I agree with your statement that there are biases. My comment is that there is already a shortage of staff (I have seen this first hand) so pressuring a facility to force 50/50 male/female ratio will not work. It would be a catastrophe to put that in place. Advocating for men going into nursing, changing the view of what a nurse is, and to change the culture within nursing would be far more effective. I do not work in a hospital (corrections nurse) so my information might not be 100% correct. That is something that administration would need to answer about billing. What I can say is HIPPA is a powerful law in place. If the patient does not want anyone to know about being in a facility, we shall not release anything.
