It's so funny and sad how much of feminism just circles back around to benevolent sexism toward women. You'd think even from a single minded pro women perspective, even if you don't give a shit about men, that you'd be against this kind of statement because it devalues women's agency and capabilities in comparison to men, but I guess not.

Equality in this context isn't saying that men and women are identical in every way, because they aren't. it means that men and women are considered to have an equal, moral worth and agency, with things like equal rights and responsibilities being downstream of that. another situation where it is used this way; a dollar coin and a dollar bill are not literally the same, yet they are equal.

Yeah the actual issue with it isn't the level of harm or good done, though that certainly makes the main issue worse if it's harmful. It's the fact that you are making a non medically necessary permanent alteration to another persons body without their consent.

What's worse is that the rhetoric/argument around men being dangerous is the exact same as the rhetoric around black people or immigrants being dangerous, yet they still don't see why it's wrong.

Does Kenya have a good track record for gender equality aside from this? Ending alimony is very pleasantly surprising, not something you'd see happening in America.

I think what you are saying might be getting a bit misunderstood? It seems to me at least you are in agreement with another comment in this thread which is being upvoted.

Could it still be a good thing by setting a precedent which will affect tea also?

Also their entire reasoning for segregating is just fear induced prejudice. Society generally doesn't accept the idea that an entire demographic should be treated in any specific way due to the actions of individuals who share their innate characteristics or even due to statistics, except for when it comes to men. This is a huge blindspot and inconsistency in that principle, a principle which I believe is morally right. Imo this is no different morally than looking at crime statistics or anecdot…

So a double-combo of misandry and misogyny Many such cases

Woman inventions? Some of those aren't even inventions at all, like is this person trying to claim women invented food and water? Also it's clear that to these type of people incel just means "guy I don't like" and I doubt they even know it has an actual definition

This is reaching a dangerous level of victimization I wouldn't say the topic is, but some of the replies are kind of nothing burgers when you can literally find examples of men being excluded from entering spaces or participating/ joining certain groups or qualifying for benefits Etc, based on nothing but what's between their legs.

Your take on tradcons is correct, I especially dislike their support of the idea of disposable men and men's life having less inherent value. However tradcons are not the entirety of the right, which can range from tradcons to right wing femboys. It's pretty varied

Is there even any country on the whole world that has actual equal rights and equal treatment under the law between men and women?

Imo even in a perfect world I still don't agree. I don't think anyone should have a predefined role in society based off immutable characteristics. Especially when it is more beneficial towards one group or groups

pro men So that men can provide for women. Yeah that's classic traditionalism for you

Also if it had been a white man that killed her you just know they would be group blaming all men as evil or criminal, similarly to how some right wing people are doing but with group blaming black people instead. Probably using the same arguments too. It's all so fucked up, what happened to seeing people as individuals

That's a false equivalent because murder is wrong because it violates a different right entirely. the right to life

But they are. They are all wrong because they violate the same inherent right that all people equally have.

All degrees of severity of assault on varying people are all wrong for the same exact reason. I don't live in a world where some people's rights matter more than others and violations of which are therefore more severe. With children at least we are being logically consistent if we say crimes against them aren't equal to that of an adult, because children themselves aren't considered equal to an adult. You cannot say this about different demographics of adults.

The effect is different, not the action. If you are saying something is wrong do to not because of the action itself but because of what you think might also happen as a result you are venturing into pre crime territory. You are judging someone based of something they haven't yet done. Additionally assault isn't wrong by the measure of physical damage it does, it's wrong because it's a violation someone's right to bodily autonomy.

If something is wrong to do, it is because of the action itself being wrong not because of the person doing it. Otherwise it's not really the action you consider wrong but the person.

It definitely feels hopeless when you see there are basically no politicians or even political influencers who support actual gender equality. It's even harder to find people like that who are not anti trans, which is another thing that matters to me. This subreddit is honestly the only thing I've found that's a person or group close to my own beliefs

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
