Trans man here. The open hostility I experienced from other trans and queer people once I started passing as a man, and the open misandry in general, is why I engage very little anymore with those spaces. It doesn't matter that trans men are more likely to die by suicide, experience DV, SA, and violence in general, more than trans women. We still get hit with "You're privileged," and told to shut up.

I studied sociology in college, and when I learned about the theory that bigotry = power + prejudice, it was taught specifically as one perspective, not as fact, and disagreement was welcome. I agree overall with your post, except for the section about trans men. In my experience, as soon as I started passing, my problems became invisible to the trans community and to the left. Trying to talk about my struggles only ever leads to being mocked, belittled, shut down, and told I have it easy because I supposedly now have "male privilege." Progressive spaces are supportive of trans women. They are more often than not openly hostile to trans men.

As someone who was raised as a woman but now lives and passes as a man, I can say that there are small advantages that men have in some instances and small advantages that women have in others, but they are often blown out of proportion. Something I wish more people understood is that patriarchy does not equal men. The systems we live under do not benefit the overwhelming majority of men. Prior to medically transitioning, I knew it was hard for men to be emotional with others, but I always assumed it was other men who made it difficult. While there are definitely men who shame other men for their emotions, I realized very quicky once I passed as male that it is usually women, and not other men, who dehumanize, belittle, and mock men for being passionate, crying, showing anger, or opening up about their trauma.

I could be wrong, but I think the intention behind posts like that is to draw attention to how even when women were barred from education and most workplaces, they still created and contributed in meaningful ways to society. It's usually done to push back against the narrative, which still exists in many places, that women are less smart than men.
