Relying on filters and settings is a backup for supervision. The usually recommended screen time for an 8 year old is 1.5 - 2 hours a day. You just take it away once they've been on it enough for the day. You can decide when it's appropriate in your household, or "just say no" to screens.. but in all likelihood you're already letting him on the internet through youtube apps and whatnot on your smart TV's. You should look into one of the many DNS filter providers, many of them are free. I used to…

For sure, you'll be able to make a clean separation and move on with your life soon enough. Sleep deprivation sucks, and is such a cruel thing to do. As a special treat, there's a good chance you'll find out you were the one depriving her of sleep, soon enough. Talk to a lawyer ASAP, you can probably get out of there pretty quickly without much fear.

Not a myth - entirely has to do with child custody, though. My lawyer got emergency custody arrangements filed within days. As always, talk to a lawyer. Abandoning the home without documented arrangements for custody is a difficult uphill battle to claw back custody, winding up with men seeing their children substantially less often, for years. Meanwhile they pump thousands of dollars into the legal system hoping for more time.

Hey man, I see you deleted the post after reading this comment. On the off chance that you see this, feel free to DM me if you need someone to talk to. A lot of us have been through this stuff. It sucks, and you're gonna feel all of the emotions... but you've gotta try to keep your head on your shoulders. Good luck, internet dude.

You really can't dictate how he runs his house, unfortunately, It's one of the painful parts of divorce. You have absolutely no control or ability to "shut him down", and any attempts are only going to limit your own relationship with your own children. You can try to have a rational calm conversation with your ex-wife about his behavior around your kids, but acting like a child and trying to 'out flex' him so everyone thinks you're the "REAL BOSS" isn't going to work out. Most men have that fle…

You certainly don't have the 'authority' to step foot on his property, I'm not sure why you're worried about being the "REAL BOSS".. Your ex-wife has inserted a new father figure in your children's lives. You get to demonstrate how you're the calm, stable household.. or that you're the guy that throws temper tantrums because some other man doesn't consider you his "REAL BOSS". Deciding to get violent is going to permanently damage your relationship with your children, and your custody. Focus on …

You've spent $100k on lawyers and haven't even gotten custody arrangements sorted? My man, it sounds like you need a new lawyer. My lawyer had an emergency custody arrangement filed with the courts within a week of filing for divorce. If she had the ability to take away visitation without facing repercussions with the courts, your lawyer is missing the mark. Refusing to let you see your children is not parental alienation, it's parental kidnapping if you've filed the right paperwork. Being torn …

>The courts wanted to put sanctions on her parenting because of her arrest history from prior relationships so that was a kicker too I'm just referencing what you said, I'm not sure.. I do know court ordered demands on peoples behaviors rarely goes well.

Interesting. I did google that the last time around, and all the links are purple, so not many people are talking about it. You didn't comment on my other points, so I'm guessing your sadly clinging to this 6% possibility. There's better people out there, that won't treat you like crap for not being abusive and reckless. If her drunk driving lead to your divorce, I'm gonna guess it wasn't an isolated occurrence. Think about how your daughter will feel seeing her father mistreated. Think about he…

I googled pretty hard and couldn't find your unbelievably high statistic. I did see people that remarry have a 70% chance of divorce, but that's not to the same person. I could find that 6% of people remarry the same partner, but no statistics revolving around that marriage. I think you misread something somewhere, that number seems unreasonably high.. and exactly the inverse of 2nd marriages in general. Your ex walked all over you, and is likely bringing the kind of "exciting" man that abuses h…

>Looking back, throughout our entire 17 years together/ 15 married, any time I was disrespected and fucked over along the way (cheating twice, countless lies about spending) and had the audacity to call her on it-she’d deny them -I’d get angry and yell. All justification in her story that I was the narcissistic bad guy. Are you me?! 😂 I only started digging into what a narcissist was because I kept getting called one whenever I tried to talk to her about her awful behavior, that she'd deny even …

I'm sorry you've had poor examples in your life, but that's an extremely pessimistic outlook of men as a whole. I've raised a young man that I love just as much as his little brother, and have been more of a father to him than his sorry excuse of a sperm donor ever has. If you want to accuse me of gaslighting because I love my children, that's your prerogative.

While he is not their biological father, he is a father figure. Your kids will have many father figures throughout their lives if they're lucky. Coaches, teachers, and yes, even step-parents. All of these people will require respect, and they will receive various forms of discipline from them if they don't provide it. You're not teaching your kids how to navigate handling authority figures by your actions. They have to live with this guy, maybe try to figure out how to make that a less shitty si…

He's a father figure in your kids life, whether you like it or not. The fact that they own a house together means they're pretty much husband and wife in every sense besides the certificate. A judge might be understanding and put some impossible to enforce timelines (months) on introducing new partners when your first finalizing your divorce, but it sounds like you're pretty far past that. Now if the punishing is going past the line to abuse that's a whole 'nother story.. but it is what it is if…

The longer I'm single, the more I feel like it's going to be this way forever. After my divorce was finalized, I dated a childless woman for about a year before she tried to get me to move to the other side of the country away from my children. The childless women seemingly want you to be a deadbeat dad, while simultaneously wanting to date guys that are good fathers. It's apparent in the post OP linked. Having 50% custody is a red flag, but seeing your kids every other weekend means you're more…
