Which is fair, assuming they suck just because they’re women is just as bad. Though, coming to your first point it’s my female friends who are pushing “women suck because they’re women” more lately. They’re tired of all the bullshit. Anything I can say I’ve witnessed first hand will rightfully get a “sure, that happened” as it seems unreal. Some of these women are 60 ffs and still dodge accountability to other women. Worse, they literally expect they can take someone else’s work and then get unh…

There’s far far far too much “he raped me but he’s hot, rich and powerful so it’s okay” media. That shit gets lapped up and not even just by older women either. It’s one of my pet peeves when reading female oriented media tbh. It’s the biggest reason I don’t read more female oriented stories. I actually don’t mind reading them and usually enjoy them if they are light on sexual themes. The second that comes into play… well literal porn is less explicit. The amount of abuse escalates to crazy degr…

I got to experience that first part first hand today. I had to stop pity tears with a “crying isn’t going to change the facts”. I then get berated and get excuses and “god will find me a way”. That made me snap. I told her “God sent me. He’s given you a path and you refuse to take it. I’ve showed you multiple options and you find excuses every time” I did what I can and walked away. Consequences don’t even change the result here. Consequences are to be dealt with by someone else.

I think you’re going to need to bring out some citations please. Especially when painting with the broad strokes you’d have to consider when creating policy. I definitely agree on the existence of outliers. Men ironically create more outliers too. But, when looking at something like a draft you look at averages not out outliers. Pull out some sources and prove us wrong! It would be seriously fascinating to see the stuff you’re talking about. I don’t say this to shut you down but rather, let me s…

Thanks to the both of you for explaining why a draft would be unpopular for the military as well. Not something I’ve actually considered as someone that never served.

I find some value in it in terms of finding a partner. Someone that’s actually worth going through life with together. But, I’m perfectly content without that. If I find that I’ll be happy but I’m not going to cry if I don’t. Would like a family but not going to put myself at risk to make it happen.

I actually disagree with that 🙂 Lived experiences only help with understanding the direct impact on the bubble you live in. It clouds judgement and creates understandable biases. A fresh set of eyes may miss things of course — as you stated you’re giving things a quick glance over only but it also means you’re likely to spot things others won’t. Diversity of thought is ironically something to look for. Just the implementation tends to be “let’s find people who think in the same way but look diff…

I’m coming from South Africa. I don’t know what corruption is the most prominent to the average Australian. For us it’s easy — Jacob Zuma and alllllllll the shit he’s done and gets away with to this day. You can have the evidence but it doesn’t mean anything when bullshit causes that you never see a day behind bars.
/r/MensRights23/11/25 09:15 AM

Jeeeez. It would be Australia. It’s arguable which of us has more corruption. South Africa is just more open about it. But, the actual issues of criminal elements influencing the government is the exact same. I just wanted to add flavour to your statement. The helpless feeling is genuinely challenging on both sides. There’s a lot that’s still better that side no question but it’s really “for how long”. At least, that’s how it feels based on my own lacking understanding of the nuances your end. I…

Not sure what country you’re from but South Africa gets a completely corrupt police and judicial system on top of everything else. If paying the right people can make things disappear or worse… things disappear unintentionally because of shit service then what can you do?

For all the hot air around gbv I really don’t see any progress. An actual abuser can’t be denied access to their child. Physical documented abuse, sometimes even with them having served a sentence for their abuse, still has men being entitled to time with their child. It has gotten kids killed and will continue to do so. It’s true in reverse too with the same result. If a woman is abusive you’re not getting the kids away from her permanently. You can have all the evidence but nothing is actually…

Thank you. The contrast is very interesting as you said! The men’s aggressors’ group is quite interesting honestly. Thinking out loud I have to wonder the circumstances where “I didn’t do anything wrong” is someone’s response. Cultural norms/family life where this was common is one thought. I could see myself in that group quite easily under certain conditions too. If my “abuse” was just defending myself I don’t think I’ll ever budge honestly. At best I’d lie to your face just to get it over and…

It’s genuinely crazy that you’re restricted like that. What’s the men’s side like then? Seems like it could be interesting to contrast! I still think it’s insane that some women think violence against men is okay if they’re frustrated/angry. They do make it difficult to argue against the “women will do anything but be accountable for their actions” stereotype. I only bring that one up as I’ve seen women who know what they’re doing and create an entire culture in that group of “not my fault”. My …

I really love women justifying mental load. In my own experiences it’s genuinely most often “women doesn’t want assistance because nobody does things on the exact exact way she wants” or “nobody else is panicking when I am, I need to handle everything” when in reality someone else is actually getting things sorted for them. I’ll counter the expected “but individual case says it isn’t” those do exist. The issue 100% exists in reality but more often than not, self-reported high mental strain is se…

It’s not bad to come to this realisation. Except for very few people, you matter purely for your contributions. You are replaceable if your contributions are. It’s why individualism is important: if your contributions are part of what makes you, you then it’s harder to replace you and you gain value. Women otoh get intrinsic value for existing. Which, for all the moaning, is the actual height of privilege. A boy isn’t even worth kidnapping and will just be killed as he has no value. Women never …

Would love to hear them tbh. Abusive female provider somehow will walk away with the man’s next children giving her child support too. Female abusers get away with anything. I’m honestly more interested if the above experience was the norm in abusive male provider female circumstances. My honest suspicion is - abusive partner gets away with it more often than not. I don’t think any arguments directly supporting men are going to be successful for a long time. Defeatist? A bit. But, playing at the…

A fun thing I got to witness is something that made me think this is funnily enough not actually gendered. My friend is a woman but she was the provider of the house aaaaand courts treated her as the man basically and pretty much everything that’s complained about here was repeated by her. The current system fucks over the provider. Kid goes to the parent that’s “nurturing” I. E. Stays home and has contact, whether that contact is actually nurturing or not seems to matter fuck all though. The pr…

I really consider this a false equivalence because the right answer is dog. There’s literally nothing a dog could do to break that trust. Unless the dog learns morse and shares it or uses that to judge you or manipulate you the dog is physically incapable of being an issue. You might trust your wife and she may genuinely be an amazing person but if you torture her she may give it up. If you torture the dog you get nothing.

To be honest that’s the second reason for me. The first reason was half the time the feminist talking points were plain and simply either bullshit or reframing what’s actually a stat that’s seriously bad for men and making it about women. They lost me on “feminism is for equality” the second they started making gendered suicide stats about women.

As you stated - with the actual context this shouldn’t be horrifying. Apply the law and you end up there anyway. The alternate form is the thing that the headline says. Zero context, round up homeless people and murder them. I can’t ever agree with that. Some people actually might, I’m not one of them. I just wanted to point out how different this is with context compared to without.
/r/MensRights14/09/25 12:24 PM

The argument from what I could tell still confuses me. Isn’t that just “actually apply the law”? In which case - I do actually agree. Violent murderers should receive the death penalty. As described by this headline? Fuck no. There’s no way in hell that’s ever okay.

A fun challenge is that the typical example used of “lonely male” is normally just a genuinely horrible human. They are separate from those that just don’t want to go out and meet people. I’ll happily argue that some of the male loneliness epidemic is self-inflicted. The important part is to ask why. Why are they choosing to isolate themselves from the world? Whether for romantic relationships or friendships, neither are happening because men rather stay at home and focus on themselves only. I’m…

You’ve never accidentally walked in when someone was focused and made them jump? You’re lucky then. I’m explicitly talking about things exactly like that. Accidents that aren’t even your fault. Just tapping on someone’s shoulder when they’re focused might make them jump. That’s still frightened. Same thing goes for anxious. If they’re worried for any reason, good or bad that counts. You simply taking a bit longer to respond to a text might cause that. But, based on the writing of that question i…

Honestly, if you answer you haven’t you’re a liar. If you’ve never accidentally made a partner jump as you were somewhere unexpected or never had a partner get anxious over something you’re doing then you’re either oblivious or never had a partner for longer than an evening. Technically, taking long to respond can make someone feel anxious so congratulations for now being an emotional abuser. I really hope the questioning was deeper than that because that’s an incredibly loaded question which an…

You really never want a female stalker as a man. The police truly don’t give a fuck and will practically laugh at you when trying to stop things early. You can bring the evidence but nobody is going to bother when you’re a big strong guy reporting a tiny girl for stalking you. That then gets you more worried that if it becomes a self-defence situation that you’re going to be judged based on that. The above scenario unfortunately happened to a friend. It didn’t end after he got stabbed but after …

The thing is… I love good female characters. I couldn’t give a shit about race. Heck, I’ve read stuff from the first person perspective not necessarily even human! Intentionally alien or alien like. That’s honestly the worst part of this to me. It’s not like they’re cracking down on every little thing to where this is now a concern as all other serious crime is handled. They’re worrying about this while allowing atrocities left right and center! The citizenry is literally not allowed to defend themselves to where those that do are given harsher sentences than the perpetrators as, I shit you not, the judge complains that those that defended themselves felt no remorse for their actions and wo…

It’s horrible but I’ve seen it too many times myself. Some woman are bitter and do their utmost best to sabotage everyone else around them so everyone is in the same pile of shit they’re in. The worst is typically when one has a break up and starts bullshit with her friends and puts ideas in their heads so they’re all single after shit goes bad for them. I’d argue a woman can bring a different viewpoint to the table from a man. Though, that has a huge asterisk of “needs to meet basic requirements”. My best friend does - after coming to realise that her fuckups were entirely her fault and changing how she views the world. A lot of things would be different for her now if she did that earlier. Some things wouldn’t have changed though. But, ironically she’s happier now. It would have been better if she never went through some of what she did. Some …

Honestly, it’s horrific what’s tolerated with welfare. Third world country and it’s practically the norm for poorer girls to pop their first one out as they hit 18. Fob it off to their mother and party with the government money. Which isn’t actually enough to do anything with… so they get more by popping more kids out. When they eventually have issues they have 4+ kids and no way to look after them. The 4+ isn’t a joke - I’ve seen a woman with 12 kids at 40. When you add that literally <5% of th…

That counts. It seems the truth is more horrifying than initially proposed by this post. This post is essentially “nobody cares if a man is assaulted” which is bad but one or two things seem to clarify it as not necessarily just that. While that may be the case (I’d need to see how people take men being assaulted by men to confirm it) what definitely does seem to be the case is: “nobody cares if a women SAs someone”. It’s a dangerous game that’s being played. Depending on when the pendulum swings back it could end as badly as some feminists seem to fetishly believe. I can see a world in which the clear bias ends up being used as the pike to stick the head that is women’s rights on. Which I don’t want to see. But, as we are already seeing elsewhere the backlash begins growing and where it ends can easily just be the opposite side of things instead of settling nicely somewhere in the middle. In my view, the on…

I’m really convinced it’s purely because they don’t get the same scrutiny. Amusingly for me I actually think the goal of diverse thought is genuinely not a bad one. Except… that means more often than not really going far instead of racist shit like skin color. Sorry, but when it comes to the work itself, changing the skin color gets you… the same person with a different skin color. See all tech hubs. Of the female managers I’ve got enough experience with to be able to comment on. One absolutely AMAZING one, 2 mediocre and 2 trash. Which is a fine distribution until you compare it to the male ones which is 6 amazing, 2 mediocre and 4 trash. The trash also got shuffled out within a year. Which leads me to the simple conclusion of: female forward policies actually hurt the perspective of women in the workplace by allowing mediocre employees to coast on their gender. It’s easier to demonize people when you don’t think of the horrors involved. It’s easier to demonize people when you don’t think of the horrors inflicted. It horrifies me how little people think about the very real consequences of things. Make noise and not results may as well be the 21st century motto. It’s easier to just let someone else think for you than have your own opinion.

The best solution I’ve seen I first thought was silly then after seeing it work, I hope I can do the same for a partner. The husband earned significantly more than the wife. Even if you give them your wallet/purse you gotta be vigilant that more violence doesn’t start. Acquiescence doesn’t always result in a safe outcome unfortunately. I carry daily. That means my failing at a purely physical intervention can lead to a deadly threat where there was none before. Or I go over the top and become a bigger problem than the existing one. If life was being threatened it’s one thing. But, I’m genuinely sad for this too, it’s not worth the immense drama pain and suffering I’ll go through to stop a simple robbery. Injure someone? I’ve actually seen it argued (not in USA) that as the incident was premeditated that there was a very high probability that the threat was still imminent when fleeing. Which was accepted as a valid reason. Self-defence relies on “reasonableness” here a lot of the time. Imminent threat to life is recognised as a highly stressful scenario which means that when lethal force is deemed necessary its really “were you reasonable in fearing for yours or others lives?” We are not allowed to defend proper…

In places that self defence is actually held to a decent standard that’s literally the rationale you give. Whether it’s stabs or bullets. You continued until the imminent threat to your or other’s life from the unlawful attack is over. Lethal force is acceptable when an imminent lethal threat is present. That doesn’t mean killing necessary. If you pull a gun and they’re obviously fleeing with no intent to return then shooting them would no longer be acceptable as you used your gun and the open h…

Thank you for this. Seriously. I’ve passed it on and am likely to get moaned at but I see your point and why it’s super important. As far as I know - the psychiatrists here won’t even think about it before 13. They still subscribe to (fairly, friend’s younger brother was exactly this) that many hit puberty and “grow out of it”. Was literally about to post this. The bell curve is narrower for women than men. Women are less likely (for any number of reasons, you could argue as a feminist that gender standards help enforce this) to have people on the extremes of intelligence compared to men. The curve for men is wider. So you are more likely to get very high IQ people but you are also more likely to get low IQ.

You definitely aren't wrong there. I got to experience first hand religious extremism of about three different forms (super fundamental, super evangelical, super alternative) and in each case I got to see the dark side of it and ended up dealing with the mess. Thank you evangelical Christians for showing me that anything taken to extremes can be toxic. Blindly following anything just makes you into a sheep. Placing your whole faith into the hands of another person who tells you how to live never…

Honestly, extreme anything tends to be toxic. Extreme liberals or extreme conservatives. The extreme right and left are problematic - just that in current times the extreme left is more popular whereas it used to be the extreme right. Current vocal liberals unfortunately seem to be close to that line or over it. Same with the conservatives too. Unfortunately, today we have the extremes making laws based on their skewed views of the world.

You just probably had bad luck. Gender doesn't matter, we're all pretty terrible no matter what's between our legs! But, it really is nice seeing someone at least willing to point out misandry in their social group. Thank you

Yeah. Where I am rape is a helluva lot more serious. Nauseatingly so - so when I see stuff that's "Oh I just went along with it but I didn't really want it" then going and wanting to put that in the same category as violent forceful rape... I get angry because the two are so far apart that calling them the same thing is intellectually dishonest. The examples where somebody was constantly saying no and yet it still happened - definitely not right - still miles away from the heinousness that appea…

Funnily enough... That actually makes sense. You keep bodily autonomy and still have to live with the consequences. Still find it a disturbing concept though.

Poverty unfortunately ends up being a vicious cycle. Children that need to be supported removing your opportunities. Then at the end of the day they end up suffering from the same things you did and their opportunities are removed as well.

That was pathetic but unfortunately I have to agree in part. A close and dear friend who has been abused back to back by her last five boyfriends had to be told that something has to change. If all of the last five boyfriends hit you then something somewhere has to change. I don't really care if it's her choosing badly or her driving them to abuse or any other possible reason. I just would like to not see my friend continually abused.

Welcome to reddit unfortunately. The rules in a sub like this are different. Admins will ban this sub using arbitrary TOS violations if they get half a chance. So there is a limit to what can be said unfortunately. So if that’s in the TOS then I can understand.

I get your point and agree! I just have not had any good experiences with labels which distorts my views on them.

Good point! Poor choice of words on my part there. The intention wasn't that labels separate into oppressed and not oppressed but that they can be a tool used for oppression in the first place. Edit note: second edit now and still not happy with the wording.
/r/MensRights15/02/18 05:59 AM

Well - labeling people groups them. So now we have cis and trans labels. Trans is seen as oppressed and cis is seen as oppressive. So the oppression olympics have resulted in a lot of non-trans people trying to be non-conforming by conforming and becoming "trans". Which I feel harms the interests of those who actually identify with another gender, not just because it's the flavor of the week. I have to wonder whether the focus from feminists is actually hurting integration more than helping.

Random question. How is your opinion on abortion in third world countries? There is an issue there of people who can't feed themselves who at the same time are having 6+ kids. Abortion is available but for various reasons is not performed. I have to wonder how many women who are pro choice have actually had an abortion. It screws with some women psychologically to where I seriously question how it became legal in the first place. Anything else with those side effects would never have gone to mar…

My female friend got a divorce recently. I was in full support of it because the husband was not pulling his weight. Only one side was making an effort in both home and work. When the wife provides and takes care of the house and assists your work and you can't even be bothered to go and buy groceries... Ironically she is also going to have to pay alimony because this guy earns so little. Was a nice eye opener for her on how unfair divorce can be.

The "normal" ones purportedly only cut a slit in the hood or prick the hood. Unfortunately, while this is what's claimed to be done - there are definitely instances of the whole clitoris being removed instead while claiming to do a non harmful procedure. Thanks to the ban on it we will never really know proper statistics on prevalence of the various types. The WHO isn't helping much by ignoring the existence of the "normal" forms as the pushback of people claiming they perform the worse procedur…

Welcome to reddit. It's probably a combination of both - it's actually plausible that a group would put in the effort to post this and pay for it to be up voted and hit all... Then low effort crap means that the second it hits all that unrelated people up vote for a laugh and we then have it rise up. So it is seen by those that dislike the message and come to spew hate. Or somebody makes a comment and pays for that to be up voted too. The problem right now with reddit is that services to get you…

So, your ideal involves both sides working towards equality from different sides. Feminism for pushing ahead for women and men's rights for pushing ahead for men? Genuine question, my head says that a better solution would be am equality movement that doesn't tend towards either gender from the get go. That would likely lose some nuance on gender differences though. Equality is in the eye of the beholder. Without taking differences into account you either have men taking as much maternity leave …

This had me thinking - honestly I think no true Scotsman was never a lot issue if you feel that radical feminists are feminists who want to advocate a superior position for women. Wanting the death of men honestly removes your equality card instantly in my mind. Which, if the MRA community ever sees success will have to deal with too. The people who become radical will attach themselves to anything which can allow them to be radical and accepted.

Honestly, I think that is a poor statement to begin with. I fail to understand how rapidly evolving and not more evolved when the differences are 2% vs 30%. Im going on a limb here and guessing that this statement is probably a snippet from the interview which had more detail afterwards. Edit: agreed though that the guy acting superior because of it is ignorant.

Nonono. I’m glad you added that. I agree more from the group pressure place than the age place though. If you can allow 18 year olds to get great implants you can allow them to get circumcised of their own volition. Funnily enough the class where fgm was introduced it was in a similar situation - 18+ year old women choosing to do it to become a woman. Only men are cut here though.
/r/MensRights09/07/17 12:10 AM

To be fair: these circumcisions are performed not on children but I think 18 year olds. It’s their coming of age ceremony. To be a real man you must go through the whole ritual. It’s supposed to hurt. They also don’t drink water for a day or two (been a long time since I have discussed this). It’s more informed than doing it to a baby.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Not autistic but on my own. I don't really side with anyone. I agree on logical conclusions. I can enjoy the stories with female protagonists because I blame men as much as I do women. The enabling males are just as much of an issue. I also think that feminism is needed. There are actual imbalances that are wrong. What irks me to no end is that nothing is being done to fix those imbalances as they never look good solving them. Funnily enough - the way the want me…

It's a real problem. I may have had the shit end of the stick but most of my problems have been incited by women. They pick a fight then cry off to their male tag alongs to right the wrong of disagreeing with them. But, I blame the retarded males for enabling it. Idiots with power are idiots. Yes those women are vindictive bitches. The people that let it happen are the problem. Why are the boys so stupid as to be manipulated. Welcome to bullying. I have also had as a small child boys wanting to impress girls. Those girls disliked me but egged on the boys to make my life hell. Never actively participating but encouraging shitty behaviour. It coloured my impression of people period. It also taught me that language can be enough of a reason to discriminate. It was never acknowledged by the teachers. In fact I had teachers who claimed I was retarded and told me i would never amount to anything.

Not really. A lot of the people are wanting to perform the "pinprick" which is theoretically harmless as it's a prick which should only draw a drop of blood. Some African tribes do only remove the labia as well. Having to go through four lectures on the topic at least showed that it's not all the insane measures typically described. There are though truly truly disgusting levels as well where not only is pretty much all sensitive exterior portions removed but it's down nearly closed as well. The…

That's what they want though. You should never be able to tell if it's just for the lulz or serious. That's how they have managed to actually get shit done. Some are serious. Well. The gay guy playing cs with his bf calls bad players faggots. When they snipe back, usually with something like "fuck you" he escalates it to saying yes please or something along those lines. It's hilarious watching him trap people like that! Gay people tell the best gay jokes.

Anecdote here. I know of two women who did it for attention. Both for similar reasons with similar circumstances. Boyfriend left, was pregnant and lost the child either via an abortion or via miscarriage. Even though the abortion was voluntary it still had a massive effect on the woman. Here it gets interesting though. The one who had the abortion just wanted attention which was clear with his the attempt played out. Contacted everyone and expected people to come and stop her. The one who had th…

Firstly. There is nothing wrong with keeping different condiments for each person. Nothing wrong with liking different things! You are both going to eat them anyway... Secondly. Men can most definitely perform similar shit! Last night I almost died laughing at an argument between two guys. It was because they had different viewpoints on how something worked, both wrong. They joined in laughing once the rest of us who knew about the subject matter corrected them. This is a regular thing for them!…

I don't get US family law... 4 kids in a 2 bedroom apartment is definitely a sign she won't get as much attention as you can give her. 4 kids is already a sign of that! I wouldn't be surprised if child support is why she holds on. I'm sure that and claiming to be a single mom without a job slows her to almost live without doing any work. Fight as hard as you can. You are completely in the right here and if you can afford it. Fight until you get what you feel is right.

Oh I get it trust me... Your side is valid as well. If you we're an effeminate man you wouldn't have these kinds of issues. I know when I move away getting fabric for stuff is going to be a chore. Here I don't get weird looks from being the only guy in a fabric store because I was there from childhood. I can get things made for cheaper and I get to choose my fabric quality so I get stuff made as it also supports local businesses. I'm not intending on giving her slight the focus but more on the g…

That's bias - unfortunate but it will exist still for awhile. /u/fengpi has a point but it's just the other side of the crappy bias. People are still shoved into boxes. If you love riding your bike that is your problem. The showroom should see that and attempt to entice you rather than your "fella". It is easier for men to not want children. Sadly it is also true that some women will try their hardest to bypass that. This at least has the solution one day of male birth control pills for those on…

I believe that true racisim is a rare thing. What we see as racisim is more about poverty and what people do when they are in that situation. Add that to the media representation and you get racisim. This applies to lower classes looking at the upper class as well as upper or middle looking on lower ones. Which makes this all the more ironic. Your situation is much better than hers with a better environment and fewer interactions with unsavoury people. You have the right stuff for raising her. S…

That being said makes this all the worse. Serving your country only to come hone to this is insane. You are nod going to be labelled something you are most definitely not. I worry for this group as with any group. The motives here are not wrong. Disagreement with the motives here is because of wanting more power not because of fact usually (disinformation or being uninformed is not an excuse). However, assuming the goals here are met - what stops this movement from degenerating into any other group? It is a valid concern as when the goals are met that a movement becomes a group which attempts to elevate itself above others. Very few people can say today that women…
