I'm not counting, it was simply a question as I see posts about 'n counts' on this sub and didn't know exactly what people meant by it

I think it's a mix of the two - I've always felt more connected to men - be it my dad or my male friends, and don't have the best relationship with my mother. Another reason is, aside from from my partner, I generally dislike extra attention (I'm quite introverted) and when I dress up, I tend to get more attention (because it's a change from how I usually look). I guess the more I dress up the less people will be surprised by it. Thank-you for your advice!

Brilliant point, I'll keep trying to remind myself of this. In reality I am choosing, I'm not being forced in any way - he has merely made the odd suggestion about it here and there and hasn't complained about the things I wear. I just need to catch myself when I enter the cycle of stubbornness. Choosing to please my partner is empowering, this just hasn't seemed to click in my brain yet!

Thanks for the advice - that's a very good point. I suppose in my head I'm still a little stuck in the 'that's not fair, why should I have to change' when that's completely the wrong attitude to have. Thinking of it as a gift is a much more mature way to look at it

Thanks for the advice! I'll try some. I'm only in my early twenties and do prefer shorter dresses, but I know he likes mid-length ones which make me feel kinda frumpy

I think this distinction explains it well, I still have something there subconsciously about how submitting to a man is wrong

Yeah, it's possibly a feeling of shame. I guess it's just something I'll have to slowly get used to before it feels normal

It's less about RPW saying I must wear this type of clothing and more about submitting to my partners desires more. I think my sympathy for feminism makes me feel guilty because feminism has the 'I'm an independent woman and I shouldn't have to change myself for any man' attitude. I'm talking third wave feminism here!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
