” to talk to the CPS investigator. So crazy! I don’t understand why this is a “go to” for people. It ruins lives, hurts children, and takes advantage of a system that should be helping the real victims. The body camera footage was appalling, and if the cops did their job and a simple investigation, they would have seen, in my situation is was all BS.
