Modern law is fucked

Omg. Get 50% of everything. The only shit show is alimony. Cunts want your money forever.

Just check state laws. Most are no fault now. Which is actually complete bullshit. Some bitch can violate the basic tenet of marriage and then still expect financial support. Alimony is indentured servitude.

Doesn't help to chat somewhere else. Gotta move to in person or move on. Make sure you have good pics on your profile. Natural environments, good smile, good clothes, clear focus, etc. If you don't have many good single pics, go take some! I was on vacation at a national park this summer and had my daughter take a few good different shots to add to the slim pickings I had before. Then you have to actively send lot of likes to get a reasonable number back. Best of luck to you.

Exactly. Just text enough to build a little anticipation, and then figure out the rest in person. Even if you crash and burn in person you're actually learning and hopefully building skills for the next one.

Talking for two weeks on an app is a waste of time. By day 2 you should ask if they want to meet for coffee or a drink. If you can't get that set up, then move on. I've had several dates tell me they get tired of talking on the stupid apps too.

Those formulas are based on your gross income. Your expenses generally don't matter. They tell you to pay up and figure out your costs.

You have no temporary parenting plan? Follow whatever that says or get your lawyer to work and fight for 50/50. That's all you can reasonably do.

I'm not planning to marry anyone anytime soon. Or even commit to a long-term relationship. If I ever do marry again (unlikely) it would only be with a strong prenup and clear separation of assets and liabilities.

Exactly. I've been up front and no issues so far. I've talked to women on dating apps that disappear when I'm up front, which is fine. If they don't, then we can go from there.

Who's down voting this? What's wrong with some semi casual sex? As long as everyone is getting something from the arrangement.

Why not try for something? You can do more than a hookup and less than full blown commitment. Just be up front. Plenty of single women want regular action but are also not looking to get married.

What world is that? The whole setup these days is fucking stupid.

Parlay that into a threesome at least?

Generally, inheritances are separate property, as long as the assets are never commingled. Check your state laws though, should be pretty easy to Google. Could ask your dad to create a trust specific for you...

That's still a crazy law, but understand the perspective if you're stuck. I'm pissed that I'm likely paying a lot for up to 10 years, but if she moves in with someone or remarries I'll likely be able to cut it to zero. No reason I should have to fund some other douchbags lifestyle. Bad enough I have to fund hers for so long just due to a shitty contract I entered into when I was early 20s. Alimony laws are fucked up and from a bygone era. 1-2 years should be the max for transition if the other s…

Ok dude! Sorry your life sucks! I'm happy and moving on. Some people do that, but you do you.

Stay bitter my man. I'm an optimist, I'll be happy with my life no matter what. If you have good things going on, a single set back doesn't matter.

Didn't tell her, bumped into someone we both know at a hotel. Hard to hide that, so she was told. Stuff happens.

Thanks! Didn't know there were so many anti-men dudes on this page. Gees.Post a good thing and get shitty comments. Sorry I'm not wallowing in sorrow for months or years. Yes, I made mistakes in my marriage, but so did she and we've been in a slow burn breakup for a long time since her affair. I was emotionally done a long time ago but trying for my kids. When it became clear that this was the end point I started focusing on myself and here we are. Everyone takes a slightly different path. If mi…

I'm not marrying this chick. I'm in shape and make damn good money. So does my stbxw, I mean, I'll be paying her, but whatever. She makes $175k and I'm still paying her. I'll be fine.

We've been separated for months and I know she's been on dates. I have a killer lawyer. It is what it is.

You could make it a loan where she must refinance in a couple years to pay you back or something like that. Or she has to sell at that point if she can't refinance to pay you back. Just get a lawyer to draft the agreement so you can enforce it.

If you keep it invested in retirement accounts you should each pay taxes on what you receive during retirement. Nothing now.

No tax deduction for alimony anymore, so you pay with after tax cash flow. So if cash flow is a concern, splitting the pension can be better. If you can afford the alimony now though, keeping your pension benefits can be better long term. Or you can split the pension now and save more for retirement with your increased cash flow, and those savings are tax deductible. It really depends on your circumstances.

It used to be tax deductible to the payor and taxable to the recipient. This benefited the divorced couples as the recipient was almost always in a lower tax bracket, so there was more money to split overall. The 2019 change means more money is taxed in a higher bracket since the payor pays it, instead of the recipient. So it's a net loss for divorced couples and a net gain for the government. This partially offset some other tax breaks in the TCJA.

You mention rubber, are you wearing one? If you didn't with your ex, the different (slightly dulled) sensation might be the issue?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
